Mother's Curio Cabinet

Hello, Dear Ones.
Most of you know my little Mother had to go into a nursing home about 3 months ago. She is doing pretty well and I go to see her every other day. I told her how you were all praying for her and she said she certainly appreciated it.

When we moved her things out of her apartment this little curio cabinet came home to my house.
It's not expensive or grand but my Mother loved it.
She and my daddy bought it when we lived in Roswell, New Mexico, from some friends of ours who owned a furniture store. So I've placed it in a little corner of my living room.
I like how it balances the corner and across the room is my piano.

I'll open the door so you can see inside.
I've placed Mother's hand painted porcelain pieces in here.
She had a neighbor who painted these pieces and even taught others to paint.
I've seen lots of these painted pieces and I do believe this lady was one of the best.
She was so good at the roses and see the little raised blue bird? Darling!
And the tiny little egg.
The tray has some gold on it.
Mr. Precious and I bought her the little couple many years ago when we went to Denmark.
 More pretties.
We bought these little geese in Spain for Mother, also many years ago and they are Lladro.
 More sweetness.
Taking up the bottom shelf is this pretty round plate.
I do know Mother is glad I'm taking care of her things she loves so much.
Hope you've enjoyed seeing my Mother's little curio cabinet today.
Well, will you look at that?
Miss Chloe Dawn just has to poke her little tiny self into my snap.
Gotta love that little fuzzy face. :)
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Yesterday Once More

When I was young
I'd listen to the radio
Waitin' for my favorite songs When they played I'd sing along
It made me smile.

Those were such happy times
And not so long ago
How I wondered where they'd gone
But they're back again
Just like a long lost friend
All the songs I loved so well.

Every Sha-la-la-la
Every Wo-o-wo-o
Still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling
That they're startin' to sing's
So fine.

When they get to the part
Where he's breakin' her heart
It can really make me cry
Just like before
It's yesterday once more.

Lookin' back on how it was
In years gone by
And the good times that I had
Makes today seem rather sad
So much has changed.

It was songs of love that
I would sing to then
And I'd memorize each word
Those old melodies
Still sound so good to me
As they melt the years away.

Every Sha-la-la-la
Every Wo-o-wo-o
Still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling
That they're startin' to sing's
So fine.

All my best memories
Come back clearly to me
Some can even make me cry.
Just like before
It's yesterday once more

  3. Hi sweetie, I'm glad to hear your mother is adjusting to her new home, sounds like you are too. You have quite the treasure trove of love to look at each day. The painted porcelain reminds me of my Aunt Millie who also painted beautiful things. I'm lucky to be the caregiver of a couple of those beauties. Your fur baby is just too cute. fondly ~lynne~

  17. I have almost the exact same curio cabinet. My husband bought it for me the first year we were dating because I wanted one so badly. I keep all my old (antique) treasures from when I was younger. I'll have to do a blog post on that one day.
