Hash Browns Casserole

Hello, Dear Ones! It's been so long since I've joined Foodie Friday hosted by Our Dear Michael Lee. Pop over to her blog Designs by Gollum and you'll find the most wonderful recipes in Blogland.

Now, we all love Cracker Barrel don't we? I know I do. I usually always order as my sides the fried apples and this little number...

the Hash Browns Casserole. Yummy

Looks good, huh?

Yummmm....

I found a recipe that is so close to the one served at Cracker Barrel. I hope you'll make it and if you try it let me know if you liked it.

Cracker Barrel's Hash Browns Casserole

2 lb. Frozen Hash Browns
1/2 cup Oleo or Butter, melted
1 (10 1/4 oz) Can Cream Chicken Soup
1 Pint Sour Cream
1/2 cup Onion, Peeled and Chopped (I used green onions)
2 cups Cheddar cheese, grated
1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper

Preheat oven to 350' and spray an 11 x 14" baking dish with nonstick spray.
Mix the above ingredients together and place in prepared pan and bake 45 minutes or until browned on top.

Enjoy!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

The Potato Song

I have a friend,
she's a potato
but then you ate her mother
so she went undercover,
and now I can't find my friend,
the potato,
I looked up,
I looked down,
I went to Idaho,
And looked all around,
But all I saw were these low fat potatoes,
So I left,
and I still can't find my friend the potato

  15. Oh, Shelia, that song makes me chuckle :o) Yummy-looking casserole. I'm having to be careful of what I'm eating as I'm carrying a bit too much padding, lol. You are naughty for showing something so scrumptous, drool, drool, lol.

  23. Girl, I had to try this but I did not have any hash browns. So I cut up some potatoes, did not want to take time and grate them. But I had all the other ingredients, have it baking right now.

The only time I ever ate at a CB was many years back, a group after Sunday morning church decided to eat there but we had to find where one was on the map. That was before GPS.... Maps....remember those?? Folded paper that one could never get re-folded back to its original form. Well what we thought was an hour drive took 2-1/2. By the time we got there we were so ravenous as most of us had not even eaten breakfast. We ate so fast I did not remember what we ate. I think I even ate my napkin that is how hungry I was. Food was flying everywhere, you would have thought we had been on that Cambridge liquid diet and had not seen food for months. We were so embarrassed we did not go back. The poor waitress kept bring us tea and asking if we were okay.... she could not understand our answer for our mouths were so full of food, I think someone in the crowd manage to speak a bit clearly to explain we were okay, just hungry.

Now that they have more restaurants and one closer, will have to check them out and this side dish.

Thanks for posting...I did add some chives to your recipe. Cant wait till its finished baking. The fragrance is wafting upstairs where I am sitting. Now to figure out what meat to go with it.

  39. I LOVE CRACKER BARREL! We don't have them in California so every time we go to AZ we go there. And I always find some cute little thing in the shop too. CeeKay and I went for dinner one night and then with Leonard too on my last morning there. Breakfast is my favorite!
SO of course, I am going to have to make these hashbrowns. I have a recipe that is very similar, I'm curious what the difference is - I will have to go dig it out and see.
Thanks for the well wishes for Justin.
Big hugs! Have a good weekend. Karen
