A Little Break

Hello, Dear Ones!
I need to take a little break for a couple of weeks or so.
We've started the new year with a bang and busy, busy, busy!

I'll try to be popping in to see you from time to time!
Don't forget me!!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Leaving On A Jet Plane (I'm not really flying away, just love this song!)

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn
The taxi's waiting, he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could cry
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
(Oh baby, don't let me go)
I'm leavin' on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Every place I go, I think of you
Every song I sing, I sing for you
When I come back, I'll wear your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
(Oh baby, don't let me go)
I'm leavin' on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
One more time let me kiss you
Then close your eyes and I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times, I won't have to say
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
(Oh baby, don't let me go)
I'm leavin' on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

A Little Change

 Hello, Dear Ones!
During the 80s and 90s I loved to stencil. I had a stencil for everything (actually I still do because I have kept them). I stenciled pillows, purses, clothes, even paper. I had the most wonderful stencil brushes ~ big ones and small ones ~ for all of my jobs.
 I was good! :)
Well, when we bought this house in 1997, I was still in a stenciling mode.
I stenciled a border around my kitchen at the ceiling.
This is a rather blurry snap but you can see the sweet little stencil with the blue dishes.
I loved that stencil and even loaned it out to my friend who stenciled the design on her kitchen walls.

 Like I said ~ I. WAS. A. STENCILER!
So...upstairs in The Grandma Bedroom, as we call it, I took my talent up there too.
I painted the walls a pretty yellow, climbed up on my ladder with my stencil brushes in hand and dabbed and dabbed away! Oh, I was pleased with myself.
Roses and roses. When I was finished I stood back and thought, "Why didn't I move the stencil together more instead of leaving that gap?" Oh, well, it was beautiful and my friends said it looked so pretty. It was so pretty that I have never shown it to you because I was ashamed for you to see it!
Ashamed because this type of stenciling is passe'.
Ashamed and afraid you would all point and laugh at it behind my back.
Ashamed that you would all get together and say, what was she thinking?
Ashamed to show it to you because it had stayed up there on The Grandma Bedroom walls for 17 years!
Well, I must say, I decided to rid myself of the ashameness. Is that a word? It is now! ;)
Went to good ole Sherwin Williams and bought some new paint - Biscuit and went to town painting my walls. I was so happy with the results! But wait! The stenciling was bleeding through the paint after two coats! What?
This was just little old washable craft paint and it's bleeding through my SW most expensive paint?
I was so upset I tell you. I had to go and get some primer and prime all around the walls where the stencil was. Two times!! That stencil was not wanting to let go. Shaming me with every roller swipe and peeping through. Well, finally it was covered and the walls were a solid color - Biscuit.
But I have to tell you...in my mind's eye I can squint just so and see a little trace of that stencil. No, no! I shake my most tiny gorgeous head and say ~ there's nothing there! Whew!
This could be a story for a spooky movie!

So anyway, I'm not ashamed any more to show you my Grandma Bedroom. Her walls are clean. I've tried to declutter in here. It's hard for this is where I sew and I've always got a mess out somewhere.
That's my grandma's old Singer pedal sewing machine under the window. And the bedroom suit belonged to my other grandmother's family and it's pretty olden. I love it.
I'm not a fancy decorator. Don't care too much for modern sleek lines. Love old traditional things with stories and memories.
Well, all but the memory of that stencil...
it will probably live on to haunt me in my tiny mind.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you a little Note Song ~

Spooky
In the cool of the evening when everything is gettin' kinda groovy
I call you up and ask you if you like to go with me and see a movie
First you say no you got some plans for the night
And then you stop and say alright

Love was kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you

You always keep me guessin'
I never seem to know what you are thinking
And if a fella looks at you
It's for sure your little eye will be a winkin'
I get confused cause I don't know where I stand
And then you smile and hold my hand

Love was kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Spooky hey

If you decide someday to stop this little game that you are playin'
I'm gonna tell you all the things my heart's been a dyin' to be sayin'
Just like a ghost you been a hauntin' my dreams
So I propose on Halloween

Love was kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Spooky spooky oh alright
I said spooky oh ya ya

