Give 'Em The Slip!

Hello, Dear Ones! Yep, I'm giving my pillows the slip! I do make most of my pillows around Note Songs cottage and got to looking at the ones on the den sofa and thought ~ time for a change!

I usually put piping or ruffles on my pillows and then just enclose the entire pillow form. But not this time, no, no, Nannette! This time I was going to give my pillows the slip! Slip covered pillows that is and I was going to revamp some of my old pillows.

This was my before snap with my olden pillows. The two pillows in each corner came with the sofa and I'll be revamping these puppies. I made the green one with the braid piping on the left, bought the two silly little red ones, and made the two toned green/floral on the right. I'll also be snatching a couple of pillows from the sofa in the living room and revamping them too! I'm excited! Woo Hooness!

I snatched a couple of these beige pillows from the sofa in the living room. I poked this pillow on the leather sofa in Mr. Precious' office to show you because I was upstairs and just too lazy, um, too busy to go back down the stairs and show you the sofa in the living room. :O

Here's the before and then the after. I've given this pillow the slip! Do you like it? I was lazy and didn't use any trim or piping, just sewed these puppies up! This is left over fabric from the curtains I made for my breakfast room many moons ago. I had enough to make a couple of slips! I just love this fabric. :) Smile sweetie!

Now I'm in the Grandma bedroom where I sew (see all of the loose strings on the bed?). I'm sure popping around alot, aren't I? Now I'm really a silly! See that pillow on the left? Well, that is one of a couple that came with the den sofa. I decided to give these the slip too. There's two of these pillows. You're wondering ~ did she really use this pillow with the little fringe around the edges? Yes, she did. I poked that fringed up pillow right into the slip cover I made! I'm so talented like that! :) You can't tell there's fringe in that goldeny slip can you? Man, I'm good! :) You know I'm teasing! :)

Ta Dah!! Here's all of my handiwork spread out on the sofa in the den. The fabric for the sofa is a soft grayish green chenille. Mr. Precious and I each have our own recliner in here that is covered in a golden color covered with paisley red thingys on it and these pillows pull those chairs in. We also have a burgundy colored swivel rocker in here too. So I thought the colors of the dark red fabric would pull everything together.

Oh, here's one more little pillow I made and used a couple of different fabrics plus a little trim. Now I used a pillow form for this one but Dear Ones I did give it the slip! Love this stuff.

Why do colors not really show the way they're supposed to in a snap? Well, the gold is really more subtle and blends well with the sofa fabric even though it doesn't look like it here. Shoot!

This time I actually took the time and made little pillow shams so I could change the fabrics when I get tired of this look. Pull the pillow out and poke the pillow into another little sham! Woo Hooness! As you can tell, it doesn't take very much to get me excited! :)

Well, here's my tiny little sofa all fluffed up with new pillows. Yep, I've given them the slip! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

If My Pillow Could Talk

If my pillow could talk
If my pillow could talk

If my pillow could talk
It would tell you 'bout
My sleepless nights
(My sleepless nights)

Tell you 'bout the rivers I cried
Ever since you said goodbye
(Since you said goodbye)

If we just could have talked it over
Before you ever put me down
(Oh, you put me down)
You know I love you much too much
To think about you running around

If my pillow could talk to you
(Yeah, yeah)
Know how much I miss your kiss
(Yeah, yeah)

It would tell you how much
I toss and I turn
Waiting for you, darling, to return

Yes, my pillow could tell you too
Not one word they said was true
If my pillow could talk to you
(Could talk to you)

If my pillow could talk to you
(Yeah, yeah)
Know how much I miss your kiss
(Yeah, yeah)

It would tell you how much
I toss and I turn
Waiting for you, darling, to return

Yes, my pillow could tell you too
Not one word they said was true
If my pillow could talk to you
(Could talk to you)

If my pillow could talk to you
(Could talk to you)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

If my pillow could talk to you
(Could talk to you)
If my pillow could talk to you...

Teething Biscuits

We have one tiny little grand daughter named Carter and I haven't shown her to you in some time. She lives very far away and we only get to visit through Skype and snaps my daughter sends me. So I had to share this with you.

