Bedroom Bliss

Hello, Dear Ones! This is a post I had ready earlier and my snaps weren't taken with Reba, just so you'll know.

Now did I get you with my post title? :) If you know me, I'm just a silly! About a year ago, Mr. Precious and I decided to paint! We painted his office and it's closet, we painted the hall, we painted our bedroom and it's closets! We even painted all the ceilings! Man, we're good! Now we have those nasty popcorn ceilings and I found a wonderful roller at Lowes just for this type of ceiling finish and it made painting all those little ceiling balls so easy. Whew!

I've been very slow in trying to get our Master bedroom together. So I thought I would show it to you today.

The walls are a creamy heritage color from Valspar and of course I've lost the name of it. It has more color than it shows in my snaps.

I didn't get new bedding just used this olden spread, which I love. I did buy and make some new pillows. That's Mr. Precious' side on the right. We love that olden looking phone we got a zillion years ago at Pottery Barn.

This is my side of the bed. I'm very short and our bed is rather high ~ so I have my own little individual step stool! I've slid off of it a few times when I would get up during the night! I seem to forget that little socks and that little stool do not mix! :) Reminds me of a song - Slip Slidin' Away! :)

Love my doggies! They seem to roam all over my house! The snap looks rather orangey under the lamp. Speaking of lamps ~ I love these, they're olden, and I need to recover the shades. That's a little project for another day.

I've shown you my bed pillows before. I've taken out that long skinny blue one and added another little rusty colored one with beaded trim.

This is my side of the bed looking toward the bathroom. As you can see, two louvered door closets and the little louvered doors going into the bathroom doesn't leave me much space for poking anything on the wall.

Our bedroom furniture is around thirty years old. I just love all the pretty detail in the headboard...

and the details on the footboard. But dusting it ~ I hate it!! If I let my dusting go too long, I will actually have to use a Q tip in all the little spots. Just sayin'...keeping it real. :)

This is the little art work on my side of the bed. She's so sweet with her little boy.

And here is the artwork on Mr. Precious' side. A manly man with his shotgun ready to defend his family! Or maybe he's going hunting! :) He's not sayin'!

This is a lovely piece by the Victorian artist, Harrison Fisher. He painted many beautiful ladies of that era. It belonged to my grandmother, she gave it to my mother and my mother gave it to me. Mother had the blue mat put around it (during my blue stage) because it had a little bit of damage on the bottom. I've always meant to take it off, but I'm SKEERT! You know me ~ Texan for scared. This is the original frame and it's over 100 years old! Under Mr. Fisher's signature is the date - 1910. Don't breathe too hard...let's ooze back a bit. :)

Here's the wall that looks down into the front yard (our bedroom is upstairs). I found the unlined drapes last year at JC Penny and just loved them. I even bought an extra pair so I could make some pillows. I only made two. But I love how the sunlight pours through the drapes. I used to think all drapes should be lined but in my olden days ~ I'm so easy and breezy. Hey ~ easy breezy cover girl! ;) Lord, have mercy! I didn't even vacuum!

I have two of these winged back chairs. I love them! Can you love your olden winged back chairs? Why you bet your tufted buttons you can! :) These have been recovered a couple of times and used to live in the living room. When they no longer matched anything ~ they tiptoed ever so gently up the stairs. I love them in here. They are olden too ~ Mr. Precious got these for me in the 1970s! More olden than most of you! :)

Here you can see the windows again with the armoire with mirrored doors in between the windows.

Here's the other chair and I have a little story to tell you about this one. You know how I love to tell you little stories! :) For a while I had these chairs in the dining room that has a wall with two windows just like this. So, one chair in each corner at each window, just like this. Chloe Dawn, my little mini Schnauzer, took up residence in this chair. She napped in it and guarded the house in it. She is always looking outside and protecting her family! When we brought these chairs up here, she would go missing. I would call and call her and she wouldn't come. Then I saw her little black head peep through the stair rails upstairs. So yesterday when I popped into the bedroom for something, there she was just a sleepin' up a storm in this chair. It just dawned on me, she was coming up here and taking her little tiny doggy naps in 'her chair'! Little stinker. :)

Here's the dresser that's located on the wall across from the foot of the bed.

Oh, my goodness! Look at that carpet again! I'm so ashamed. No vacuuming! No no Nannette, I did not! Well, to tell you the truth I never ever vacuum ~ Mr. Precious does! Oh, my tiny aching back! ;) Just keepin' it real!

More realness. I didn't tuck the bed pillows back very well under the shams. So now you know what color my sheets are! :) I'm still working on this room, I think. It still seems a bit nekked to me. Thanks for popping in to see me today.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~speaking of bedrooms, we must have a little Barry White ;)

You're My First, The Last, My Everything

The first, the last, my everything
And the answer to all my dreams
You're my sun, my moon, my guiding star
My kind of wonderful, that's what you are
I know there's only, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two
You're all I'm living for
Your love I'll keep for evermore
You're the first, your the last, my everything

And with you I've found so many things
A love so new only you could bring
Can't you see it's you
You make me feel this way
You're like a fresh morning dew on a brand new day
~ sung by Barry White
