Come On Back Into The Kitchen

Hello, Dear Ones!
I thought I would bring into my tiny little kitchen today.

I got it all cleaned up for my visit with Jeanne and had to show it to you before I messed it all up.

I know I show you the same angles in here, but it's so small I don't have anywhere else to stand to snap! :)

I had set the breakfast room table pretty simply for our dessert.

Pulled out some of my colorful dishes.
They were blooming with flowers since it's summertime.

Simple.

Had to have a little centerpiece so I poked some faux hydrangeas and a doily in a little tool box!

Okay, see that shiny tin foil over there?

Well, I knew Jeanne was coming so I baked a cake.
A skillet cake!
I forgot to take a snap of it to show you, but it was pretty and chocolately.
Now trust me, this is a delicious cake. I've made it twice now and it's so yummy!
You make it in the cast iron skillet, bake it in the cast iron skillet and keep it in the cast iron skillet.

I found this recipe over at Tina's blog Cherry Hill Cottage.
She has a picture of what this delectable makes your mouth water chocolate confection looks like
and you'll find the recipe.
If you make it, tell her I sent you over!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

If I Knew You Were Coming I'd Have Baked A Cake

Come in! Well, well, well. Look who's here.
I haven't seen you in many
a year.
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake, baked a cake, baked a cake
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howdya do, howdya do, howdya do?
Had you dropped me a letter, I'd a-hired a band, grandest band in the land
Had you dropped me a letter, I'd a-hired a band
And spread the welcome mat for you
Oh, I don't know where you came from
'cause I don't know where you've been
But it really doesn't matter
Grab a chair and fill your platter
And dig, dig, dig right in
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake, hired a band, goodness sake!
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howdya do, howdya do, howdya do?
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake, baked a cake, baked a cake
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howdya do, howdya do, howdya do?
Had you dropped me a letter, I'd a-hired a band, grandest band in the land
Had you dropped me a letter, I'd a-hired a band
Spread the welcome mat for you
Oh, I don't know where you came from
'cause I don't know where you've been
But it really doesn't matter
Grab a chair and fill your platter
And dig, dig, dig right in
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake, hired a band, goodness sake!
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howdya do, howdya do, howdya do?
Howdya do, howdya do, howdya do?
Howdya do-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-oo

  20. Hi Sheila, Thanks for joining my blog, that's so nice. I love you little kitchen, actually it looks like a great size and it's very pretty. A kitchen always shrinks when everyone comes in and starts to help, toss the salad, cut up the fruit, slice the bread, "where's your tongs", helping, nice, fun people. Hahahahaha

  29. Cute site you have here. My sister (Mary@merrydotdandy.com) joined you recently and told me about you. I'm glad she did!!!! I'm Renae, I have a similar blog to my sister's but yet different. I tend to be more serious or too hilarious beyond her. She is older than me and I am nearly 60! yikes, did I say that? come over to see what I have to offer? At the very least; friendship!

  30. oh oh, Ps. I just read my sister's comment and she complimented you on your cute kitchen. I meant to but I forgot. sorry. I love your counter tops with the rounded edges that don't poke or stab. I've got a small granite top in my bathroom and it is always getting me. You were smart to get the rounded edge. and ... I love the table setting. I love the fork on the side horizontal to the table. smart!!!

  43. Maybe the photos are deceiving, but your kitchen really doesn't look so little. It does look gorgeous, bright and cheerful! I really like your 2 corner vignettes. I have a little white teapot with purple violets that had belonged to my MIL, & it reminds me of the one you have. Very sweet & girly girly!