She's been cutting her first little teeth and has five now! She's eating a little bit of soft people food. I kept telling my daughter that when she and her brother were teething I gave them these little teething biscuits. They loved them. Dear Daughter listened to me and bought some for little Carter. Here she is tasting her first teething biscuit.

Look at this face! She scrunches her little face up like this any time she tastes something different. Yuck! I don't think she likes her teething biscuit, do you? :) I love this little face!

Carter says, "Hey! This is pretty good, mommy! I think I like these!"

Carter is so sweet and caring and she wants to share her teething biscuit with you all! Look at her little teeth!! Open wide now! You don't mind that she nibbled on the end a bit do you?

and

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Baby, Baby

Baby, baby, I'm taken with the notion
To love you with the sweetest of devotion
Baby, baby, my tender love will flow from
The bluest sky to the deepest ocean
Stop for a minute
Baby, I'm so glad you're mine, yeah
You're mine

Baby, baby, the stars are shinin' for you
And just like me, I'm sure that they adore you
Baby, baby, go walkin' through the forest
The birds above a-singin' you a chorus
Stop for a minute
Baby, they're so glad you're mine, oh yeah

And ever since the day
You put my heart in motion
Baby, I realize that there's
Just no getting over you

Baby, baby, in any kind of weather
I'm here for you always and forever
Baby, baby, no muscle man could sever
My love for you is true and it will never
Stop for a minute
Baby, I'm so glad you're mine

And ever since the day
You put my heart in motion
Baby, I realize
There's no getting over you

And ever since the day
You put my heart in motion
Baby, I realize that there's
Just no getting over you
Over you

Baby, baby, always and forever
Baby, I'm so glad
Here for you, baby
I'm so glad you're mine
Baby, I'm so glad

When I think about you, it makes me smile
Baby, baby, be mine
Baby, I'm so glad
Don't stop giving love
Don't stop, no
Baby, I'm so glad that you're mine
Baby, I'm so glad

White Chicks

Hello, Dear Ones. That's right...white chicks.

White chicks in the kitchen...

well, and one chick that is so transparent, you can see right through her. We've all met chicks like this, haven't we? :)

Just another vignette in the kitchen. Chicks. Well, chick bowls with lids. What were this made for anyway? They're cute but probably not very useful.

Here's my favorite little olden spice rack covered with Roosters.

White mini tureen sitting atop a Gooseberry Patch cookbook! These cookbooks are so cute and colorful and make their way onto my kitchen countertops quite often. I do manage to use a recipe or two from these cookbooks too.

Just the spot for white chicks and one very transparent one! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Hello, I Love You

Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game

She's walking down the street
Blind to every eye she meets
Do you think you'll be the guy
To make the queen of the angels sigh?

Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game

She holds her head so high
Like a statue in the sky
Her arms are wicked, and her legs are long
When she moves my brain screams out this song

Sidewalk crouches at her feet
Like a dog that begs for something sweet
Do you hope to make her see, you fool?
Do you hope to pluck this dusky jewel?

Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello
I want you
Hello
I need my baby
Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello

Battered, Burned and Bruised!

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I've admitted it before and I'll do it again ~ I am a copy cat! You poke something at my eyes ~ a thing of beauty ~ I want it ~ and I will try to copy it. That's what I've done but I'm battered, bruised and burned and I've lived to tell you about it!

Are you familiar with this most wonderful blog of inspiration...Under the Table and Dreaming?
This young lady, Stephanie is just amazing! She created the most beautiful wreath made of roses from the pages of a book! It was beautiful! My most gorgeous peepers eyed it! I wanted it and she had given instructions too! I was gonna copy her most gorgeous wreath! I was going to have me a gorgeous wreath made from the pages of a book! Yes, sirree!!

Just look! Is this not the prettiest thing you've ever seen. Well, maybe except for your new born babes! :) I coveted this wreath. I dreamed about this wreath! I was going to make this wreath! But she didn't warn me of the danger I was about to put myself in! No, no, Nannette, she did not!

So I began by reading her instructions here and gathered my tiny supplies. I found a white styrofoam wreath to use completely unaware of the peril ahead of me!

