Still on a Journal

Hello, Dear Ones.
Nope, that's not a typepo - I'm sharing with you today my work on the circle journal pages I've just completed.

Oh, before I continue, I apologize for the date on my last post!
I'm really not crazy, well, a little bit I am.
But that was supposed to be a post for later but it published anyway.
I clicked on the new updated (and filled with bugs) Blogger publishing.
I'm not sure I'm liking it.
My snaps don't ever load the way I pick!
Have you noticed how things are looking different?
Well, the new publisher is not as user friendly, I don't think, as the old one was.
I tried to get back to the older version ~ couldn't find how to.
Shoot!

Well, I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

On with the show...
Nancy's journal theme is "Words of Wisdom".
So, naturally I thought of my mamma and how she always had her words of wisdom that she would say to me over and over.
So my take on Nancy's theme was...

I found some Mommy and Me paper dolls online and printed them out.
I even cut out little outfits for them! My tiny delicate creamy fingers were having a ball!
The perfect mamma and daughter from the 1950s, like me and my mamma.
See the sweet little mamma?
Hair all coiffed, makeup on and smiling sweetly.

I made a teeny tiny little apron for the mamma and sewed on some teeny tiny little lace.
My mamma always wore an apron in the kitchen too.
She had a special drawer just packed with aprons.

Some little 1950s goodness from the kitchen.
I don't think we ever had a meal, especially dinner, without some kind of dessert!
Oh, those were the day! :)

Here's the second page.

I printed and cut out these three little aprons on card stock and folded them down at the waist like a note card.
I tacky glued some lace at the hems.
See, I told you I was talented! :)

Then with all of my creativity and talentedness,
I wrote a few little mamma sayings under the aprons.
You know I'm kidding about my talentedness, well, sort of. :)

Here's the little "me' part of the Mommy and Me paper dolls.
I wore little gathered tailed dresses, that's what my mother called them, just like this little girl has on.
Had the 'stand out slips' underneath too. My mamma called them 'stand out slips'.
Wonder why she has on green shoes?
Well, they match her lollipop! :)

Just a few little words of wisdom from mamma!
Did your mamma have special sayings for you too?
These words of wisdom were passed on down to my children too!

Hope you've enjoyed seeing my contribution to Nancy's journal.

Mamma Said

Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this Mama said
(Mama said, mama said)
Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this my Mama said
(Mama said, mama said)
I went walking the other day,
Everything was going fine,
I met a little boy named Billy Joe
And then I almost lost my mind
Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this Mama said
(Mama said, mama said)
Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this my Mama said
My eyes are wide open
But all that I can see is,
chapel bells are callin for everyone but-a me
but I don't worry cause
Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this Mama said
(Mama said, mama said)
Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this my Mama said
And then she said someone will look at me
like I'm looking at you one day,
then I might find
I don't want it any old way,
so I don't worry cause
Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this Mama said
(Mama said, mama said)
Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this my Mama said
Mama said, mama said
Hey! Don't you worry,
Mama said mama said
Hey! Don't you worry now.
Mama said mama said,
Hey! Hey!

Happy Soup

Hello, Dear Ones!

Not much happening here at Note Songs Cottage.
But it's lunch time!

I have a little bowl of tomato soup for you.

Instead of water I use milk which makes it ever so creamy and good,
a little salt and pepper.

I've poked down some little soup crackers.
Love 'em!

And all of the little soup crackers have decided to get into formation and bless you with a smile!
Happy Soup!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Easter Garden Explosion

Hello, Dear Ones!
How are you today?
I've had something happen on my drop leaf table ~ an explosion!

 Yep, an Easter garden explosion.

Just a garden explosion on my table.

Here's a little hare under glass with an egg in hand.

 Two little helpful darlings.

 Oh, my Lord!
These two have been smooching ever since I've brought them home.
They are sure in love.

Bunnies in a cart!
They're pretending the cart is a car.

At the back of my explosion is a basket of Spring flowers I made probably over ten years ago to sit on my mantel.

Can you believe I've kept it all these years?
I'm so sentimental like that you know! :)

Well, I pulled my basket down from a high shelf and got to cleaning the leaves and flowers.

Getting rid of dust and making the flowers and leaves look new and Springlike.
I'm so talented like that you know! :)

I kinda like it when Easter garden explosions are filled with such sweetness, don't you?

All In An Easter Garden

All in an Easter garden
Before the break of day,
An angel came from heavenAnd rolled the stone away. When Jesus' friends came seeking,With myrrh and spices rare,They found the angels at the door,But Jesus was not there. All in an Easter garden,Where water lilies bloom,The angels gave their messageBeside an empty tomb:"The Lord is here no longer,Come, see where once he lay;The Lord of life is risen indeed,For this is Easter day."

Coconut Cream To Die For Pie

Hello, Dear Ones!
I have so enjoyed coming to all of the Spring parties in Blogland, have you?
I've gotten so much inspiration and ideas from you.
Well, I'm excited to come to another Spring party hosted by the most gorgeous and talented writer, Michael Lee from Rattlebridge Farm, formally Designs By Gollum and her special Spring Foodie Friday.
Sorry I'm late! Yesterday was our wedding anniversary! 39 years!

This is a most wonderful Coconut Cream Pie.

 Yummy and light.

 Creamy and delicious.

Hope you'll try it. If you do, let me know what you think.

Coconut Cream To Die For Pie

Ingredients:

One baked pie crust (Pie Crust Recipe also) or use a graham cracker crust
3 cups of scaled milk
1/3 cups of flour
2/3 cups of sugar
Pinch of salt
1 cup of fine coconut
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
4 tsp butter
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp almond extract
1/4 tsp coconut extract

To scald milk, pour into microwave safe bowl and place a small wooden spoon in it. It's crazy but it will keep the milk from overheating. Microwave for 3 - 4 minutes and you're ready.