I Love Those Meeces to Pieces

Hello, Dear Ones!
Do you remember the olden cartoon "Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinx"? Mr. Jinx (the cat) was always chasing the little mice, Pixie and Dixie. I think he actually said, "I hate those Meeces to pieces!"
Well, I'm loving these Meeces to pieces!
I decided to make a pincushion and of course I went to Pinterest to take a look.
I found this adorable and very easy pattern for a pincushion - a Meece! :)
For the life of me, I thought I had pinned it and was going to leave you the link but I believe I must have just printed out the pattern because I can't find it on my Pincushion board!
I hate that and I'm so sorry!
UPDATE:
Nanna was so kind to give me the link to this pattern and HERE it is.
Thank you, Nanna

The pattern is from the blog Bustle and Sew and HERE is the PDF pattern.
I want to thank this lady for the darling pattern and being so gracious to share it with us.
I started out making a polka dot Meece with special ears! I filled the bottom with dried beans to give it weight and then filled the rest with the polyester fluffy stuffy! I have my own language, I know!
Well, that little Meece was so cute, I had to make another one.
You know what happened then?
Baby Meeces! Yep, three of them.
 This is Edward.
 Silly Suzy.
And last but not least, Lantana.
Like I said, I love these little Meeces to pieces!
For the life of me I just can't bring myself to poke any pins into them!
They're just too cute!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Merry Mice

Five merry mice were born in May (Hold up five fingers.)
The first one said, In the Mud, let’s play (Grab thumb.)
The second one said, No way, Hosea (Grab index finger.)
The third one said, In the middle I must stay (Grab middle finger)
The fourth one said, I am mad today (Grab ring finger)
The fifth one said, Our Mom we must obey (Grab Last finger)

Changing Things Around

Hello, Dear Ones!
Well, after putting away all of the Christmasing I wanted to start with a clean slate so I cut back on my vignettes in the kitchen.

Just a little tray of cuties.
Got a new man for Christmas! Don't you love my Jadite Rooster! He's so handsome and I love him. Don't tell Mr. Precious! ;)
This is the time for lemons to become ripe so I've been enjoying fresh lemons.
I've always thought fresh lemons were a nice Christmas present from God to me! :)

Some of the lemons have those little black specks. Maybe they are from birds pecking on them? I just don't know. Anyway, lovely lemons in my lovely vintage Pyrex.
Then I simplified the Baker's Rack.
This may be a little too simple for me. I love color so I don't know how long I can stay with the white. But it's just January.
Then to my little hutch in the breakfast room.
I'm thinking the top of the hutch is too heavy with stuff.
I love my stuff.

Again, this is simple for me - my girls with one green Rooster.
I'll see how long I can hold my resolve. I have to admit, it does feel nice to decorate a little more simply. My 'simply' may be too much for some.
This year has started off with a bang! We've been going through the house and tossing out the junk, decluttering and rethinking what we really want to keep.
Aww...it does feel good to know that behind those doors in the cabinet - it's neat and orderly.
Wonder how long it will stay that way?

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

You Make Me Feel Brand New
My love, I'll never find the words, my love
To tell you how I feel, my love
Mere words, could not explain

Precious love, you held my life within your hands
Created everything I am
Taught me how to live again

Only you came when I needed a friend
Believed in me through thick and thin
This song is for you
Filled with graditude and love

God bless you
You make me feel brand new
For God bless me with you
You make me feel brand new
I sing this song 'cause you
Make me feel brand new

My love, when ever I was insecure
You built me up and made me sure
You gave, my pride, back to me

Precious friend, with you I'll always have a friend
You're someone who I can depend
To walk a path that sometimes bends

Without you, life has no meaning or rhyme
Like notes to a song out of time
How can I repay
You for havin' faith in me

God bless you
You made me feel brand new
For God bless me with you
You made me feel brand new
I sing this song for you

I Forgot To Show You!

Hello, Dear Ones!
First of all I wanted you to see my new header and I've done a few other little things on my blog.
I got all of my inspiration and tutes from our Brenda at Cozy Little House. She has another blog with blogging tutes and you'll find all kinds of things for your blog. Pop on over to Brenda's Blog Tips.

