I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Takin' Care of Business
our official Bathroom Diva Song

You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warning
Take the 8:15 into the city
There's a whistle up above
And people pushin', people shovin'
And the girls who try to look pretty
And if your train's on time
You can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day
And I'll be...
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime
Work out
If it were easy as fishin'
You could be a musician
If you could make sounds loud or mellow
Get a second-hand guitar
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of fellows
People see you having fun
Just a-lying in the sun
Tell them that you like it this way
It's the work that we avoid
And we're all self-employed
We love to work at nothing all day
And we be...
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime
Take good care of my business
When I'm away, every day whoo!
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business

Playing in the Kitchen

Hello, Dear Ones! I've been playing in the kitchen and have set up a few little vignettes and thought I would show you.

I just love my deep corners in the kitchen, I have two, and I can just play up a storm in these corners. Here's a little breakfast vignette I've put together.

This is my grandmother's old percolator coffee pot. I barely remember her as she passed away when I was two. I think it's pretty...see the little etchings around it?

I've also poked down my Rose Bouquet creamer, sugar bowl and coffee cup by Johnson Bros.

Next is this darling little vintage rabbit egg cup. This just make me grin every time I see it.

At the back I've poked down a silver tray. It's silverplate, but that's okay with me. It has prettyness all over it.

Now to my other corner. I've been wanting to find one of these little plate racks or plate holders for some time now and I found one! Woo Hoo! I was so excited. And guess what?

It has a Rooster handle! Is this just me or what? Okay, I'll calm down. I poked down those little green plates that most of you have sporting rabbits and carrots and the yellow plates are the ones that I did myself! I mod podge clear plates with fabric on the back. You know how talented I am! :)

Next came the matching tea pot, sugar and creamer. Did you see that Rooster wink? Oh, shoot! You just missed it! :)

One more little area set up with my very olden Rooster spice rack, Rooster kettle S&P from my childhood collection, little Rooster creamer and some darling little Rooster spreaders. Just makes my tiny heart go pitter pat! :)

***********************************

Now you know I can't leave you without inviting you to my linky party I'm having next week on Tuesday the 5th! We'll be showing our favorite cupboards in our kitchen. If you'd like to find out more about it, please go HERE. Please come as I would love to have you join the fun!

Thanks for popping in to see me today and be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~ this song has nothing to do with today's post, just sweet memories as my little son and I used to sing it! :)

Put the Lime in the Coconut

Brother bought a coconut
He bought it for a dime.
His sister had another
She paid it for the lime.

She put the lime in the coconut
she drank them both up.
she put the lime in the coconut
Called the doctor, woke him up, and said
"Doctor, ain't there nothing I can take"
I said, "Doctor, to relieve this belly ache?"
I said, "Doctor ain't there nothing I can take"
I said, "Doctor"

Now let me get this straight;
You put the lime in the coconut
You drank them both up
put the lime in the coconut,
You drink them both up
the lime in the coconut,
you drink them both up
you put the lime in the coconut,
you're such a silly woman,
put a lime in the coconut,
and drink them both together,
put the lime in the coconut,
then you'll feel better.
put the lime in the coconut,
drink them both down,
put the lime in the coconut,
and call me in the morning

Tea Party

Hello, Dear Ones! I wanted to share a little tea I hosted at my home on Saturday! It was for the ladies of our Women's Ministry from my church. I had fun getting everything set up.

I added this pretty little hand painted porcelain tea set my mother gave me many many years ago to the coffee table in the living room. I do cherish this little tea set.

I had fun bringing out many tea sets, even some play tea sets, and poking them all over the den.

Now if you know me, I'm a silly, so...I TEAed in the little guest bathroom! I know, I'm a stinker. You did get my tiny little pun didn't you? :) I brought out some Battenburg laces, ironed and starched them all up and put one on the back of the toilet! :) I then poked down a pretty little Blue Willow tea pot and added some little faux roses. You know how I love my fauxs!

The other Battenburg lace went on my little antique table and I poked down my sweet little rabbit vases holding, what else? More fauxs! I get so excited looking at my fauxs. I love my fauxs and my fauxs love me! :) I used a little basket for some Blue Willow hand towels. I wanted to make my guests smile. I hope I succeeded.

This snap ( I didn't snap this) the flash was not turned off so it looks rather gawdy, was the table in the breakfast room. I poked a Pink Willow tea pot down in the center of the table and used, guess what? More fauxs. I used my little Johnson Brothers Country Roses dishes. I didn't want to use white napkins so I went to my fabric stash and whipped up eight napkins from this red and white toile! I'm so talented like that, you know! :) I tied the napkins with pink ribbons.

Now in the dining room I set the table for eight using my Lenox Butterfly Meadows dishes and yellow napkins tied with pink ribbons.

In front of each place setting, I placed a little white bag filled with goodies, chocolates, and an assortment of tea bags. Then I added a little survey card for the guests to fill out about where they felt our women's ministry should focus.

