Get Your Motor Runnin'

...head out on the highway...
um, I mean the kitchen!
Hello, Dear Ones.
I've got a little scattered post to share with you today.
First of all, I got a new KitchenAid stand mixer for Christmas!
I know, I know!
Lots of you do not get very excited about an appliance that gets you in the mood to work.
Well, I've been using a little hand mixer for years so I kept dropping tiny little hits for Mr. Precious to get me a KitchenAid.
Y'all, he got the hint and here we are!

 Ain't she purdy?
Ain't she gawjus?
I just love her!

 Look at this side!

Y'all, I'm telling you she is really built!

 Look at her voluptuous bowl!
It can hold the blades that came with her.
Did I tell you how much I love her? :)

Well, I've been covered in flour the last couple of weeks,
baking cookies and biscuits.
See those cute little cutters?
I bought these at Williams Sonoma and just love these too!
Graduated sizes of cutters attached with a little clippy dilly.

So I've baked a cake.
A coconut pound cake that is so delish.

We're having some friends over tomorrow for coffee and cake.
Mr. Precious and I had to sample the cake to make sure it was eating worthy.
It was. It is! :)

Aw, go ahead and grab a slice! What's one more?

So I have my tea glasses out and the little plates for the cake.

Cream and sugar for the coffee.
Tea for me.

The mugs are out waiting to be filled.

 One more little thing.
See the pretty red pitcher?
I got this for my birthday in November. It's Le Creuset and matches my pots!
I love it too and I'm using it to store wooden utensils in.
I didn't make the cute little chicken ~ another little birthday present.
I could have lied and told you I crocheted it, but I'm a good girl! :)

Do you remember this little highchair I painted for my little granddaughter, Carter back a while ago?
Well, she's 2 1/2 now and I really didn't think she would sit in it any more but she loved it and wanted to sit in it even if her tiny little chubby legs where hanging down past the foot rest.
We had a little accident with the highchair.
Carter said one evening, "We gotta get out of here!" and tossed the tray over her tiny head and we heard a CRACK!
The wood tray cracked down the middle when it hit the back of the chair
so Mr. Precious just took it off.
As you can see, Bunny Foo Foo is really miffed that the tray is not there.
You may not can tell, but her legs are crossed and her foot is going to town.
She's miffed.
She'll get over it.

Sorry my post is so misjointed but that's me for awhile.
Y'all, I still have up all my Christmas decorations.
Next week!
Next week I've promised myself they're coming down!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Born To Be Wild

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die

Born to be wild
Born to be wild
~ sung by Steppenwolf

  6. Sheila,
My kitchen aid is about 15 years old and I love it. The motor is starting to slip so I think I will need to replace it soon. I love yours in red (mine is white). I think I will get a pretty color like yours next time. Isn't it so easy to whip up a cake in it? I use mine at least 3 times a week. I even shred cooked chicken in mine. Enjoy it girl!

  8. Love your new red Kitchen Aid. I have had mine for years and it still works great. It has baked so many cakes and cookies in the years that I have had it. Well worth the money. I have the same red pitcher that matches my LC pot. So sad about the high chair.

  12. Oh Shelia, you'll absolutely LOVE your new Kitchen Aid. The red looks so purdy in your kitchen.

I don't know what I'd do without my Kitchen Aid! Gosh, I've had 2 over the years - the first one I got was in 1970, when I started decorating cakes - wedding cakes, that is. I needed it in order to mix cake batter and frosting! Oh, they make life so much easier. Even whipping cream is easier - it's so quick!!

  21. Shelia, like you, I used a hand mixer for decades. A few years ago, Tuesday Morning had a great deal on a Kitchen Aid and it had to come home with us. Love it, too. So happy that Carter was with y'all for Christmas...I know she loves being there. Happy New Year!

  22. You are one lucky gal...and your hubby is a winner in my book. Your mixer is gorgeous! I have had mine for over twenty years and it still works like a charm. I'm lucky that my sister worked for KitchenAid or I probably wouldn't have one. Treasure it!

Have fun with your guests...your cake is lovely! :)

I also have the Kitchen Aid hand mixer, also a work horse, does egg whites real fast and mashed potatoes........love having just the right tools!!!

  43. Hi Shelia, I am so jealous, I want a Kitchen Aid. and it must be red!!! My daughter has one and when she comes to bake cookies she brings it with her. I do have a food processor and it has all the attachments. Would you believe I haven't unpacked it in five years since we moved here? It is big and I don't know where to put it. So, my hand mixer is it. Sigh. Your cake looks delicious and I have tasted your baking. Mmmmmm.

One day. Have fun Shelia...that's silly, you already are. HA!

I just put our few Christmas things away the past two days. Since we were gone I didn't do much.

The highchair tray is a hoot. What did Carter say? I'm still laughing. Poor bunny.

Love your beautiful gifts and I love you too my sweet friend.

  44. Hi Shelia, Lucky you, I have wanted a Kitchen Aid but they are big and my cabinet space is small. I know you are having lots of fun. I would too. Love the red. Your red pitcher is awesome. The utensils look very nice in there.

I am laughing at Carter's tray toss. Ms. bunny will forgive her I know. Who can resist that darling little thing.

Have fun baking up a storm. Wish I could help you eat the cake.
    Love, Jeanne

  55. I have to agree with you; I love my Kitchen-Aid too! Mine was a wedding gift from my husband, 8 years ago, and it's red too. They come in a nice array of colors. I remember watching a show called Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee and she had a different color Kitchen-aid to match her themed decor. She must own a dozen or more of them.
