My Tiny Little Guest

Dear Ones, I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving with your family and friends. If you haven't figured it out yet, we had little guests for Thanksgiving so I want to enjoy every single moment.

I just had to share a few pictures of my tiny little guest...

Here's little granddaughter, Carter, in her high chair I redid for her. Of course she has baby carrots all over her face and she's talking on the phone at the same time. She's very multitalented :)

Here's my lovely daughter and little Carter.

Since they are moving far away, we wanted to take advantage of little Carter's visit. We put up the Christmas tree and got her some Christmas presents so she could open them and make a sweet little memory with her grandparents. Talk about being blessed!!

I posted about this below the day before Thanksgiving but am going to mention it again because I was just so thrilled and wanted you to share the joyness with me! My kitchen redo was featured over at Remodelholic (just click on the word Remodelholic and it will take you there). Please pop over and visit Cassity and you can read all about it.
Oh, by the way, tell her how wonderful I am!! :) You know I'm teasing.

Thank you so much, Cassity, you've made my day!!

I am going to continue to enjoy my family and will be back to blogging Dec. 2!! Love to you all.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

I'm So Excited

Happy Ever After

Hello, Dear Ones! I'm so excited to show you a little redo I've just completed! I'm always excited, aren't I?

Well, I wanted a highchair for our little granddaughter, Carter, to sit in when she comes to visit. Now that's not very often because they live so far away. But I do like to be prepared! :)

I could have bought her a new highchair and it would have worked just fine. But No, No Nannette!! I wanted an olden one like I had as a little baby ~ all wooden and very sturdy. On with the search - antique shops, junk shops, Goodwill and even Craigslist. Not one single olden wooden highchair. And then...

as I was browsing one of my favorite thrift shops, there to my wandering eyes should appear - standing in the corner an olden wooden highchair!! :) Hallelujah! Joyness!!

Brought her home and began to fill in the cracks with filler. Guess what? I only paid $22.50 for this lovely! The thrill of it all! Woo Hooness!!

Olden, but sturdy. She just needed some TLC and I was the one to give it!! ;)

Placed her in the garage and took off the little food tray and the foot rest, got out my electric mousey and went to town sanding away.

Then primed her all up. Now I used Kilz primer but someone said there was a Zinnsser primer you could use on wooden pieces and you didn't have to sand first. Have any of you used it and did it work okay? That would be so nice to skip sanding.

Brought her back in the house and painted her up with the same green paint I used on my little half island in the kitchen. She looked sweet but she needed something else.

I decided to maker her cutzy pootzy just for my little Carter. Painted on some Mary Englebreit fried egg flowers, well, I tried to but they look more like lollipops! :) I just used my little craft paints.

Then I painted on a little bunny, trying to make her look sweet. I almost used stencils, because I'm a little bit lazy, but now I'm glad I used my own dainty fingers to freehand my little artwork - the good, bad and ugly of it all! :)

I can't leave well enough alone so I painted one tiny little bunny's backside on the little tray. I was so proud that I was finished and grabbed my brush and polyed til late one evening. I must have been really tired not to notice but the next morning I came down to admire all my work and there was one of Chloe Dawn's silky little hairs all polyed down on the tray!! Yikes! I could have resanded, I guess and gotten it off, but heck, it's stayin'! :) I've just made some hairy little memories. No hair in Carter's food, but hair on the tray! :) I am thinking she'll probably scratch that little bunny to death trying to get him off! :)

Now my olden sturdy wooden highchair is all put back together and sitting in the breakfast room waiting for Carter.

Do you love her? Oh, I do, Dear Ones! She's olden and she's revived and she's green!

Here's where the little tray is attached...

and to place Carter in the chair and take her out - you just flip the tray to the back.

Little footrest all in place.

See? You can adjust it.

What do you think? Did I do good?

Well, I couldn't just leave this post and not poke something in the highchair now could I? So I grabbed Roscoe, my olden childhood bear, and poked him in the seat. He loved it and wanted something to eat. He cannot smell food anymore since his nose is gone but he can sure look at it and eat it! :) The darling little silver fork and spoon were given to Carter when she was born by my sweet friends, Sheila at Quintessential Magpie and Jeanne at Backyard Neighbor. Well, I decided to keep them here at grandma's house just for these special occasions. Does this qualify for a tabletop, Marty? :)

What have I started? Friends are gathering. :)

Hope you liked my little redo today and I'm awaiting a very special guest for Thanksgiving! :)

Ever Ever After

Storybook endings, fairy tales coming true
Deep down inside we want to believe they still do
In our secretest heart, it's our favorite part of the story
Let's just admit we all want to make it too

Ever ever after
If we just don't get it our own way
Ever ever after
It may only be a wish away

Start a new fashion, wear your heart on your sleeve
Sometimes you reach what's real just by making believe
Unafraid, unashamed
There is joy to be claimed in this world
You even might wind up being glad to be you

Ever ever after
Though the world will tell you it's not smart

Ever ever after
The world can be yours if you let your heart
Believe in ever after

No wonder your heart feels it's flying
Your head feels it's spinning
Each happy ending's a brand new beginning
Let yourself be enchanted, you just might break through

To ever ever after
Forever could even start today
Ever ever after
Maybe it's just one wish away
Your ever ever after

(I've been dreaming of a true love's kiss)

Oh, for ever ever after

Got Milk?

Hello, Dear Ones. Hope you all are having some cooler weather. We are and I'm loving it! High 50s - heavenly.