Okay, I've been so busy I realized I forgot to show you the little Christmas felties I made for Carter!
This is a photo heavy post so grab a cookie and a cup of Wassail and just sit back and relax.
Most of your know I've been making little felt ornaments for my little granddaughter, Carter.
I've made for all seasons and only Christmas was left so I went to town felting! I poked them all on my little feather tree to show you before I pack them up for her.
I took them to her when we went to have an early Christmas.
So do you like them? I had so much fun making these little cuties and all my thanks to the clever ones who have pinned on Pinterest. I am totally a copy cat.
Hope that's legal! :)
Course I'm gonna break it down so you can see the ornies up close and personal.
I had to make Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus for the top of the tree.
This is my granddog, Findley. He's a chocolate lab but I knew if I made him in brown his little eyes and nose would not show up. So I improvised.
Have to have reindeer at Christmas and I made two brown ones and...
...one blonde! :) I sewed on little beads for their noses.
Oops! I see a stray white piece of embroidery floss!
Just keepin' it real, folks. :)
I made three little Frostys and added a little bitty jingle bell to his scarf. More beads for the noses.
Three Santies ~ added a jingle bell to his hat and he got a jolly red bead for his nose.
 Three stars of Wonder!
Three little Christmas trees with beads and garland of course.
My stitches are certainly not perfect but that's okay.
All ornies are stuffed with a little polyester stuffing except the trees.
There you have it. My cute little ornies for Carter.
As you can see, she loved them and hope you do too!
I put a heart over her opened PJs. She was giving herself a checkup and was all opened up! ;)
Gotta love that silly little girl.

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

Rocking around the Christmas Tree
at the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Ev'ry couple tries to stop

You will get a sentimental feeling When you hear voices singing
"Let's be jolly; Deck the halls with boughs of holly" Rocking around the Christmas Tree
Have a happy holiday
Everyone's dancing merrily
In a new old fashioned way

Rocking around the Christmas Tree
Let the Christmas Spirit ring
Later we'll have some pumpkin pie
and we'll do some caroling

You will get a sentimental feeling When you hear voices singing
"Let's be jolly; Deck the halls with boughs of holly" Rocking around the Christmas Tree
Have a happy holiday
Everyone's dancing merrily
In a new old fashioned way

A New Year

Hello Dear Ones!
Well, the new year is moving right along.
I have all of my Christmas decorations put up and stored away and even went through and tried to discard the stuff I never use.
I'm on a roll now. I'm trying to go through my house and declutter and get rid of the things that just do not matter any more.
You know what kind of stuff I'm talking about...junk, magazines, things like 'I may need that' that I never needed! :)
Even cleaned out my clothes closets and took lots of things to Goodwill.
I'm beginning to feel so much better, lighter, more organized.
You know that feeling, right?
Just trying to get all of my priorities in order and I think that's a good way to start out the new year.
I won't even tell you how many boxes of just junkie stuff that went to the garbage.
Before I go I wanted to tell you something. I was having some trouble with some bloggy issues and Brenda from Cozy Little House was such a help to me. She wants no credit for anything she does but I have to give credit to whom it is due! Thank you, Brenda, for all of your help. She is a real sweetie,

You are all my sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~ love me some Peter Noone :)

Something Good

Woke up this morning feelin' fine
There's something special on my mind
Last night I met a new girl in the neighborhood, whoa yeah
Something tells me I'm into something good
(Something tells me I'm into something)

She's the kind of girl who's not too shy
And I can tell I'm her kind of guy
She danced close to me like I hoped she would
(She danced with me like I hoped she would)
Something tells me I'm into something good
(Something tells me I'm into something)

We only danced for a minute or two
But then she stuck close to me the whole night through
Can I be fallin' in love?
(She's everything I've been dreamin' of)
She's everything I've been dreamin' of

I walked her home and she held my hand
I knew it couldn't be just a one-night stand
So I asked to see her next week and she told me I could
(I asked to see her and she told me I could)
Something tells me I'm into something good
(Something tells me I'm into something)
(Something tells me I'm into something, ahhh)

I walked her home and she held my hand
I knew it couldn't be just a one-night stand
So I asked to see her next week and she told me I could
(I asked to see her and she told me I could)
Something tells me I'm into something good
(Something tells me I'm into something)
Something tells me I'm into something good
(Something tells me I'm into something)
To something good, oh yeah, something good
(Something tells me I'm into something)
To something good, something good, something good
