The Scrap Room

Hello, Dear Ones!
I've shown you my sun porch before and I have shown you the screen I made using the shutters that I took off all of the windows of Note Songs cottage.
You know how talented I am! ;)

Here's my screen, but....
today I'm going to take you behind the screen for the first time!
Be prepared.

EEEEK!!!
I know I have totally scared my reputation showing you this mess!
Well, my 'scrap room' as I call it became the 'junk room'.
Nasty nasty nasty!
I have been trying so hard to declutter and neaten up my home, so...

I decluttered, neatened and straightened.

Found a home for all my little tools.
These are in a little rolling cart with drawers that I keep beside my long table.
The bottom drawer holds my journals I write in when I travel ~
also helps when I am scrapbooking.

I have a great shelf on the right side of my table that holds 'scrapping' stuff.
Pictures in boxes on top, special paper crafting books, special scissors.

And lots of scrapbook paper.

Next to my bookshelf is another rolling cart and you can see I keep a basket here filled with my faux fruit in case I need a snack! :)

Then the drawers are filled to the rim with stamps.

Now the other side of the room.
This is a narrow space and I just do the best I can here.
Mr. Precious gave me these great metal file cabinets he had in one of his offices that he didn't need any more.
Trust me, they are filled ~ neatly though ~ just in case you were wondering! ;)

These cabinets have given me lots of counter space.
So I poked up a couple of little shoe shelves from Walmart or Target ~ it's been so long I've forgotten.

These little containers are great to hold my little embellishments and I've labeled each drawer so it's easier to find what I'm looking for.
I also keep some ribbons, brads, markers, etc. in this area.
Now I've had this set up for about 6 years or so, but had just let all my junk pile up in here.
You know how it gets sometimes.

I know I probably should think about unifying the colors of my pieces,
but heck, I'm just glad to have them.
This bookshelf used to hold my scrapbooks but I decided to poked dishes and such in here.

See the big basket of flowers on top?
Well, that's the basket I have on my mantel at the moment.

Now this is the area right behind my screen I showed you.
This is not a table but a very olden metal office bookshelf ~ another present from Mr. Precious' office from long ago!
I threw a table cloth over it so I could hide what's on the shelves ~ a gazillion scrap books.

Stuff I've poked on top.
I keep my paper cutter where the big basket of flowers are.
I was just staging for you! ;)

Well, now that I'm totally too pooped to pop, I'll rest my most tiny bum (not) in this little chair my mother gave me that need recovering so badly!

We all have to do the best with what we have.
Well, unless you have unlimited funds and can do what you want! :)
It just makes me fell better knowing now my scrap room is all clean and neat
and I can go to town crafting and find what I need.
So remember...
how would you ever appreciate pretty if you'd never seen or made a mess! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave a you a little Note Song~

I Can See Clearly Now

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone

All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin?for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there’s nothin?but blue skies

Look straight ahead, nothin?but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,

I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

  6. Shelia, you are so cute! You certainly have a lot of crafting materials but I know you use them all the time and make beautiful things. That is something I don't do. I only take pictures. :) If you could see my web albums you'd know. Talk about clutter! Your craft room looks like a great place to create. Have fun! Pamela

  7. Shelia, I know you didn't mean to do it but you have made me feel so sloppy! Your space for crafting looks so clean and neat! It is no surprise that you whip up such cute crafts since you have a well organized work room. Actually, I am not too bad because I have been working on my craft room too. I will show it when it is all done. I want to thank you for the times you came to my party. I am no longer doing it because I need some time to pursue some other opportunities. I will definitely still be doing my Cozy Home Scenes blog so you can still pop in to visit as usual. I'll continue to pop in here to see what masterpieces you create!---------Shannon

  10. What a great little studio! I love that you can move those shutters and be more a part of the action if you want. (At least I think you can move the shutters.) And what a lovely view out the window too. Nice cozy spot - the best kind!

  29. What a great space you've carved out for yourself, Shelia! I've been straightening up my space, too. It does tend to become a "let me put this here for now" place. I am trying to put things away as I am done using them so that doesn't happen anymore. We'll see how that goes! : )

  30. It looks like you've carved out a very nice space for you to create your crafts! Love how organized it is now. I bet that's a fun place to be when you're feeling creative.

  31. Hi Shelia,
What a wonderful space to craft in. I need to go through my sewing closet again and clean it out, it was clean and neat once LOL and then I made another mess hehehe....
I have never tried scrap booking, it does look like fun, maybe when I retire I will be able to put all the photos in order.
Have a sweet week and hugs, Elizabeth

  32. Shelia,
Oh, my dear friend...how you inspire me! I read this post early this morning before going off to work. This afternoon...with "Mr. Ed's" help..I declutered, straighten and re~staged the Guest Room! Much like you, I had put things in there until I could barely get through the room. I was quite ashamed of myself!!! What a transformation!!! Thank you for reminding us to appreciate what we have and to make it the "best" we can!
    Fondly,
    Pat
P.S. That chair that your Mother gave you looks mighty inviting! I'm pooped out, too!

  37. Hi Sheila,

When you revealed what was behind the screen, I thought I was looking into the prettiest of shops - kind of like a gift or craft store. Lovely and charming!

Thanks for stopping by today and for the sweet comment.

  41. I think it is a great area. Looks like you screened off part of another room. I think that is a great idea.

Looks so organized now. I scrapbook too so have so many supplies. But I also sew and do other crafts. I keep trying to declutter my craft room.

  42. Wow! I love that screen. Your cluttered area wasn't that bad 'cuz it was neat and organized clutter. I do like better now. I have the same containers for my stamps...which is kind of a joke, 'cuz I rarely use them anymore. I need to organize my craft paper like yours. I agree that is feels so good to reclutter, straighten, and organize!

    Happy 4th of July Missy!