On this table I placed one of my favorite tea pots withe raised flowers and filled it with Springy fauxs. Oh, I love my fauxs. Have I told you how much I love my fauxs? :)

You can almost smell them, can't you? :)

I made some delicious punch and served it up in a very old punch bowl passed down to me from my dear Aunt Alma. It was so easy: Hawaiian Punch, Sprite, O.J. and mango sherbet! I sliced some oranges to float on top, but the foam from the sherbet just stayed on top.
Of course I served hot tea, although, I think I was the only one who drank the hot tea! Another drink that seemed to be a hit was a large pitcher of water with sliced cucumbers floating in it. It is very nice tasting! Try it sometimes.

Food! We had food too. Tea sandwiches, spinach dip, tiny muffins, cookies and fruit. Oh, my goodness! Mr. Precious was supposed to stay upstairs with Chloe Dawn! I think she wanted a little sammich! :)

The theme for our tea party was Tea Cups and Tales. Each lady was to bring her favorite tea cup and be prepared to tell us why it was special. Well, here I am hamming it up telling my tea cup story! Man, I'm getting old! :)

Well, needless to say, we all had a wonderful time and put our tiny heads together to ask for wisdom as God leads us.

Oh, my goodness! There's Chloe Dawn again. How'd she get in the picture? She thinks she's being sneaky, but I can see her! :)

Now Dear Ones I can't let a post go by without inviting you to come to my Heart of the Home Party - Show Us Your Favorite Cupboard next Tuesday! I do hope you'll come. It will be so much fun. You can go HERE to find out all about it. Hope to see you at my party.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Have A Cuppa Tea

Granny's always ravin' and rantin'
And she's always puffin' and pantin',
And she's always screaming and shouting,
And she's always brewing up tea.

Grandpappy's never late for his dinner,
Cos he loves his leg of beef
And he washes it down with a brandy,
And a fresh made cup of tea.

Have a cuppa tea, have a cuppa tea,
have a cuppa tea, have a cuppa tea,
Halleluja, halleluja, halleluja, Rosie Lea
Halleluja, halleluja, halleluja Rosie Lea.

If you feel a bit under the weather,
If you feel a little bit peeved,
Take granny's stand-by potion
For any old cough or wheeze.
It's a cure for hepatitis it's a cure for chronic insomnia,
It's a cure for tonsilitis and for water on the knee.

Tea in the morning, tea in the evening, tea at supper
time,
You get tea when it's raining, tea when it's snowing.
Tea when the weather's fine,
You get tea as a mid-day stimulant
You get tea with your afternoon tea
For any old ailment or disease
For Heaven's sake have a cuppa tea.

Whatever the situation whatever the race or creed,
Tea knows no segregation, no class nor pedigree
It knows no motivations, no sect or organisation,
It knows no one religion,
Nor political belief.
~ sung by the kinks

Do You Love Parties?

Hello, Dear Ones! Tell me you love to party! I know I do, especially in the Land of Blog. Well, if you haven't heard ~ I'M HAVING A PARTY ~ A Heart of the Home Party - Show Us Your Favorite Cupboard Party! Doesn't that sound like fun?

Here's the cute little button I've made for our party with my own dainty creamy little fingers! I'm so talented like this - and please know me I'm teasing! :) But hey! :)

So many of you joined me last year as we partied and showed our kitchens. It was marvelous and if you missed it you can click HERE and visit the most wonderful kitchens in the Land of Blog.

This time I thought it would be great fun to show a special cupboard in our kitchen. We all have one or two.

Here's a few spots around my kitchen to give you a clue and to get you inspired. Now my kitchen is small but I've got lots of cupboards and poke lots of things inside. Here is a little lazy susan area that's great for deep bowls and small appliances. Love it!

You could even show us your drawers. Um, that doesn't sound right does it? You know what I mean - your kitchen drawers filled with pots and pans or bowls or whatever! You can keep your dainties covered up ~ we don't need to see those! :) My bad!

You could even show a free standing something you use in your kitchen like I have here. My lawyer's bookcase holds my cookbooks and some of my chicks and Roos! You could show us your baker's rack even. Any item that is in your kitchen - even a shelf would work.

This is one of my favorites. This little cupboard holds my tiny little microwave and keeps it out of sight, gives me more counter space but works like a charm! Yes, ma'am! This is another favorite cupboard in my tiny kitchen.

Those two doors you see by my the wall ovens is my tiny little pantry! You could show us your pantry! I love poking in other folks pantries to see how they keep things organized, don't you?

Talk about shelves ~ I love these little window glass shelves above my sink. You could show shelves in your kitchen with stuff poked all over them! I love shelves and have some more that are way up high on the wall in the breakfast room. You can include cupboards or free standing cabinets or shelves in your breakfast room. Breakfast rooms are part of your kitchen too.

Speaking of breakfast rooms ~ I have this wonderful little desk area with drawers and little cabinets above the desk area to poke full of stuff. I've poked so much stuff in those little cabinets that I actually covered the chicken wired doors with some gathered fabric so you couldn't see all of my junk, um, I mean stuff! This is a very favorite spot of mine too.

