Hello, Dear Ones.
I haven't been around for a few days.
Those of you who follow me on FaceBook know my little Mother gave us a scare Saturday morning.
We thought she had suffered a stroke and called 911.
She was taken to the ER and all the tests began.
We were so relieved to know she had not had a stroke or a heart attack.
She was so nervous, confused and just out of her head.
To make my long story short - she had an urinary track infection and that caused the confusion.
The confusion was so much that she was only able to jabber and not talk.
Well, I have learned a few things these past few days of how even the smallest infection and other things can react differently in the elderly and can bring on terrible confusion and stroke like symptons.
Hopefully tomorrow she will be going to rehab to regain her mobility and then back to her little apartment in the retirement home where she lives.
I want to thank you all for your prayers. God is so good and I still have my little Mother who will be 90 in June!
Hopefully you'll leave with a smile on your face as I just have to leave you with a sweet Easter snap of my little Carter.
Her little Easter dress was from Mr. Precious and me.
I'll see you all in a few days when things get settled with Mother.
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

I'm so glad it wasn't a stroke Shelia and pray your mom will be all better real soon! Precious little Carter in the sweetest dress!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
I'm so very grateful that your mom didn't have a stroke and that rehab will help her regain her strength. What a blessing. And what a sweet little girl. Much to be grateful for in this post.
ReplyDeleteSo glad she is doing better. That is how I was for 18 days in Nov/Dec....I didn't speak anything that made any sense. Scared my hubby real bad. Thank the Lord, I am better! And prayfully, so will your mom!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that your dear mother is okay, how awful that an infection can do that to a person. Bless her heart, I hope she will be back to health and in her little apartment soon.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs, Cindy
Shelia: I didn't know about your precious mother but am glad to hear that she is on the mend. So scary!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
So glad they were able to figure out what was wrong with your mom Sheila! I know you are breathing much easier now!
ReplyDeleteOh I do love your song- it is one that I sing often as it seems I realize more and more just how weak I am but then, how wonderful that He is strong in those times! Yippee Jesus!

Oh it is so good to hear this report on your dear Mother!
ReplyDeleteShelia...I am so happy to hear that this was something that the doctors could get a grip on and it wasn't as serious as a stroke. I've become fond of your mother over the years! I pray she improves with each day.
ReplyDeleteThe dress you made for Carter is beautiful and she looks very sweet! Yes, your life is filled to the brim with things to be thankful for!
XO,
Jane
She is just darling, Shelia- I love her little Easter dress...and she looks beautiful in it. I don't do FB (not well anyway) so I am sorry to hear about your Mother. My own mother actually died from a urinary tract infection that went into her bladder/kidneys. She had dementia and could not tell anyone what was going on. It was so sad-but in her case, a blessing for her to go home. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSo happy your mom is on the mend. Your Carter is so adorable. xo
ReplyDeleteGod bless you sweetie. We are praying for all of you. Hopefully the rehab will be helpful.
ReplyDeleteCarter is a beauty and I love her dress.
Love to you Sweetie, Ginger
Love that little dress and that cutie pie Carter!!!! So sorry to hear about your mom, what a scare for all of you!! That particular infection is very common in the elderly, my mom also had them and they cause all kinds of trouble.......she will be fine soon....hugs...cleo
ReplyDeleteShelia I didn't know about your Mother. I am so glad she is alright. I will add an extra prayer for her!

Shelia...I can see how much you love your mum:) May God bless her always! Love that photo you posted. Your little Carter is just so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks be to God!
ReplyDeleteCarter looks beautiful in her Easter dress with her Easter basket. I'll bet you had fun with her. She is so much like you, and you are like your little mother. I'm pleased you found out what was going on with your mother, it's amazing how much small infections affect our older folk. I hope everything is sorted out soon.
ReplyDeleteblessings,
Diana
Shelia,I'm so happy your mom is doing better and that she didn't have a stroke or heart attack. We react differently to the smallest things as we age. The golden years aren't always so golden..Take Care, Judy

My Dad had his 90th in June of 2012...what a delightful day sharing this milestone with him!
Little Carter certainly put a smile on my face...works every time!!!
I adore your Note Song choice!
Prayers will continue for you , your Mother and your family as you take the time needed
to get her on the track to renewed health and returning strength!!!
Fondly,
Pat
So happy for you and your mother that it was not a stroke. Thanks for writing about it...I had no idea an infection could cause those symptoms. This information will be good for future use. It's good that you had excellent doctor support.

