Grand Old Flag Mantle

Hello, Dear Ones! I'm a little late with my July 4th decorating! I took a double dose of vitamins and went to town. I really didn't take a double dose ~ I just thought it sounded fun! :)

Here's my Grand Old Flag Mantle ~ pretty gawdy, isn't it? We can do that at holiday times and I love it!

Just poked up as much stuff on my mantle as I could!

First I want to show you these darling little flag lights garland I found at Marshalls a few weeks ago. Aren't they cute? Second snap ~ arsty! I'm so talented, ya know! :)

Flags, flags and more flags! Are you placing your most tiny dainty hand across your most patriotic heart? :) Go ahead, you'll feel so proud!

Well, I know you've seen many times my urns with the topiaries I made many moons ago. They're still here because I love them! Can you love urns with homemade topiaries in them? You bet your hot glue and moss you can! I poked in a couple of flags on each side. Almost looks like my little beloved urn is spreading out it's tiny flag arms! Oh, I have such an imagination! :)

My little star fish is usually always on my mantle too and it's no wonder I love her. Can you love little star fishes on the mantle...just sayin'.

I piled on some red and blue backed books and then poked my little birdcage on top of them, filled it with white roses (faux, of course) and a red candle. I had to poke in another flag too!

See? Birdcages can be very patriotic, ya know.

I found these two little paper fans a while back also. Loved 'em. Well, the little blue one is giving me fits ~ it's not staying in place and just decided it liked to poke itself out! Ugh! I put tape on the back and it still poked itself out! Little stinker. I do believe I'm going to take it down but I wanted you to see it so you would beware of some of these little paper fans. You never know which one will be a stinker! :)

I found lots of nice olden patriotic cards on line and printed them out on cardstock, inked the edges and poked them all around my mantle!

Here is a HUGE tag I made last year. I poked all kinds of things on it and thought I'd pull it out again. It seems to be very happy just hanging out on the fireplace screen.

My fish jugs are getting very antsy since they've not been out in a year, so I told the blue one he could come out and hold some flags! He was so ready to help not to mention ~ he's so cute!

He's also holding down a few more patriotic cards. Can you see those little teddy bears celebrating?

Hope you've enjoyed seeing my Grand Old Flag mantle today.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

You're a Grand Old Flag

You're a grand old flag,

You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

Wigglin' Leaves Baby Dust

Hello, Dear Ones! We've had some visitors, my daughter and little granddaughter, Carter! We've had a ball but there are consequences to having a ball with your daughter and granddaughter!

Let me explain...

Just look at the top of my coffee table in the den...lots of tiny books. I think this will qualify for Tablescape Tuesday with Marty at A Stroll Thru Life, don't you? :)

Look what I did to the brick hearth ~ I covered it with a quilt and then set the fireplace screen on top so if little Carter fell on it, her fall would hopefully be a softer landing. Just look at the mess in front of it! :)

Just look at my sunporch! To keep Carter from trying to step down onto the tile floor and hurt herself, I put all of the furniture in front of the opening. It did help some!

So, little Carter was always wigglin'. Here she sits, for a moment, and flips through her book. Wigglin' tiny dainty creamy fingers.
Now don't adjust your glasses or your puter screen because these next few snaps are blurry...

Playing with her toys ~ wigglin'!

Granddaddy jugglin' Carter! The results? Lots of wigglin' and gigglin'!

Carter in the living room trying to spray her sippy cup all over Gran's coffee table! Wigglin'!

Gran giving a piano lesson. Fingers - wigglin'!

Eating ice cream with mom and lots of wigglin'!

Just so you'll know, baby wigglin' causes baby dust and my house is filled with it! Baby dust!

How did that rubber ducky get on top of my brownies?

All that baby wigglin' that causes baby dust makes a sleepy baby. Just a precious little darling!

My little guests are gone now and my house is a wreck! Baby dust is all over the place. So today I just need to get to cleaning. Do I mind? Shoot no! As I clean I'll think and remember all the little sweet spots my Little Tiny was just a wigglin' and a playin' and Gran was stealing kisses every chance she got!

