My Easter Mantel

Hello, Dear Ones!
I'm still Eastering here at Note Songs cottage and thought I would show you my mantel.

 Most of you know our fireplace is in the den where we spend most of our time so I wanted the mantel to be fun and  casual with a little cutesy silly thrown in!
Yes, that's a cricket you see on the hearth on the left.
Crickets are supposed to bring your home good luck when placed by your fireplace.
Need all of the luck and goodness I can get! :)
Just sayin'.

 Of course my mantel had to be poked full of bunnies.

 Here's a cute little wreath I found last year at Marshalls.
So up over the mirror it went.

 Here's the right side of the mantel...bunnies!
That little bunny vase is as old as Methuselah.
I'm just in love with these little covered bunny dishes and the pink glass just thrills my soul!
Oh, that's an old hymn... All that thrills my soul is Jesus,
He is more than life to me;
And the fairest of ten thousand

In my blessed Lord I see.

I do get carried away some times with my songs! :)

 Here's the left side of the mantel...more bunnies.
 I bought the haystack of sticks with flowers and Easter eggs this year and just thought it was darling. I love darling, don't you? Had to poke an egg cup down too.

 Here's my bunny who looks like he needs to go to the bathroom.
I hope he can hop down from the mantel okay.
Oh, and a nest! You all know Easter bunnies need nests for the Easter eggs don't you?

 Here's one more Bunny covered dish.
This little lady is a lot bigger than the two pink ones and she is 'with eggs' if you know what I mean.
I think that nest will come in handy for her! :)
Hope you've enjoyed seeing my Easter mantel.

I'm so sorry I've not been visiting like I would like.
My uncle passed away. He was my mother's youngest brother.
He's in Heaven tonight and that is such a comfort.
If you recall a little over a month ago another of her brother's passed away.
So, we won't be going to Alabama this time
as it's just too hard for my little 89 year old mother.
I've been with her as much as I can to love on her and dry her tears.
She is the oldest child out of eight children in her family
and has two more sisters living.
I do feel so blessed to have my mother here with me on this earth.
If you think of me today...say a little prayer for her.
You know how I love and appreciate you all.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

All That Thrills My Soul Is Jesus

Who can cheer the heart like Jesus,

By His presence all divine?

True and tender, pure and precious,

O how blest to call Him mine!

All that thrills my soul is Jesus,

He is more than life to me;

And the fairest of ten thousand

in my blessed Lord I see.

 Love of Christ so freely given,

Grace of God beyond degree,

Mercy higher than the heaven,

Deeper than the deepest sea!

All that thrills my soul is Jesus,

He is more than life to me;

And the fairest of ten thousand

in my blessed Lord I see.

What a wonderful redemption!

Never can a mortal know

How my sin, tho red like crimson,

Can be whiter than the snow.

All that thrills my soul is Jesus,

He is more than life to me;

And the fairest of ten thousand

in my blessed Lord I see.

 Every need His hand supplying,

Every good in Him I see;

On His strength divine relying,

He is all in all to me.

All that thrills my soul is Jesus,

He is more than life to me;

And the fairest of ten thousand

in my blessed Lord I see.

 By the crystal flowing river,

With the ransomed I will sing,

And forever and forever,

Praise and glorify the King.

All that thrills my soul is Jesus,

He is more than life to me;

And the fairest of ten thousand

in my blessed Lord I see.
~ sung by me today

  8. Your mantel is so pretty with the colorful flowers and the bunnies. You made me laugh about the one that needed to use the bathroom and then the one "with eggs"!! Your wreath is so cute, too. I just found one in my bin that I bought on clearance last year and forgot about. Don't you love surprises like that?

    I am so sorry about your uncle. This is such a sad time for your mother, losing two siblings so close together. Sending many prayers.

    Your Easter mantel is so charming and whimsical. I especially love the bunny vase! My favorite bunny, though, is the one to the right of the stack of books. Where did you find him?

  13. I love all of your little vignettes, but I just do not know where I would put everything when it is not being displayed. Inspired by you, I have been keeping my eyes open for little cuties though.
    I am sorry about your uncle. Even when we know the truth, saying goodbye is the very hardest thing to do.

