Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Dear Ones! Well, 2010 is just about over, isn't it? It's been a great year and I feel so blessed to have you all as my friends. I want you all to know how I've appreciated your visits, prayers, gifts and giggles as I try to keep my silly little blog going.

I wonder if you have discovered anything about yourself you would like to change in this coming year? I think for myself I need to be a bit more organized and get at it more! :) I've adjusted to Mr. Precious' retirement pretty good - but every day seems a bit like Saturday and I just can't afford to play all week long! :) So for 2011 I'm going to pop out of bed, get ready for my day, eat more healthy, blog a lot ~ at appropriate times ~ instead of staying in my nighties until 10am (well, or even later) and staying on my puter all day. Sound like a plan? :)

Again, Happy New Year and I'm so looking forward to another year with all of you Dear Ones.
Be safe and see you next year! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll drink a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

She Came in Through the Bathroom Window

She came in through the bathroom window
Protected by a silver spoon
But now she sucks her thumb and wanders
By the banks of her own lagoon

Didn't anybody tell her?
Didn't anybody see?
Sunday's on the phone to Monday,
Tuesday's on the phone to me

She said she'd always been a dancer
She worked at 15 clubs a day
And though she thought I knew the answer
Well I knew what I could not say.

And so I quit the police department
And got myself a steady job
And though she tried her best to help me
She could steal but she could not rob

Didn't anybody tell her?
Didn't anybody see?
Sunday's on the phone to Monday,
Tuesday's on the phone to me
Oh yeah.

Top Projects of 2010

Hello, Dear Ones! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. It was a quiet one here at Note Songs cottage ~ just Mr. Precious, Mother, Chloe Dawn and me.

I got all excited when I read that Our Dear Rhoda at Southern Hospitality was having a party! Not just any party, but a Top Projects of 2010 Party. So here I come...I just love parties! I'll be showing you my little projects too but not in any particular order.

I bought new chairs for the living room that actually matched my colors in the sofa. These chairs are so hard to snap and their true color doesn't really show up. But they are more a rusty color than you see here.

Then I got busy and painted the wall areas of my kitchen and breakfast area
from deep red to soft mellow yellow. Just loved it.

Painted my little peninsula who wants to be an island a sweet soft green.

Put some sweet little yellow polka dot fabric behind my chicken wired doors here at the kitchen desk area. I see now I need to cover that awful looking chair! :)

Oh, the joyness of life! I got new granite counter tops and a beadboard backsplash painted the same sweet yellowness of my walls!

New sink and faucets too! Woo Hooness!

Not a big project, but just changing out my tiny little wimpy buffet lamps to more chunky ones made a huge improvement.

Ta Dah!

Then I went upstairs and changed out a linen closet to a dish closet! I love this.

I organized and made little labels on the shelves so I would know what dishes were where. I'm so wonderful like that you know! :)

I covered little boards with batting and fabric to place at the backs of my wall units.
There was just too much woodsieness going on.

Makes all my little junk, um, I mean pretties show up so much better.

Oh, I learned how to make these fabulous shabby roses and just started putting them on everything! I made a special pillow for my bed and poked these little roses on it!

Am I good or what? You know I'm teasing...well, sort of! :)

We redid our master bathroom. Yep, red again. I do love me some red but was getting very tired of it in here. I have to admit I painted the walls red. There was some yucky wallpaper here and it would not come off so I just painted over it! :)

We had the yucky painted over wallpaper removed, the 1970s counter to ceiling mirrors removed, pulled up the carpet, refaced the cabinet doors and drawers, got a new counter top and new brushed nickel faucets and hardware! New tiled shower and removed the tub to ceiling mirrors from around the tub and had that tiled too. Whew!!

Then right out a little door off the bath was what we lovingly called "The Spa Room". Not too spa like, but we had a full blown hot tub in here (the previous owners did this) and you now can see the most lovely wall paper I was talking about! Yucky. The hot tub was literally cut to pieces to get it out of the room. The yucky olden floors were taken up and a new bamboo floor put it. It's beautiful now ~ but it's nekked (that's Texan for naked). That will be my project for next year ~ to furnish and decorate this new room.

I made a couple of Hooter Hiders ( I just giggle every time I say that) for my daughter to nurse our little grand under. We went to a high end store and saw these and I told her I could make her some...so I did. Again, I will remind you of my talents! ;).
I really am teasing, sort of! :)

But my very biggest and most rewarding project of the year 2010
was becoming a grandmother!!
That does count, doesn't it?
I hope Rhoda won't kick me out for stretching my most important project just a little bit.

Thank you for popping in to see my projects and please pop on over to Rhoda's to be so inspired by so many!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

She Works Hard for the Money

She works hard for the money
So hard for it, honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
So hard for it, honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

Onetta there in the corner stand
And she wonders where she is
And it's strange to her
Some people seem to have everything

Nine a.m. on the hour hand
And she's waiting for the bell
And she's looking real pretty
Just wait for her clientele

She works hard for the money
So hard for it, honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
So hard for it, honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

Twenty-eight years have come and gone
And she's seen a lot of tears
Of the ones who come in
They really seem to need her there

It's a sacrifice working day to day
For little money, just tips for pay

But it's worth it all
Just to hear them say that they care

She works hard for the money
So hard for it, honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

Already knows
She's seen her bad times
Already knows
These are the good times

Never sell out
She never will
Not for a dollar bill
She works hard

She works hard for the money
So hard for it, honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right

Merry Christmas

Dear Ones...

Do you hear what I hear?

Said the night wind to the little lamb
Do you see what I see
Way up in the sky little lamb
Do you see what I see

A star, a star
Dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear

A song, a song
High above the tree
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king
Do you know what I know
In your palace warm mighty king
Do you know what I know

A child, a child
Shivers in the cold

Let us bring him silver and gold
Let us bring him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere
Listen to what I say
Pray for peace people everywhere

Listen to what I say
The child, the child
Sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light

The child, the child
Sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light

I wish you all a most wonderful blessed Christmas. You've brought such joy to me through my years of blogging and I pray you'll allow the love of Jesus to fill your hearts.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

The Last of the Christmasing

Hello, Dear Ones, um, I mean Ho Ho Ho, Dear Ones! Are you tired of seeing Christmas decor? I'm really not and I hope you'll just look at mine one last time before Christmas Day! This is the last of my Christmasing around Note Songs cottage.

Okay, if I were Santie Claus, this is how I would look.
I'm kinda cute, don't you think? :)
I got all Santied up at Photofunia.
Just couldn't help myself.

Well, come on in and take a little tour of my house...

This will be my last post until after Christmas. I do want to wish everyone of you a most blessed and Merry Christmas. You have all been a blessing to me this year and I'm looking forward to being with you in the new year 2011!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

I'm dreaming of a white christmas,
just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
to hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white christmas,
just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
to hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white christmas,
with every christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright,
and may all your christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white christmas,
just like the ones I used to know
May your days be merry and bright,
and may all your christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white christmas,
with every christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright,
and may all your christmases be white

May your days be merry and bright,
and may all your christmases be white

And may all your christmases be white (All your christmases be white)
And may all your christmases be white (All your christmases be white)
And may all your christmases be
(All your christmases be white)
(All your christmases be white)
