Hello, Dear Ones.
Well, let me tell you about it.
Mr. Precious and I had invited two couples to join us for dinner last week.
They said, "Yes! We'd love to come!"
A couple of hours before they were to arrive, one couple called and couldn't come because of a last minuet happening.
Okay, I'll just take away a couple of place settings.
Then the other couple called and couldn't come!
Poop! Had they planned this?
Naw, just life happening so we postponed it for next week.
I was going to have a taco salad and dessert.
Everything was chopped, the lettuce, tomatoes, onions and had my guacamole made but I hadn't cooked the hamburger meat yet!
So I was good!
I had used some plates I found at Marshalls many years ago.
The napkins I used were from Dillards years ago and matched just perfectly I thought.
I only have four dessert/salad plates so Mr. Precious and I gave the plates to our almost guests.
My old faithful glasses show up a lot on my tables.
Now will I change my table for next week?
Maybe, maybe not, well, I would clean the weekly dust off the dishes. ;)
But...

But...
But for now I'm enjoying my little centerpiece with flowers from the grocery store.
Don't take much to make me happy! :)
Just sayin'. :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
The Last Song
Did you know I'd go to sleep
And leave the lights on
Hopin' you'd come by
And know that I was home and still awake
But two years go by and still my lights on
This is hard for me to say
But this is all that I can say
It's the last song I'll ever write for you
It's the last time that I'll tell you
Just how much I really care
This is the last song I'll ever sing for you
You come looking for the light and it won't be there
But I love you, oh, yes I do, yes I do
All the times that I've spent waiting
Wondering where you are
Always knew the time would come
When I would start to wonder why
Now the time is here
I don't know where you are
So I'll write you one more song
But it's the last time that I'll try
It's the last song I'll ever write for you
It's the last time that I'll tell you
Just how much I really care
This is the last song I'll ever sing for you
You come looking for the light and it won't be there
But I love you, oh, yes I do, mmm mmm
It's the last song I'll ever write for you

Aw I would have been on standby and come at a moments notice Shelia!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the crockery, it is really beautiful. And, I would never have thought of presenting single flowers in little jar/bottles, the arrangement is creative and looks fabulous. I am 'borrowing' that little idea! I hope we hear about the dinner-to-be-next-week!
Glad you did not have a large complicated dish in the oven. The plates and napkins surely go together. My friend Fancy is giving a last minute dinner party for 14 tonight. I cannot imagine. My kiddo is making a stir fry for us. Have fun at the next get together. xoxo, Olive
ReplyDeleteShelia, I am sure you were very disappointed but you seem to have handled the situation with patience and class. They surely missed out on a good meal with very nice hosts. Hope things work out better next time. The table looks very appropriate with the menu you planned. The colorful dishes are so pretty. ------------- Shannon
ReplyDeleteBest laid plans.......I'd definitely leave that charming table setting. I smiled when I saw your jars marching down the center of your table. Guess what is currently marching down ours? Yep, my aqua ball jars filled with yellow flowers from our garden. ;-)
ReplyDeleteTaco salad sounds delicious. Just this week we were talking about how we haven't had a taco salad in way too long. ~ sarah
You set a beautiful table and your menu sounds delicious. Hopefully, they show up next time. I'd be there!

ReplyDeleteI love your pretty floral dishes and the mason jars running down the table with those cream flowers. Too bad I did not live closer I would have been happy to fill in xo
ReplyDeleteShelia,
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer, dear friend! Hope your guests will be able to make it a "rain check" for dinner, soon! Your tablescape is lovely! I adore the color palette and I love the roses in the dinnerware and the napkins! Your centerpiece is stunning, too! Let us know if that ever happens again and "Mr. Ed" and I would love to join you and "Mr. Precious"!:)
Fondly,
Pat
I hate that you were all set to go and your guests couldn't come. The table looked just beautiful and will be just as pretty next week too.
ReplyDeleteYes, life happens, but it's also a little disappointing when you've made all those lovely preparations. I guess you had a practice run. Your table looked so pretty!
