Golden Yardbirds

Hello, Dear Ones
I put together a little vignette on my kitchen counter.

Being this is Sunday, I'm having memories of long ago when I was a little girl.
After church on Sundays we would drive up the mountains where my grandparents lived in Alabama for lunch and a nice time of playing with my cousins.

Granny's specialy for lunch - Golden Yardbird.
For those who may not know what that means - Fried Chicken.
Yum yum! :)

Now my Granddaddy would just pop out into the backyard, grab a couple of those yardbirds and do what you do (I'll spare you the gory details).
Then Granny would fry them up, golden brown, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside.
Lord, have mercy! :)

Now I don't care for the dark meat of the yardbirds today, but as a little girl I wanted the drumstick.
My cousins and I would eeny meeny miny moe to see which one of us would get one.
I can still remember how that greasyness would gather around my tiny little face.
Yuk!! :)

 Okay, back to reality.
Hope you enjoyed walking down memory lane with me today and maybe after church we'll go to KFC!

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA

Shine on me sunshine
Walk with me world, it's a skippidy doo da day
I'm the happiest girl in the whole U.S.A.

Good morning, mornin', hello sunshine
Wake up, sleepy head
Why'd you move that bojangle clock
So far away from the bed?

Just one more minute that's why we moved it
One more hug or two
Do you love wakin' up next to me
As much as I love wakin' up next to you?

You make the coffee, I'll make the bed
I'll fix your lunch, and you'll fix mine!
Now tell me the truth do these old shoes look funny?
Honey, it's almost nine

Now you be careful, got to go
"I love you, have a beautiful day!"
And kiss the happiest girl in the whole U.S.A.

Skippidy doo da thank you Lord for makin' him for me
And thank you for letting life turn out the way
That I always thought it could be

There once was a time, that I could not imagine
How it would feel to say
I'm the happiest girl in the whole U.S.A.

Now shine on me sunshine
Walk with me world, it's a skippidy doo da day
I'm the happiest girl in the whole U.S.A.

Shine on me sunshine
Walk with me world, it's a skippidy doo da day
I'm the happiest girl in the whole U.S.A.

Shine on me sunshine
Walk with me world, it's a skippidy doo da day
I'm the happiest girl in the whole U.S.A.