  16. Pretty Easter mantel, Sheila and sorry about your family's lost. You don't hear about large families like that anymore. My hubby is one of ten kids and he is the youngest boy of three boys and seven sisters.
    Some of his siblings left this world way too early, but his oldest sisters in their eighties still thrive on.

  22. I am saying a little prayer for your Mom. I can't imagine being the oldest and losing so many of your siblings. I was the oldest one and only have the one brother that I lost a month ago and I know how I feel-so she must be feeling just really lost to only have two sisters left out of the 8 kids.
    On a brighter note- Your mantle is just sweet and Spring-like and I love the bit of silly thrown in. It is a fun mantle/hearth all the way around. xo Diana

  24. Shelia,
    Dearest One...I am praying right now for you and your sweet Mother on the loss of your Uncle.
    My Dad is the oldest of 10 and he is the only living male with three sisters remaining!
    I understand your Mother's tears and pray the God will comfort her in knowing that she, being the oldest, did all she could to love and nuture her siblings while they were here with her on Earth!
    Love the bunnies!!! Those in pink really stole my heart! Your wreath is gorgeous...and I am quite intriqued with your straw stack with the eggs! I haven't seen anything like that in our area!
    My bunnies are hopping about here on the Praire, but I've managed to keep them contained until next week!!!
    Take all the time you need with your Mother, I'll be watching for your visit when time allows, dear friend!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  26. Has anyone told you today how precious you are? You are, you know. I want to thank you for your kind words on my blog, Shelia. And I also want to say how much I appreciate you. I do. And I have prayed for you and your sweet mother that the Lord will hold you both close. I don't care if you're nine or ninety, it's hard to lose the ones you love and who love you. I celebrate with you the fact that your uncles have gone on home to be with the Lord, but my heart goes out to you and your mother. I pray that she is able to bear this much loss so close together, and I know you are a huge comfort to her. My grandmother had a large family, and it got down to the fact that the only ones left were a brother she loved and a sister who was a tad difficult. But just before Granny went home to be with the Lord, the Lord healed that relationship for which I give thanks. It just seems that so many times people waste time being upset or angry when we should spend that time loving others. That's what my grandmother did best. She loved others and loved well. When I go home some day, she is the one person I want to see first after I see Jesus. I cannot imagine what her crown will look like, but knowning her, she cast it down at Jesus' feet like the hymn says.

    Sending you love and tender thoughts...

    XO,

    Sheila

  28. I will pray for your mama and for you, her dear daughter, as you comfort her. Your mama has experienced a lot of losses in a short time, and I'm sure that's really hard for her. As the oldest, she probably feels somewhat responsible for the youngest, my mom was the oldest of 9 and she always felt responsible.

    Your mantel is perfect for spring, and your home is always beautiful.

    Hugs ~ Mary

  31. Such a beautiful song today, dearest Shelia. I feel for your sweet mama, to be the oldest and see her younger siblings going before her must be very painful. You are blessed to have her still, mine left for heaven while I was in my 30's still.
    Now to your beautiful mantel, it's lovely! I love all of the pink glass bunnies and eggs and nest and everything. Very sweet!

    Your bunnies are spectacular - crickets bring good luck over there huh? Over here its 'owls'. You've inspired me to do a little Aussie decorating for Easter (I actually have ONE very nice ceramic Bunny) Just one though so I will need to be not only creative but imaginative!!

  42. Good morning dear Shelia. Your mantel is ready for the Easter bunny. I love every bit of all the fun and beauty. I have missed you but I have been busy too. I'm sorry about your losses. It is sad to lose loved ones and my prayers are going out to your sweet mom. You are blessed to still have her with you indeed.

    My sisters and I are having a wedding shower for our great niece tomorrow. You can imagine I have been cleaning like a crazy woman and all is ready today. Today I cook and bake and do the flowers. My sister and I are picking daffodils on her mountain. Such fun for a darling niece. She is my brother's granddaughter. The tables look so sweet. I love this kind of thing. Smile.

    Take care my sweet friend.
