Changes in the Living Room

Hello, Dear Ones! You know how it is when spring comes and you start to deep clean and get an itching to change things? Well, I've had that itch and the living room got scratched! :)

Do you like it? I've totally changed the furniture around and I'm just loving it!

This was how it has been for a few years. We bought the sofa about three years ago - I fell totally in love with this sofa. It didn't go with anything we had but I had to have her! Then it took me another couple of years to find chairs to go with it. So this room has been evolving slowly.

I like this arrangement so much more. When you walk in the front door the living room is on the left and this is what you see. I think my totally loved sofa shows up so much better here. Oh, I love my huge round coffee table too. I just love my things! Well, I have a few things I don't love so much! You know how it is. :) I added a couple of little plates and a couple of little prints to go on either side of my large picture and I like this look better too! The large picture has little flowers painted and each title is written in German. I just love this too! :) I'm in love with my living room today, Dear Ones! :)

Here is what is on the coffee table for now. I love my shells in my big ole glass thingy and it was time to dust off the shells and put the glass cleaner to my big ole glass thingy. Poked down a few books and plopped down a little greenery. I'm happy with this for now.

The sun was just a pouring through the windows so this snap looks a little haloed! :)

I put the winged back chairs in each window. I like them here.

Here are the little side tables for the sofa and their toppings. Chocolate? Pineapple? Strawberry?
Hmm...I'm craving a banana split right now! :)

I scooted my baby grand across to the other side of the room. I'm so strong you know! ;) This room is rather small and with my piano it's a little hard to get the furniture placed just right. The little chair on the left with the pretty legs is just a filler until I can recover a sweet little chair my mother gave me. I can't decide on fabric. Shoot!

My gift - my piano! I've had her since 1986! She's getting pretty olden but she's still as pretty as a picture! I just love her and you can see all my little hymnals lined up on her. Most of you know I'm pianist at my church so I always have music out to play and practice.

This is the view when sitting on the sofa looking into the entry and you can see the front doors.

This is the view from the haloed winged back chair. If you walk on through the entry you'd be in the den. Hope you've enjoyed seeing the changes I've made to my living room.

Well, now, here's Miss Chloe Dawn. Hi darling! Would you like to say hello to all of our friends?
Chloe Dawn? Chloe? Oh, my! She is so embarrassed because she needs to go to the beauty shop and she just won't look at the camera. Never fear, darling Chloe, you're going tomorrow! We'll be back with another snap of Chloe Dawn when she's smiling! :)

Oh, I'm hoping you'll all come to my Heart of the Home Party - Show Us Your Favorite Cupboard! It will be so fun peeping into each others cupboards! You can go HERE to find out about it. So I do hope you'll plan on coming!

Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

I Fell the Earth Move

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around

Oh, baby, when I see your face
Mellow as the month of May
Oh, darling, I can't stand it
When you look at me that way

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around

Oh, darling, when you're near me
And you tenderly call my name
I know that my emotions
Are something that I just can't tame
I've just got to have you, baby

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down

I just lose control
Down to my very soul
I get hot and cold all over

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
~ sung by Carole King

  3. Shelia,
I learned something new about you today...you play piano and play church hymns...I love hymns from church. I am Lutheran and while I know many hymns are similar I hold them deep in my memory and cherish the songs.
Also, I like to move the furniture; it gives the 'old' a sense of 'new' and what a nice thing in spring!
I'll be singin' I feel the earth move under my feet...all night! love Carole King and the Tapestry album :)

It is so fun to rearrange a room, isn't it?? Our cats find it fascinating and always show up for it!

  9. Very pretty, Shelia! I love to switch around my furniture once in awhile, too. Especially with the seasons! I love your sofa, the pattern and colors are beautiful. Everything mixes so well.

  10. I love how you decorated your coffee table. My mom would envy your piano and your ability to play. She wanted me to play, but I did not enjoy it. Mom only knows how to play by ear, and a little to play the hymnals too, but one thing she regrets is that she sold her piano when we moved. Nobody was using it and it was ugly, so a young woman who wanted to take lessons herself bought it. At least hopefully it is more used and loved now. Hope you have a great week!

  11. Shelia, I also love your new arrangement. Isn't it great when an idea comes along and it just works? I love your piano and didn't know you play for your church. My hubby also plays for our church but he plays the electric keyboards, sometimes 2 at a time! Have a great week! Happy Spring!! Pamela

Sassy is scheduled for a shower with ME tomorrow...lol. We take one together twice a week. She doesn't like it but she will slowly get in. When she is done she runs like mad through the house! Your little Chloe Dawn is so precious and she will feel better after tomorrow.

I would love to join your party! I will have to clean out to participate though...hehe. I'm not the most organized behind closed doors!

Such a beautiful and peaceful room. I can't thank you enough for sharing. Your vignettes are just breathtaking. What peace that shell arrangement gave me in your clear glass jar. I felt as if I could smell the ocean and feel the mist on my face.

Love the view of your hallway and the stairs. It is gorgeous. Your floors are so shiny.

  52. Hi Sheila,
I love Carole King! She is such a talented lady. Love your new look! Your sofa is wonderful and I love the colour of it! The chairs look fabulous with it too. I love your coffee table most of all! Sort of reminds me of my own until I painted it! Yup, I know, you're probably horrified that I painted my walnut table! But after three little ones and company that wouldn't keep their feet off it, it was looking rather beat up. So, I took a deep breath and sanded it down, primed it, and after six coats, yes six, coats of white paint, she's looking fabulous! Oh, I distressed it too, BTW. I love it and so does everyone else. Except for my kids! They think everything should remain the same as it was when they were growing up!! ;) I hope to join you for your Favourite Cupboard party. We'll see how it goes! Hope you're enjoying this first week of Spring.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  72. Oh my Sheila, I sure do know what you mean....I have had the urge to move and shove and take down and put back up a lot lately. My old dresser in the family room has three large paintings stacked on top of it waiting to go on the wall and I am making other changes too. Change is good. My Daddy used to say "every old board needs a new coat of paint every now and then". Actually, I am not sure he didn't mean "broad" too. LOL...your living room is so warm and inviting. Wish I could sit there and listen to you play the piano. :) Happy Thursday.

  73. Hello Shelia, it's me Sheila from "Beyond the Portico" Thanks for becoming my newest follower and hopefully a friend. OMGosh I love your house. It's AMAZING and soooooo HUGE! Can you sense a tad bit of jealousy here, JK. Was looking through some older posts and ran across your master bathroom redo from back in October. Great job! I noticed you kept the "avacado" tub. Did you know you can paint it? Yes I did say PAINT. There is a special porcelain paint made just for painting porcelain tubs, sinks and the like. Ask your contractor about it or ask the specialists at Lowe's or a similar home improvement store. It would be tons cheaper than a replacement tub and a lot less MESS and the best part no more AVACADO. Anywaysssss, just a thought. Have a fabulous day relaxing in your newly arranged living room.