Got a big ole thick over 500 pages book and began by pulling it apart! Oh, I was in heaven having a wonderful time ripping out the pages. Then I began to draw my swirls. I was gonna have me a most gorgeous rose wreath made from the pages of a book.

Well, I cut out all of my 750 million swirls until my most dainty tiny fingers felt paralyzed. But I persevered. I'm just stubborn that way. I must tell you, that little Stephanie is a little stinker teasing me like she did. In my tiny head I thought ~ I'll make this wreath in an afternoon and will have it hanging on the wall by nightfall. No, no, Nannette! This did not happen. For days and days I twirled and glued.
That's not all...I was twirling away and hot glued the bottom circle of paper to the bottom of a rose and then it sprung out like a Jack in a Box! Oh, Lord have mercy! So I had to start gluing continuously as I twirled! Now comes the burning and blistering. Hot glue! Oh, I burned and blistered my most dainty fingers and even commenced to burn my upper lip! Don't ask how I did that! Oh, I was almost bleeding! Proceed with caution...

Did I give up? No, no, Nannette! Not on your life. I was going to have me a gorgeous rose wreath made from the pages of a book even if my most tiny dainty fingers fell off! Finally, I think God felt sorry for me and reminded me that I had a low temp glue gun! Eureka! That's it! I carefully began to twist and turn my paper roses, with damaged fingers, and glued while twirling with my low temp glue gun! Whew! Much better! Well, this went on for days, I'm telling you! DAYS! Oh, after all of the little roses where made, I inked the edges just like Stephanie said she did. This was pain free! Thank you, Jesus!

And finally...

I have a most gorgeous paper rose wreath made from the pages of a book!!
Now, Dear Ones, this is a small wreath and I believe Stephanie made a big one. I can't imagine how long it must have taken her. She's wonderful and all but I'm sure she rolled, twisted and twirled for many days. I wonder if she burned her dainty fingers? She's just not going to tell us. :)

I hung this puppy over my mirror over the fireplace in the den. There's only one problem. Do you see it in the above snap? Well, since my most gorgeous paper rose wreath is hanging in front of a mirror ~ you can see the back of the styrofoam wreath and it's nekked! That's Texan for 'naked'. Well, I'm going to have to rip out some more pages and glue them down on the backside so you won't see the white. Lord, have mercy!

But if you look at it front on...it's wonderful! Do you like it? I'm still battered, burned and bruised but I'm healing! I do want to thank Stephanie for her inspiration and the how tos to make this wreath. Go over and visit her and I know you'll come back to your blog with your tiny head spinning with inspiration. But beware and make sure you're prepared - I don't want you to become battered, burned or bruised! :)

As you see below, I'm really milking my most gorgeous wreath for all it's worth! :)

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Well you're a real tough cookie with a long history
Of breaking little hearts, like the one in me
That's O.K., lets see how you do it
Put up your dukes, let's get down to it!
Hit Me With Your Best Shot!
Why Don't You Hit Me With Your Best Shot!
Hit Me With Your Best Shot!
Fire Away!

You come on with your come-ons, you don't fight fair
That's O.K., see if I care!
Knock me down, it's all in vain
I'll get right back on my feet again!

Hit Me With Your Best Shot!
Why Don't You Hit Me With Your Best Shot!
Hit Me With Your Best Shot!
Fire Away!

Well you're a real tough cookie with a long history
Of breaking little hearts, like the one in me
Before I put another notch in my lipstick case
You better make sure you put me in my place

Hit Me With Your Best Shot!
Come On, Hit Me With Your Best Shot!
Hit Me With Your Best Shot!
Fire Away!

Hit Me With Your Best Shot!

Hash Browns Casserole

Hello, Dear Ones! It's been so long since I've joined Foodie Friday hosted by Our Dear Michael Lee. Pop over to her blog Designs by Gollum and you'll find the most wonderful recipes in Blogland.

Now, we all love Cracker Barrel don't we? I know I do. I usually always order as my sides the fried apples and this little number...

the Hash Browns Casserole. Yummy

Looks good, huh?

