Hello, Dear Ones!
If you were wondering why I haven't been responding to your comments this past week ~
we've been to 'The City'! Those around the New York area call New York city 'The City'!
Don't you love that?
It was a wonderful kickoff, well, we're almost there, to Christmas!
A nice man offered to snap a photo of Mr. Precious and I. I don't think he's a blogger as his focus was on those great big red Christmas balls and not our most gorgeous faces. We look like we've been superimposed here! ;)
I had always heard of the wonderful decorated windows at Macy's. Even seen TV specials on the wonderful windows. So...since we were staying in the area we just had to go and see them. These snaps do nothing to show you how wonderful each window was. Animation, digitalness in the backgrounds, music and the magical feeling of being a child again ~ oohs and aahs!
The Macy's theme this year was Believe! I do, I do, I do believe!
This was a lovely garland inside and I loved it and wanted to show it to you.
Gorgeousness!
Twinkliness.
That's Mr. Precious headed to Rockefeller Center.
The giant Christmas tree and yes! that's snow! We felt like kids in the snow!
Some prettiness.
Hark the Herald Angels Sing!
Then a little ride through Central Park.
Did I mention it was colder than cold? Yes ma'am! My tiny feet were freezing!
Behind my most gorgeous head is the skating rink in Central Park.
Then we came back to Times Square to do a little Christmas shopping and what to my wandering eyes should appear...
:)
I'll bet he's cold!!!
Just in case you're wondering who this is...The Naked Cowboy!
Yee Haw!!
Now, if we were in 'The City' you know where we were going from there.
I'll be back, same time, same Bat channel.
I know I'm old but some of you will know what I'm talking about! ;)
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Christmas Is Paintin' The Town
Can't you see it, can't you hear it
It's everywhere, it's Christmas
Sidewalk Santa, children with dreams
Asking him, please...
It's Christmas
It's Christmas, it's paintin' the town
With red and silver bells and laughter all around
With scurring people and greetings as you near
Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Hearts grow lighter, smiles get wider
It's in the air, it's Christmas
Choir's singin', church bells ringin'
Loved ones are here, it's Christmas
It's Christmas, it's paintin' the town
With red and silver bells and laughter all around
With the magical morning and children as they cheer
Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Great pics. You look wonderful! I love seeing the sights through your eyes. Thanks for the tour around town. The cowboy had to be freezing. Guess you see everything in New York!
ReplyDeleteIt was colder than cold when we were there after Christmas in 2009 too! I was very cold and I lived in Alaska for five years. I think having the right boots and coats makes a great difference and I had gotten rid of the Nordic gear.
Wow. Macy's windows. Everything. Wow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time in NYC! I've never been...would love to go someday! I guess your'e not quite sure what (or who) you might see walking down the street...lol!
ReplyDeleteYou both do look gorgeous and I'm so jelous you guys are "in the city!" Well, NY is my city and yes, we always referred to Manhattan, as 'the city'..lol.. Wish I was there too for C'mas, you've brought so many memories to my mind. I'm so happy you are there, enjoying yourselves. Keep warm and do lovely shopping. Merry C'mas!

Oh Shelia, how wonderful to be in NYC - the sights, & sounds of everything there is lovely. It brought back memories of when I went with friends the first week in December many years ago. We went to all the places that you posted. Ice skating in Central Park, Rockefeller with the stunning tree.
ReplyDeleteYou and Mr. Precious look so happy and lovely. Enjoy yourselves.
Have a Very Merry Christmas.
Love
Mary
It all looks so beautiful and of course so very Christmassy, not sure about the guitar player though!! The tree in Rockerfeller Centre really does look amazing! xx
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny, glad you're back with all your great pics of The City and yourselves and ... well, all the rest :) Glad y'all had fun!!!
ReplyDeleteMary
The City is such a beautiful place to be this time of year. So glad you are having fun. I know you are going to see those Grandbabies. Big Hugs to you and you family!
ReplyDeleteAnd what are you doing so far away from home, dear lady? Besides having a ball with your guy! This is definitely the time to be in NYC, I've only been once and it was in December as well. I'm enjoying your pics, keep them coming! BTW, you look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteXO,

Oh, lucky you. I hope to see New York at Christmas time some day. I hope the mister gets in the mood to travel when he retires. in a few years. Y'all are having so much fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures Sheila...yes it's been pretty cold here! I was in the city on Thursday wish I knew you were here we could have met for lunch...I would have loved that! Hopefully on your next trip back:)
ReplyDeleteOh Shelia, I loved seeing you and your hubby in front of the giant Christmas balls fountain. I took some the the same photos last year in November, even of the Naked Cowboy (who I didn't share on here!!). I love NYC and I know you had a wonderful time there. Can't wait to see where you went next.
ReplyDeleteHey, Sheila!
ReplyDeleteYour post brought back some great memories! Hubby and I spent 8 days in NYC this time last year and we loved every single minute of it!!! There's no place like NYC at Christmastime. That Naked Cowboy is there always! I can't imagine how he makes a living! Lol And, the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall featuring the Rockettes was fabulous! I remember those huge red Christmas balls and, of course, the angels, tin soldiers and tree at Rockefeller Centre, the twinkly trees, carriage ride through Central Park...Oh, it was just a joyful time! And, I am so glad that you enjoyed it, too! I shared some pics last year of the stunning windows at all the posh stores. I took tons of pics and really should share some more. I am so glad to have been able to have that experience and am re-living it now. Thanks for sharing your time with us all! A very Merry Christmas to you and Mr. Precious!
Hugs,
Linda at Beautiful Ideas
It looks like you all are having a great time in the city. I have seen the naked cowboy on the today show a few years ago. I bet he is cold.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! Someday I would love to see New York at Christmastime. Macy's windows are a special treat, for sure. Loved seeing you and your hubby having a wonderful time.

Enjoy your trip to "The City." New York is magical. I haven't been there in years but next time I go it definitely has to be around Christmas.
ReplyDeleteSure do know, from one Batgirl to another:) I love New York City but I've never been there at Christmas time, it's beautiful! The Cow boy I've seen but it was October on a warm day. It looks like you had a wonderful time, so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Mercy, child! What was that madman thinking??? Is he Russian/Siberian to go out nekkid in the cold??? They have a polar bear club that swims in ice. He just struts in it apparently! Notice, I did not judge him for being in his tighie whities in public, just doing it in the cold!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like great fun. holler at me when you get back.
xo