In saucepan combine flour, sugar, salt and coconut and slowly add 1 cup of scalded milk, stirring constantly over medium heat. As it begins to thicken a bit, add another cup of milk, continuing to stir. When this thickens a little, add the last cup of milk while stirring constantly. Continue to cook over medium heat until mixture thickens and remove from heat. Pour about 1/2 cup of hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks whisking constantly. Then pour it immediately back into the saucepan, continuing to stir constantly. Cook and stir for 2 - 3 more minutes until filling reaching a pudding consistency. Mixture should just be about to boil. Remove from heat.

Stir in the butter and extracts. Cool before pouring into your pie shell. I usually just poke the saucepan into the fridge to speed up the cooling. :) I'm so talented like this, you know! :)

Top with whipped cream or meringue! I prefer meringue sprinkled with some coconut flakes. You'll have your 3 egg whites left over so go to town!

Easiest Ever Pie Crust
Before I leave, I wanted to share with you this wonderful pie crust recipe I found on Pinterest. Click here for the original. I've never been very good at making pie crusts but this one is truly a winner. You will just about die at how easy this is.

1 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 Tbsp milk

Preheat oven to 400'.
Get ready to almost die! Pour all of your ingredients into your pie plate and stir it up! Now you just pat it down on the bottom of your pie plate and up the sides. Yep! Poke some holes in it with fork and you're ready to bake for about 15 minutes or until brown. The only thing I do differently is spray non stick spray in my pie plate first!
Trust me, this pie crust is delicious, light and stays crispy! You'll love it!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Sugar Pie Honey Bunch

Sugarpie honeybunch
You know that I love you
I can't help myself
I love you and nobody else
In and out my life
You come and you go
Leaving just your picture behind
And I kissed it a thousand times

When you snap your fingers
Or wink your eye
I come a running to you
I'm tied to you, baby
And there's nothing I can do
Ooh, sugar

Sugarpie honeybunch
I'm weaker than a man should be
I can't help myself
I'm a fool in love you see
Wanna tell you I don't love you
Tell you that we're through
And I've tried
But everytime I see your face
I get up all choked up inside

When I call your name, girl
It starts the flame burning in my heart
Tearin' it all apart
No matter how I try
My love I cannot hide

Sugarpie honeybunch
You now that I'm weak for you
I can't help myself
I love you and nobody else

Sugarpie honeybunch
I'll do anything you ask me to
I can't help myself
I want you and nobody else

Sugarpie honeybunch
You know that I love you
I can't help myself

Taking Care of Business

They get up every morning from the alarm clock's warning
Take the eight-fifteen into the city
There's a whistle up above and people push and people shove
And all the girls, who try to look pretty
And if your train's on time you can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day

And I've been takin' care of business everyday
Takin' care of business every way
I've been takin' care of business it's all mine
Takin' care of business and working overtime
Workout

If things were easy as fishing you could be a musician
If you could make sounds loud or mellow
Get a second hand guitar
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of fellows
People see you having fun just a lying in the sun
And tell them that you like it this way
It's the work that we avoid and we're all self employed
We love to work at nothing all day

And we've been takin' care of business everyday
Takin' care of business every way

We've been takin' care of business it's all right

How I Felt

Hello, Dear Ones! I'm going to show you 'how I felt'! Did I get you with my title? :)

Having a grandbaby has gotten me into thinking of unusual things I can make for her.

I could go to the store and buy up lots of toys and cute things.
Well, I do that, but I wanted to make things for her that would be different.

I shared with you HERE (you can see the Valentine ornaments I made for Carter) about how she loved the Christmas tree and its lights so much that I ordered her a little white tree with lights on it so she could have it up and my daughter could decorate it seasonally.
Got me to thinking...hey, I can make little felt ornaments!
Time for Spring Easter ornies!
Ta Dah!!

Here is the tree topper, so to speak. A little rabbit with embroidery all over it.
My most talented dainty fingers have been going to town!

Then my tiny fingers made four of these blue birds and each have a different colored daisy stitched flower on its wing.

More bunnies...I made four of these leaping bunnies. Two blanket stitched in green...

and two bunnies stitched in pink. Aren't they so cute?
I'm bragging on my most tiny ;) self!

I made four of these silly little sheep.

My tiny dainty talented fingers kept going and I made four bunny peep heads, two with blue flowers...

and then I made two bunny head peeps with pink.
Guess where I got most of my inspiration ~
a few from web sites and Pinterest!
How I love Pinterest!
If you follow me there, you'll notice I'm constantly pinning little felt ornaments.
Hope I'm not committing crimes by making my own from these Pinterest pictures.

These were my own idea ~ silly little chicks popping out of eggs!
Each one looks a tad different.

Before I box up the Easter ornies and send them to little Carter, I just had to put them on my own little feather tree to check them out. Oh, and of course, to show you! :)

Do you think my little Carter will like her Easter ornies? I sure hope so.
I'm thinking of Mother's Day and Father's Day now.
So I guess I can say...stay tuned for more of How I Felt! :)
I'm so clever! :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Everything I Do, I Do It For You

Look into my eyes, you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart, search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more

Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do, I do it for you

Look into your heart, you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am, take my life
I would give it all, I would sacrifice

Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it, there's nothin' I want more
You know it's true
Everything I do, I do it for you
Oh yeah

There's no love, like your love
And no other, could give more love
There's nowhere, unless you're there
All the time, all the way, yeah

Look into your heart, baby

Oh, you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it, there's nothin' I want more
Yeah, I would fight for you, I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you, yeah I'd die for you

You know it's true
Everything I do, oh, I do it for you