China cabinets! How could we forget our china cabinets? This one is in my breakfast room so it counts as the kitchen. This is one of my favorite toys in my entire house. I redo this so much and have so much fun with it!

Well, Dear Ones, I just wanted to share with you some of the areas you could include in the party! I do so hope you'll come! So get to spiffying up your favorite cupboards in your kitchen that you'd love to show us and plan on coming to my party! If you'd like you can take my little button below and put it on your blog. I do hope you'll mark your calendars and come! I'll have goodies for you!

So there you have it ~ Tuesday, April 5th right here at Note Songs we'll have another Heart of the Home Party - Show Us Your Favorite Cupboard Party. Can I count you in?

I'm joining Our Dear Cielo at The House in the Roses for Show Off Your Cottage Monday,
Our Dear Carrie at Dittle Dattle for Amaze Me Monday.
Our Dear Robin at All Things Heart and Home for All Things Inspired Wednesday.

Be a bunch of Sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Shake, Rattle and Roll

Get out from that kitchen
and rattle those pots and pans,
Get out from that kitchen
and rattle those pots and pans.
Well, roll my breakfast,
'cause I'm a hungry man.

I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll;
Well you never do nothin'
to save your doggone soul.

Wearin' those dresses,
your hair done up so right
Wearin' those dresses,
your hair done up so right;
You look so warm,
but your heart is cold as ice.

I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
Well you never do nothin'
to save your doggone soul.

I'm like a one-eyed cat,
peepin' in a sea-food store,
I'm like a one-eyed cat,
peepin' in a sea-food store;
I can look at you,
till you don't love me no more.

I believe you're doin' me wrong
and now I know,
I believe you're doin' me wrong
and now I know;
The more I work,
the faster my money goes.

I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,

Well you never do nothin'
to save your doggone soul.
Shake rattle and rolllllllllllllllllllll

Changes in the Living Room

Hello, Dear Ones! You know how it is when spring comes and you start to deep clean and get an itching to change things? Well, I've had that itch and the living room got scratched! :)

Do you like it? I've totally changed the furniture around and I'm just loving it!

This was how it has been for a few years. We bought the sofa about three years ago - I fell totally in love with this sofa. It didn't go with anything we had but I had to have her! Then it took me another couple of years to find chairs to go with it. So this room has been evolving slowly.

I like this arrangement so much more. When you walk in the front door the living room is on the left and this is what you see. I think my totally loved sofa shows up so much better here. Oh, I love my huge round coffee table too. I just love my things! Well, I have a few things I don't love so much! You know how it is. :) I added a couple of little plates and a couple of little prints to go on either side of my large picture and I like this look better too! The large picture has little flowers painted and each title is written in German. I just love this too! :) I'm in love with my living room today, Dear Ones! :)

Here is what is on the coffee table for now. I love my shells in my big ole glass thingy and it was time to dust off the shells and put the glass cleaner to my big ole glass thingy. Poked down a few books and plopped down a little greenery. I'm happy with this for now.

The sun was just a pouring through the windows so this snap looks a little haloed! :)

I put the winged back chairs in each window. I like them here.

Here are the little side tables for the sofa and their toppings. Chocolate? Pineapple? Strawberry?
Hmm...I'm craving a banana split right now! :)

I scooted my baby grand across to the other side of the room. I'm so strong you know! ;) This room is rather small and with my piano it's a little hard to get the furniture placed just right. The little chair on the left with the pretty legs is just a filler until I can recover a sweet little chair my mother gave me. I can't decide on fabric. Shoot!

My gift - my piano! I've had her since 1986! She's getting pretty olden but she's still as pretty as a picture! I just love her and you can see all my little hymnals lined up on her. Most of you know I'm pianist at my church so I always have music out to play and practice.

This is the view when sitting on the sofa looking into the entry and you can see the front doors.

This is the view from the haloed winged back chair. If you walk on through the entry you'd be in the den. Hope you've enjoyed seeing the changes I've made to my living room.

Well, now, here's Miss Chloe Dawn. Hi darling! Would you like to say hello to all of our friends?
Chloe Dawn? Chloe? Oh, my! She is so embarrassed because she needs to go to the beauty shop and she just won't look at the camera. Never fear, darling Chloe, you're going tomorrow! We'll be back with another snap of Chloe Dawn when she's smiling! :)

Oh, I'm hoping you'll all come to my Heart of the Home Party - Show Us Your Favorite Cupboard! It will be so fun peeping into each others cupboards! You can go HERE to find out about it. So I do hope you'll plan on coming!

Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

I Fell the Earth Move

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around

Oh, baby, when I see your face
Mellow as the month of May
Oh, darling, I can't stand it
When you look at me that way

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around

Oh, darling, when you're near me
And you tenderly call my name
I know that my emotions
Are something that I just can't tame
I've just got to have you, baby

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down

I just lose control
Down to my very soul
I get hot and cold all over

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
~ sung by Carole King
