Helllllllllllllllllllp Please!

Hello, Dear Ones.
Can anyone help me? I woke up this morning, logged into my blog and starting vising you and leaving comments. I just happened to notice that my comment wasn't being saved to your blogs. I glanced up at my sign in spot and my blog said I wasn't signed in. I went back to my Dashboard and it said I was signed in. So again I go back to my blog and it says I'm not signed in! What's going on? Are any of you having any problems like this? I've been all over the net trying to find a solution, so far no good. I have been using the old Blogger editor as I didn't like the new one. But I've clicked over to the new one hoping I can post this.

I'm thinking the problem in in Google Chrome as I was looking at my settings last night and may have clicked something I shouldn't have! I don't know!

In the mean time I'm stuck!

I'm Green With Envy!

Hello, Dear Ones!
I hate to admit it, but I am totally GREEN with envy!
It's a fact and I'm ashamed! :(

As I pop around Blogland, I'm seeing so many of your lovely gardens and they are filled with color, blooms and flowers.
Alas, I've been lazy this year and have not worked in my most tiny backyard.
The heat is already here and we have such high humidity that I, in my most delicate state, begin to wilt and just melt in the heat.
So I've stayed indoors and coveted your pretty gardens.

I have truly been GREEN with envy and now I'm so ashamed.
Here sits Bunny Foo Foo watching and guarding the yard and
waiting to see a pretty planted flower all colored up!

You'll see all those little dead 'tails' around him.
We had a freeze this winter which is rare here on the island and the Norfolk Pine tree has suffered.
It's protesting by dropping the little dead tails!

Oh, but my little lemons are just growing to beat the band!
Can you see the teeny tiny spider web thread on the right side connected to the lemon?
Well, as thrilled as I am to have my little lemons - they're GREEN.

There is a little hope for my poor backyard.
Here's some blue!

Never hurts to have another little rabbit hiding in the garden.
But I know he's waiting to sniff some most fragrantly planted blooms.
Have patience, little bunny.

But wait!
What do I see?

Now this just thrills me! Do you know what this is?
Dear One, this is a weed that is taller than our 6 feet high fence.
Now it's not in my yard but in the alleyway behind my house.

But it's blooms are so big and so pretty!
I had to share!
But it is mocking me, I just know it!
Don't get too close ~ you just might sneeze!

Here's another GREEN plant in my garden and I think in this snap it looks like rubber!

Pretty, GREEN and rubbery looking!
I love this plant and affectionately call it our 'Finger Plant'.
But alas...no flowers and no sweet smell.

Who is this little couple?
Oh, I do believe this is Hansel and Gretel.
Now what in the world are they looking at among the GREENS?

Chloe Dawn!
She's just a wigglin' her little fuzzy hiney down the little path.
Where's she goin'?

Can I come in, Mommy?
Oh, my little black fuzzy face.
Gotta love her!
I see she's GREEN with envy too.
Maybe before it gets 100' I'll get off this puter and go by some flowers.
Until then I'll continue to be GREEN with envy as I look at yours!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

You Are So Beautiful

You are so beautiful
To me
You are so beautiful
To me

Can't you see? Can't you see?
You're everything that I hoped for
And you are everything I need
And you are so beautiful to me

Can't you see? Can't you see?
You're everything that I hoped for
And you're everything
You're everything to me

You are so beautiful
To me

Parties and To Redo or Not To Redo. That Is the Question :)

Hello, Dear Ones.
Hope you're all having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and my sincere thanks to all who have served in our nation's military - past and present.

Last week I didn't attend any parties.
Can you believe it?
I love all of our parties in Blogland but I feel I need to hang back for a while.
There are so many many parties now and of course I want to come to them all.
I think I've let my partying get in the way of why I started blogging in the first place.
I've read some posts from other blog friends who feel the same way.
Please know I love all of you party hostesses and I'll still be popping in to visit and soaking up the inspiration but just not joining any parties for a while.

Well, enough of that!

To redo or not to redo?
That's an easy question.

It was time to do a redo on my breakfast room hutch.

Yard birds hopped up on the top of my hutch to keep watch.
I poked some greens in my little metal Rooster container.
Done!

 See this plate?
I was introduced to a new little thrift shop
and was told there were some Rooster dishes there calling my name.
Yep, they were and I brought them home.
Don't you just love the pattern?

The dishes are made by Knowles.
Don't know nuttin' about Knowles but I do knows I loves these cute retro Rooster dishes.