Yummmm....

I found a recipe that is so close to the one served at Cracker Barrel. I hope you'll make it and if you try it let me know if you liked it.

Cracker Barrel's Hash Browns Casserole

2 lb. Frozen Hash Browns
1/2 cup Oleo or Butter, melted
1 (10 1/4 oz) Can Cream Chicken Soup
1 Pint Sour Cream
1/2 cup Onion, Peeled and Chopped (I used green onions)
2 cups Cheddar cheese, grated
1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper

Preheat oven to 350' and spray an 11 x 14" baking dish with nonstick spray.
Mix the above ingredients together and place in prepared pan and bake 45 minutes or until browned on top.

Enjoy!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

The Potato Song

I have a friend,
she's a potato
but then you ate her mother
so she went undercover,
and now I can't find my friend,
the potato,
I looked up,
I looked down,
I went to Idaho,
And looked all around,
But all I saw were these low fat potatoes,
So I left,
and I still can't find my friend the potato

I'm Cornered Again!

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I'm still playing in the kitchen and decorated another little corner that I thought I would show you.

Roosters! Are you surprised? If you visit me often, no no Nannette, you're not surprised at all. :)

My corner is featuring this big silly boy. Isn't he cute? I found him last year at Hobby Lobby on sale! I just love sales! Can you love sales at Hobby Lobby? You bet your extra little pocket change you can! :)

On a later visit to HL I found these little matching salt and peppers! Perfect!

Then I've used this metal basket and poked in some greens! Greens are perfect for a kitchen, don't you think? That's it. Just a silly little simple kitchen corner! Oh, and filled with Roosters!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Stuck in the Middle With You

Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.

Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you,
And I'm wondering what it is I should do,
It's so hard to keep this smile from my face,
Losing control, yeah, I'm all over the place,
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Well you started out with nothing,
And you're proud that you're a self made man,
And your friends, they all come crawlin,
Slap you on the back and say,
Please.... Please.....

Trying to make some sense of it all,
But I can see that it makes no sense at all,
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor,
'Cause I don't think that I can take anymore
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Well you started out with nothing,
And you're proud that you're a self made man,
And your friends, they all come crawlin,
Slap you on the back and say,
Please.... Please.....

Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you,
Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you,
Stuck in the middle with you.

January Whites

Hello, Dear Ones! Many of you are getting snow and I wanted to have a little of the white stuff too. So I put lots of white in my little hutch in the breakfast room! Hope you don't get tired of seeing this little hutch. I just love it to pieces!

White stuff...

Does it look wintry and cold?

Well, I did poke in a little bit of evergreen leaves. It's always nice to see a little touch of green among all the snow.

See the blanket of white stuff on the lower shelf? Yep, there it is.

I found this big ole white pitcher last year and I just love the soup out of it! Can you love the soup out of big ole white pitchers? You bet your hot steaming bowls you can! :)

I have two of these little bird candle holders and I use little tiny candles in it. Does that little birdie look cold to you? I think I just saw him shiver! :)

I also have a larger candle holder I'm using too. This little birdie is a cousin to the two smaller ones. Birds of a feather you know! :)

I've poked down some of my white dishes - J & G Meakin. These are very olden.

Oh, my little white Target birdies were just dying to get out from behind closed doors and make an appearance! Poor little things! :)

I've poked a few more white pieces down. It's getting chilly in here so I had better grab my sweater. :)

Way up high I've placed my white tureens ~ just like a covering of snow, don't you think?

Thanks for popping in to see me today and I just love your visits and comments!

I'm joining our Dear Cielo at The House in the Roses for Show Off Your Cottage Monday,
Our Dear Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday
and
Our Dear Kim at Savvy Southern Style for BTB Party.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

It's Now Winter's Day

Everyone is warm inside their houses in the snow

The mercury is dropping down to minus ten below

Outside it's chilling, but inside it's thrilling

with fireplaces burning and records that keep turning

Gone is the green grass,

the trees have turned brown

The sky has gone grey,

it's now Winter's day

The parks they are empty

no sweets on the swings

no kids are at play,

it's now Winter's day
~ sung by Tommy Roe
