Grand Old Flag Mantle

Hello, Dear Ones! I'm a little late with my July 4th decorating! I took a double dose of vitamins and went to town. I really didn't take a double dose ~ I just thought it sounded fun! :)

Here's my Grand Old Flag Mantle ~ pretty gawdy, isn't it? We can do that at holiday times and I love it!

Just poked up as much stuff on my mantle as I could!

First I want to show you these darling little flag lights garland I found at Marshalls a few weeks ago. Aren't they cute? Second snap ~ arsty! I'm so talented, ya know! :)

Flags, flags and more flags! Are you placing your most tiny dainty hand across your most patriotic heart? :) Go ahead, you'll feel so proud!

Well, I know you've seen many times my urns with the topiaries I made many moons ago. They're still here because I love them! Can you love urns with homemade topiaries in them? You bet your hot glue and moss you can! I poked in a couple of flags on each side. Almost looks like my little beloved urn is spreading out it's tiny flag arms! Oh, I have such an imagination! :)

My little star fish is usually always on my mantle too and it's no wonder I love her. Can you love little star fishes on the mantle...just sayin'.

I piled on some red and blue backed books and then poked my little birdcage on top of them, filled it with white roses (faux, of course) and a red candle. I had to poke in another flag too!

See? Birdcages can be very patriotic, ya know.

I found these two little paper fans a while back also. Loved 'em. Well, the little blue one is giving me fits ~ it's not staying in place and just decided it liked to poke itself out! Ugh! I put tape on the back and it still poked itself out! Little stinker. I do believe I'm going to take it down but I wanted you to see it so you would beware of some of these little paper fans. You never know which one will be a stinker! :)

I found lots of nice olden patriotic cards on line and printed them out on cardstock, inked the edges and poked them all around my mantle!

Here is a HUGE tag I made last year. I poked all kinds of things on it and thought I'd pull it out again. It seems to be very happy just hanging out on the fireplace screen.

My fish jugs are getting very antsy since they've not been out in a year, so I told the blue one he could come out and hold some flags! He was so ready to help not to mention ~ he's so cute!

He's also holding down a few more patriotic cards. Can you see those little teddy bears celebrating?

Hope you've enjoyed seeing my Grand Old Flag mantle today.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

You're a Grand Old Flag

You're a grand old flag,

You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

~ sung by my mantle

  35. Hi again,
Your mantle is looks just darling! And so very, very patriotic. I love the patriotism that Americans show, Canadians are not nearly as patriotic as you folks, even though we know we have every reason to be so.
I'm afraid though, that a maple leaf is not nearly as romantic looking as the stars and stripes are. Oh well, you certainly know how to do it up! I adore the olden cards that you created, you are so creative dear lady!!!
    Love and hugs, Cindy