 1 Platter
9 Dinner Plates
7 Salads Plates
5 Dessert Plates
for
$10.00

 Was that a good deal?
I don't know, but I think so and besides...I love them! :)

Now if you know me, you know I love my yard birds
and they've just hopped all over, above and in my hutch!

I grabbed my little wooded tray, poked down some greens, a handmade tea towel, childhood Roosters Salt and Pepper shakers, and olden rolling pin and a fairly new white Rooster! :)

Now my hutch has been redone for a little while anyway.
Redoing is always fun! :)

Time to Change

Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na
Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na

Autumn turns to winter,
And winter turns to spring.
It doesn't go just for seasons you know,
It goes for everything.

The same is true for voices,
When boys begin to grow.
You gotta take a lesson from Mother Nature,
And if you do you'll know.

When it's time to change, then its time to change
Don't fight the tide, come along for the ride, don't you see
When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange
who you are into what you're gonna be.
Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na
Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na

Day by day, it's hard to see the changes you've been through
A little bit of living, a little bit of growing all adds up to you
Every boy's a man inside, a girl's a woman too
And if you wanna reach your destiny, here's what you've got to do

Autumn turns to winter,
And winter turns to spring.
It doesn't go just for seasons you know,
It goes for everything.

The same is true for voices,
When boys begin to grow.
You gotta take a lesson from Mother Nature,
And if you do you'll know.

Whiteout on the Table

Hello, Dear Ones!

I've changed the top of my coffee table in the den.
A kinda whiteout!

I'm still being a bit lazy and just took my big ole pitcher with the tulips off my mantel and poked it down on my coffee table.
Hope it's still okay be tuliping in May!
I'm a poet too! :)
Well, I poked it down on a silver plated tray.

I love this big ole white pitcher and my faux tulips!
Can you love a big ole white pitcher filled with faux tulips?
You bet your allergied itchy eyeballs you can! :)

I had just turned around to answer the phone and when I looked back at my tray,
a mother bird and her two little babies had landed.
I think they're making this there home for the moment.
They have certainly contributed to the whiteout! :)

Hope you're all getting warm weather where you are now.
It's been in the high 80s here and my allergies are pounding in my tiny head!

Bird Song

All I know is something like a bird within her sang,
All I know she sang a little while and then flew on,
Tell me all that you know, Ill show you snow and rain.

If you hear that same sweet song again, will you know why?
Anyone who sings a tune so sweet is passin by,
Laugh in the sunshine, sing, cry in the dark, fly through the night.

Dont cry now, dont you cry, dont you cry anymore.
Sleep in the stars, dont you cry, dry your eyes on the wind.

All I know is something like a bird within her sang,
All I know she sang a little while and then flew off,
Tell me all that you know, Ill show you snow and rain.

Olden Vignette

Hello Dear Ones.
I sat up a little vignette on my breakfast room table and wanted to share it with you.

This little cutie is the central attraction here on my table.
I found her recently at a thrift shop and she stole my heart.
Don't think all I do is shop! :)
I poked a few little flowers in the baskets she's carrying.

Look at her darling little face and little kerchief around her little head.
She looks like an olden piece, doesn't she?
I believe she is but there's no markings on her.

I added this teapot given to me by my daughter many years ago.

If we're having tea we need cream and sugar.
More olden pieces.

Please sit down, grab you a cup and we'll have a spot of tea!

Take A Chance On Me

If you change your mind, I'm the first in line
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around
If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down
If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie
If you put me to the test, if you let me try

Take a chance on me
(That's all I ask of you honey)
Take a chance on me

We can go dancing, we can go walking, as long as we're together
Listen to some music, maybe just talking, get to know you better
'Cos you know I've got
So much that I wanna do, when I dream I'm alone with you
It's magic
You want me to leave it there, afraid of a love affair
But I think you know
That I can't let go

If you change your mind, I'm the first in line
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around
If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down
If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie
If you put me to the test, if you let me try

Take a chance on me
(Come on, give me a break will you?)
Take a chance on me
Oh you can take your time baby, I'm in no hurry, know I'm gonna get you
You don't wanna hurt me, baby don't worry, I ain't gonna let you
Let me tell you now
My love is strong enough to last when things are rough
It's magic
You say that I waste my time but I can't get you off my mind
No I can't let go
'Cos I love you so

If you change your mind, I'm the first in line
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around
If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down
If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best, baby can't you see
Gotta put me to the test, take a chance on me
(Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance on me)

Ba ba ba ba baa, ba ba ba ba baa
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best, baby can't you see
Gotta put me to the test, take a chance on me
(Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance on me)

Ba ba ba ba baa, ba ba ba ba baa ba-ba
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me

I've Flipped

Hello, Dear Ones.
I felt it was time to do some flippin' on my baker's rack in the breakfast room.