ReplyDeleteHope that your mother is feeling better quickly!! Keeping you in my prayers!!
So thankful with you that your dear Mom is okay, hopefully she'll sail through rehab and back to her apartment soon. You and Mr. Precious picked out a gorgeous dress for the beautiful Carter, what a doll! Hugs ~ Mary
ReplyDeleteSaying a prayer for mom. xo
ReplyDeleteSheila, I am glad your mother is on the mend. She gave you quite a scare! Carter is beautiful! What a sweet little pink Easter dress.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got your Mama taken care of -- my husband's 98 year old grandma had some similar problems. Also, I went through this during the period we cared for my mother. I hope she is able to get back to her relative independence very soon.
ReplyDeleteCarter is just you, made over!
Glad it wasn't a stroke or heart attack and that she is on the mend. I spent the weekend with my mom (98). We are so fortunate to still have our mothers in our lives. And yes, Carter is darling in her pink Easter dress.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear about your mom and that all is well! Beautiful news. That little one is so precious. Grace xoox

Such good news!! And Carter is just lovely in her pretty Easter dress.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jan ♥
I'm so thankful it wasn't more serious! I've seen this many times when I was a chaplain in care centers and retirement communities. Yes, infections can cause scary things to happen. You are blessed to have your dear mother. My dear, little mother recently turned ninety. What treasures we have, my friend!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
That is such a common ailment for the elderly Shelia so I'm glad your dear mother didn't have a stroke. I experienced it with my mother and mother-in-law and now know the signs. I'm glad your mother is doing better. What a sweet picture of Carter. She is adorable in her pink dress. Blessings to you. Pamela
ReplyDeletewonderful to hear the good news about your mom !!! My parents are going through such struggles this past 6 months over health issues. It is heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to be able to buy our grandkids little outfits and gifts.
Carter is a dolly Sheila!
ReplyDeleteShe tends to remind me of Calista a bit.
Love the pretty dress you got her.
When my Mom who is only 77, had her stroke this year she also had a urinary infection at the same time.
She was very confused and they both were the culprits.
So glad your Mom is on the mend.
Hugs friend,
Cindy
Hi Shelia, sorry to hear she and you had to experience that. UTI's can give symptoms that seem unconnected to what is going on. I once had one and had the worst headache of my life-I thought I needed a CT of my head at the time, me being a bossy RN and all. Thanking God your mom had no neurological or cardiac event, Olive
ReplyDeleteHola, Sheyla, espero que su madre se encuentre bien, fue un gran susto el que les ha dado. Bendiciones
ReplyDeleteOh my sweet friend, you dear mama sure gave you a big scare!! She is going to be 90! Your Carter is a complete doll and she looks gorgeous in the dress you got her. Well, I'm happy your dear mother is recovering. God bless her. Big hugs,
ReplyDeleteFABBY
Glad to hear your mother is better. My daughter got a infection that almost shut down her kidneys. They can be very nasty things. Carter looks so cute.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad she is improving, Shelia. And, your little Carter is a doll.
ReplyDeleteOh Shelia I am so happy to hear it was nothing to serious with your mom, I know that had to be a terrible scare! Carter is so precious and she looks so pretty in her pink dress!
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord for the good news on your mom. Yes, those UTI can be bad! The older we get the worse they affect us that is for sure. Awe...the little dress is lovely but the grandbaby wearing it is precious! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about the health scare with your sweet mother Sheila! Praising God that it wasn't as serious as you all originally thought and praying for her continued recovery! :-)
ReplyDeleteVanessa
I have been away and am just catching up. So sorry to here about your Mother's health, but glad to hear she is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
I'm not on facebook, so I hadn't heard about this. I know it's always worrisome when a family member is ill, but I'm glad things weren't as bad as you expected. Still, I would imagine that kind of confusion was scary enough. Best wishes to your mom for a speedy full recovery!
ReplyDeleteScary. I am so glad your mother is okay.
ReplyDeleteWhat a scary thing, I'm so happy she's fine. I didn't know a urinary tract could have that effect, it's so helpful to know when we have elderly parents. I'm keeping your Mom in my prayers.