Baby dust is a wonderful thing!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

I've Truly Missed You!

Hello, Dearest Dear Ones! First I want to thank you all for the prayers and sweet comments upon the death of my Dear Sister-in-law.

There was a beautiful celebration of her life and her memory will live on in our hearts until we join her one day in our Heavenly Home.

I'd like to share some snaps from the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in San Angelo, Texas.

This is the little church Mr. Precious' mother and father were married many years ago.

They have both gone on to Heaven so we know a wonderful reunion was held when, Mary, my Sister-in-law arrived.

My Daddy is also in Heaven. While on this earth he loved little children so much. When he'd walk through the door of his church, all the little children would run up to him because he always had a pocket full of candy to give them.

So I'm sure he met Mary at the Pearly Gates with a handful of candy to welcome her in! :)

Mary had two little babies who were already in heaven. I just know Jesus pulled out His best rocking chair for her and those little ones just climbed up into her lap and she was kissing their little faces off! :)

I've shared with you before that my Mr. Precious is a runner. He runs downtown and calls me to pick him up. Chloe Dawn and I pop into the car and go get him. Most of the time when I arrive, he is talking on his cell phone.

And most of the time he was talking to his sister, Mary. They were really close.

We have just returned home this afternoon and he decided to go for a run ( I know, he's crazy). I went to pick him up and he said, "I won't get to talk to my little sister anymore." He's hurting, but God has made him strong.

I don't want to make you sad, just wanted to share a little more about Mary. I try to always be upbeat and happy on my blog and I will continue to be. I want to share with you our visit with little Carter and our daughter. So after I wash the dirty clothes and clean up my nasty house, I'll show you some snaps of my Little Tiny.

Again, Dear Ones, you all mean the world to me and I've missed all the parties and goings on in Blogland. But most of all I've missed YOU!

Hope you haven't forgotten me. This is the longest I've been away from Blogland except when we were hit by hurricane Ike! So I hope you still remember me! I'm the silly one who always sings you a song at the end of my posts! :)

You are all my bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song -

When I Get Where I'm Going

When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly

I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain

Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here

I'm gonna walk with my grand daddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I missed him
Every minute since he left
Then I'll hug his neck

So much pain and so much darkness
In this world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
So much work to do

But when I get where I'm going
And I see my maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of his amazing grace
Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
Hallelujah
I will love and have no fear
When I get where I'm going
Yeah when I get where I'm going

A Celebration in Heaven

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Oh, Dear Ones, my Dear Sister in law, Mr. Precious' baby sister, went home to be with Jesus this morning. She was a wonderful Christian lady and had walked with the Lord all her life. She loved her church and taught Sunday School to the little toddlers for years as well as worked in VBS forever. She also worked in her church's Mother's Day Out program and taught piano lessons. I do believe she had probably touched everyone's life in her little town. Her husband was her best friend and she had three married children and three grandchildren.

We'll be on our way soon for the funeral. All of you sweet precious prayer warriors, we do covet your prayers for our family. I love you all and will be back later on.

You are all my sweeties,
Shelia :)

I've Got Company

Dear Ones!! I'm going to be busy for the next couple of weeks so I won't be posting. I think you're going to understand why...

I've got a couple of sweet girls with me and the tiny little one is going to take most of my attention!
Don't forget me!!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

I Got You Babe

They say we're young and we don't know
We won't find out until we grow
Well I don't know if all that's true
'Cause you got me, and baby I got you

Babe
I got you babe
I got you babe

They say our love won't pay the rent
Before it's earned, our money's all been spent
I guess that's so, we don't have a pot
But at least I'm sure of all the things we got
Babe
I got you babe
I got you babe

I got flowers in the spring
I got you to wear my ring
And when I'm sad, you're a clown
And if I get scared, you're always around

Don't let them say your hair's too long
'Cause I don't care, with you I can't go wrong
Then put your little hand in mine
There ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb

Babe
I got you babe
I got you babe

I got you to hold my hand
I got you to understand
I got you to walk with me
I got you to talk with me
I got you to kiss goodnight
I got you to hold me tight
I got you, I won't let go
I got you to love me so

I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