Here it is all dusted and flipped!

This is the way it was formally dressed.

Well, I decided I would lighten and brighten it up a bit.

 Here's the top shelf.
I brought in more whites and summery colors.

I've found a few treasures in the past weeks and the chicken tureen is one of them.
Isn't she cute?
I'm loving her all cute like and sitting on her little nest and some cookbooks.
She can't read so I know it was okay that I poked a chicken one under her nest to raise her up a bit.

I was just thrilled to find this pretty Westmoreland paneled milk glass pitcher.
So I poked in some blooms - faux ones, of course! :)

 Here's the second shelf.
When I first got my baker's rack, I made little reversible runners for each shelf.
I flipped them over to the toile side
- lighter and brighter.

I love my little hens on nests and have a couple more.
I'm always on the lookout for these!

I kept out this cute little dish rack so I could poke some of my dishes in it.
Look really closely on these first little plates you'll see some very sweet Roosters.
You know how I love my yard birds. :)

I keep a couple of my Le Cruset pots here so when I need one, they're handy.

Well, I've flipped!
I'll be looking around my house to see what else can be flipped! :)

I'll live you with a little Note Song ~

The Change

One hand
Reaches out
And pulls a lost soul from harm
While a thousand more go unspoken for
They say what good have you done
By saving just this one
It's like whispering a prayer
In the fury of a storm

And I hear them saying you'll never change things
And no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world will know
That it will not change me

This heart
Still believes
The love and mercy still exist
While all the hatred rage and so many say
That love is all but pointless in madness such as this
It's like trying to stop a fire
With the moisture from a kiss

And I hear them saying you'll never change things
And no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world will know
That it will not change me

As long as one heart still holds on
Then hope is never really gone

I hear them saying you'll never change things
And no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world we know
Never changes me

What I do is so
This world will know
That it will not change me

Currier and Ives - Part Five

Hello, Dear Ones.
I have so much enjoyed showing you my collection of Currier and Ives dishes and serving pieces
and thank you for all your sweet comments.
This is absolutely my last and final post of my collection.
I promise! :)

This is my dessert set by Harkerware.
It has the cake plate, six dessert plates and the server.

Look at the pretty scene, in color this time, in the center of the cake plate.
I guess I can only use this set in the winter time? :)
NAH!

Look at the pretty server with a little ring of gold on the handle.
Brrr...again, but sweet none the less.

Doesn't this make your tiny mouth water for spice cake and hot cider?

There's six dessert plates that are in this set
although I'm not so sure these are all of the original plates because of the scenes.
The scenes on two of the plates don't match.
There may have been eight plates that came with this set.
I'm just not sure.
Do I care? No no Nannette, I don't care! :)

The edges are all ruffly and have a rim of gold circling the plates.

 Do you like this set?
I love it and I have used it a few times.
Now all we need is a cake to poke down on the cake plate.

Aw...that's better ~ a home made coconut pound cake.
Yummy!

 Would you like a slice?
Since you have been so patient with me viewing all of my Currier and Ives posts
I just had to bake you a cake!
Grab a plate...

There you go.
Isn't this good?
One more tiny olden thing...

I'm going to show you now just how olden I really am.
This is where I keep my cakes I bake.
I received this as a wedding gift in 1969!
My olden cake saver has a few boo boos on the lid but I don't care.
It keeps all of my home made cakes so fresh.
I do have other more modern cake savers, but I always grab this one.

Hope you've enjoyed my collection and cake!

Just in case you would want to try this, I'm going to share my recipe for the coconut pound cake.
Honey, it's so good and I know you'll love it.

Coconut Pound Cake

3/4 cup softened butter
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
3/4 tsp vanilla flavoring
1/2 tsp coconut flavoring
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup coconut milk (you don't have to use coconut milk, but it makes the cake much more moist)
Confectioner's sugar to sprinkle on top - optional

Preheat oven to 325'

In large mixing bowl, cream butter, cream cheese and sugar til light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in vanilla and coconut flavorings. Fold in coconut.

Coat a 8" fluted pan with shortening and dust with flour.
Pour batter into pan and bake for 55 - 60 minutes or til done. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar and enjoy! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Mac Arther Park (just the chorus)

Mac Arthur Park's is melting in the dark
all the sweet green icing flowing down
someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
and I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, nooo!
~ sung by Richard Harris
