Hello, Dear Ones!
Well, I'm a tad bit sad as we dropped off our daughter and little Carter at the airport this morning.
I'm so thankful our son in law allowed them to stay another week as he flew back to go to work.
We have had the best Christmas ever but I must tell you...
I'm plumb tuckered out!
All of my Christmas decorations are still up.
Came home to a house that was upside down so Mr. Precious and I dove in and it's mostly clean and vacuumed.
We have some folks popping in tomorrow and I just had to get it back into some kind of shape.
Now if you follow me on Facebook you've seen most of these, but if you don't, I thought you might like to see a few snaps of Elvira, my little girl Elf on the Shelf.
She was just so much fun.
I knew the mischief would start the moment I brought this little Elf on the Shelf into the house.
Meet Elvira. She was really cutting up this morning.
Uh oh! Chloe Dawn has just discovered Elvira
and she is not going to let her get away with messing with Mommy's
Christmasing. Maybe you should say a tiny prayer for Elvira! :)
Now Elvira has gotten the bunnies involved!
We woke up this morning to beautiful music being played on my piano. Elvira is forgiven ~ for now! :)
Has anyone seen Elvira this morning? I just can't find her!
Well, here we go again...I can't find Elvira. Now where did I put my garland?
While wrapping presents, I heard a ruckus in
the kitchen. I walked in and found Elvira riding my Rooster tassel
saying 'giddiup'! She's not going anywhere but she sure is scratching up
my pantry door.
Little booger! :)
Well, at least I'm happy to learn Elvira knows Jesus. "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36
Hallelujah! She is a little booger though. Just sayin'. :)
Hallelujah! She is a little booger though. Just sayin'. :)
Found Elvira in the dining room this morning,
swinging from the chandy and she was singing "You Light Up My Life"! Oh,
my Lord! :)
Elvira is eating me out of house and home! Especially my cake!
Elvira's a little teapot short and stout. Here is her handle, here is her spout.
When I can't find her, then I pout! She's in trouble and her head pops out!
When I can't find her, then I pout! She's in trouble and her head pops out!
Elvira says, "Maybe I'm blending in and she won't see me!"
Did you hear that? (in a tiny far away voice -
HELP!) There it was again! (GET ME OUTTA HERE - still a small voice) I
haven't seen Elvira this morning. Oh, well, she'll show up soon. (in a
muffled tiny voice - ARE YOU CRAZY? I'M RIGHT HERE!) Hum...
Santie Claus ~ Elvira's main man!
No words. Just prayers for all those affected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook.
She'll never find me here! :)
What's in your wallet?
No one will miss just three candies!
Chocolate is my middle name. :)
I can hold it! I can hold it!
I'm not going to sit on that silly potty!
I'm not going to sit on that silly potty!
Okay, if you'll go get the ham from the fridge, I'll get the bread and chips.
One more slide down the bannister for Elvira.
Chloe Dawn will certainly be glad to know she won't be showing up every day.
Just foolin' around!
Just add bubbles.
Hope you've enjoyed seeing Elvira being a silly.
I have one more little Carter church story to tell you.
Went to church Sunday and Carter started cutting up a bit.
Her mommy took her out into the hall and told her Jesus wanted her to be sweet so they could go back inside.
Carter said, "No, Jesus wants us to go to the park!"
Oh, how I love this stuff!

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Leaving On A Jet Plane
All my bags are packed I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin' it's early morn
The taxi's waitin' he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh baby, I hate to go
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Every place I go, I'll think of you
Every song I sing, I'll sing for you
When I come back, I'll bring your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
One more time let me kiss you
Close your eyes I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times, I won't have to say
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh baby, I hate to go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again

Sad day!! But you will see Carter again, and remember I bet she has such sweet memories of her Christmas with her grandparents. She'll be talking about it forever. Sally
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all the photos of Elvira! So fun!!! That Carter is so cute! Tiger is really starting to talk a lot now also...you just never know what they will say! I know you will miss them, but I do understand the exhaustion!!
ReplyDeletehugs,

ROFL - I got such a kick out of your post today - thanks for the laugh!
ReplyDeleteThat Elvira really gets around!:-) I wish I could blame her for the cake that is missing around here! Sadly, it seems to have found a spot around my waistline!:-)
ReplyDeleteLove little Carter's solution to behavior in church.:-)
What a sweet story, Sheila! You know, Hubby and I just got back from the west coast {3600 miles} after spending Christmas with my children and meeting my little granddaughter. {finally!}
ReplyDeleteMy other grandchildren who live here on the Island, had an Elfie all over the holidays and he caused quite a bit of mischief too. ;)
I still have my Christmas all up. Groan! After I rid myself of the wearies and this head cold I brought home with me, I'll get to putting it all away. Thanks for the smile today.
Blessings,
Sandi

Now I adore the photo of Elvira behind the glass cupbpoard door, but the one with the Bible and saying prayers has to be the sweetest I've seen!!!

You are so fun. I love this little elf. Hugs, Linda
Shelia,
ReplyDeleteElvira made me smile more than once.
Have a blessed day!
xoBarb
Silly Elvira! She's in a heap o' trouble at times, isn't she? And poor Chloe Dawn - she will be so glad when Miss Elvira has made her exit for awhile. Loved the Carter story - reminded me of something our five-year-old grandson told his thirteen-year-old brother the other day. His oldest brother was teasing him and poor Mr. H. had had enough! He looked at his brother - and in a stern voice - said, "You leave me alone. I'm God's kid!" Love these grandkids!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Hi Shelia *hugs*
ReplyDeleteIt must be very quiet at your place right now after having your little Carters sweet voice and self in your home....she is adorable. Its very nice they could stay and visit longer this year.
You've been having quite a lot going on with Elvira there too. I wonder if he is leaving today along with some Christmas around your home....or...is he staying around to be mischevious with your company tomorrow*..
have a great evening...
Judi
Oh my gosh I am dying laughing at Elvira! She sure is a card. Sure hope she didn't have an accident. You know it's harder to hold it than one thinks. Thanks for this fun post. And the Carter story was too, too cute!

ReplyDeleteSweet Shelia...I just love your darling post! Your little elf has a special twinkle in her eyes. She is a lot like you and me and it's obvious that she needs God's touch in her every movement. Such a dear reminder of time in God's Word well spent and moments on our knees.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, my fond friend,
Carolynn xxx
Ouch! You finished such a funny and happy post with one of the saddest songs! I've always loved the song, but it makes me so sad!
ReplyDeleteI'm just thinking how glad I am this elf thing started after my children were big. I think I would have thrown him out the door! The pressure of it all!
Don't go...don't go! I keep coming back to look at his adventures and my pixies don't want to be put away....and this little guy doesn't either! Too much fun...and mischief to get into around the house! I'll be back to look at him again soon. He better be HERE!!!!