Now on to the milk...
I'm always changing things up and my tiny little round table in the breakfast room is no exception. I've taken my milk glass container and filled it to the brim with breakable pumpkins that are not edible that were bought from the dollar store a few years ago. I've also tossed in a few wooden acorns. I suppose you could chew on these if you really wanted to. :)

Here's a closer peep! Breakable pumpkins but not edible, wooden acorns which you could chew on, all floating in milk glass! Milk glass does a table good! You know I'm a silly. :)

I've placed two wooden candlesticks on each side of the milk glass and placed two more breakable and not edible pumpkins on each. Did I mention the pumpkins were not edible? :)

Pumpkins on pedestals but not edible. I'm so creative you know with my words! :)

The black and white ribbon was woven in and out of the milk glass way back in the summer. I liked the look and it just stayed. The ribbon is not soggy at all!

So there you have it ~ a tiny little centerpiece on my tiny little round table in my tiny little breakfast room. Milk does a table and breakable but not edible pumpkins good! :) Oh, and wooden acorns you chew on if you really wanted to. :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Five Little Pumpkins

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate, (hold hands up)
The first one said "oh my its getting late," (hands on cheeks)
The second one said "there's a chill in the air," (hug self)
The third one said "but we don't care," (shrug)
The fourth one said "we're ready for some fun," (jump)
The fifth one said "lets run, run, run," (run in place)
So woo went the wind, and out went the lights,
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight (sit down).

Time Out!

Hello, Dear Ones!! We all know poor little children have to go and sit in corners when they've been bad. Well, I have some little pretties in my kitchen that have been sent to the corner but it's because they've been good!

Here I've set up a little corner vignette filled with Fallness. Are you tired of seeing Fallness? I'm sure not. No no Nannette, I'm not! :)

This is a lovely tea pot completely covered with Fallness! See the cornucopia on the side? Unfortunately this little tea pot is only for looking at and not for drinking hot nectar from. She sits very comfortably upon a Johnson Brothers dessert plate.

Pumpkins and Fallness of flower sit up front.

My tiny little Rooster lamp keeps the light on at night while sitting on a little doily I made with my most tiny dainty fingers. Then an olden cookbook holds these two up on it's strong back. In the very back is a little green bunny tray. Not too Fallen but just as cute as a bug.

Now tell me, Dear Ones, do you have any items in time out in your kitchen? It's a good thing!

I'm hoping this will work for Kim's at Savvy Southern Style for her Boring to Better Party,
Courtney at French Country Cottage for Feather Your Nest Friday,
and
Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

Bad to the Bone

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~
On the day I was born
The nurses all gathered 'round
And they gazed in wide wonder
At the joy they had found
The head nurse spoke up
Said "leave this one alone"
She could tell right away
That I was bad to the bone

Bad to the bone
Bad to the bone
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
Bad to the bone

I broke a thousand hearts
Before I met you
I'll break a thousand more, baby
Before I am through
I wanna be yours pretty baby
Yours and yours alone
I'm here to tell ya honey
That I'm bad to the bone
Bad to the bone
B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-Bad
Bad to the bone

Torn Between Two Lovers

Hello, Dear Ones. Oh, I'm in a dilemma today! Yep, I've got a problem ~ a big big problem!

If you know me, then you know how I love my yard birds, especially my Roosters (that's with a capital "R").

This handsome fellow has been my very most favorite of all my yard birds for some time. Oh how I love him.

But now another most handsome one has entered into my tiny life! Look at him! Is he not handsome or what? And...his colors match my kitchen!!

Now you can see why I'm torn between two lovers can't you??

Just look at my new man!! Look at that face - that covergirl face...um, you know what I mean. Then those gorgeous tail feathers! I'm loving him all the way down to his most tiny Rooster feet! Now can you blame me?

He looks just perfect in my kitchen so I had to set up a little vignette just for him! He, of course, being the center of attraction.

I've used my little pale green wooden tray filled with Fallness and a pretty candle.

I've added a few little wooden acorns.

and some little glass gourds.

Then I've grounded the tray with my little Rooster tea towel made by my most dainty fingers! :)

Oh, I'm about to swoon I'm so in love. But I can't quit loving my first Rooster ~ he totally has my heart. But now I in love with my new Rooster too! Oh, Lord have mercy! I'm just torn to pieces between my two lovers! :)

I'm joining our Dear Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday,
and
our Dear Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday.

Make sure you pop in to see these ladies and you'll get your socks knocked off with inspiration!

Torn Between Two Lovers

There are times when a woman has to say what's on her mind
Even though she knows how much it's gonna hurt
Before I say another word let me tell you, I love you
Let me hold you close and say these words as gently as I can

There's been another man that I've needed and I've loved
But that doesn't mean I love you less
And he knows he can't possess me and he knows he never will
There's just this empty place inside of me that only he can fill

Torn between two lovers, feelin' like a fool
Lovin' both of you is breakin' all the rules
Torn between two lovers, feelin' like a fool
Lovin' you both is breakin' all the rules

You mustn't think you've failed me
Just because there's someone else
You were the first real love I ever had
And all the things I ever said
I swear they still are true
For no one else can have the part of me I gave to you

I couldn't really blame you if you turned and walked away
But with everything I feel inside, I'm asking you to stay

Torn between two lovers
Feelin' like a fool
Lovin' both of you is breakin' all the rules
~ sung by me and Mary Macgregor

Feelin' the Love Again

Hello Dear Ones and I truly hope you've had a wonderful weekend. Our weather has actually cooled down into the 50s and I'm just loving it!! I would like to thank you all who placed bids on my tablerunner that I submitted for the auction for Valorie from Visual Vamp and hosted by Laura from Decor to Adore.

And the winner is Deborah from Fairfield House!
Congratulations, Deborah.

I wanted to share with you a couple of giveaways I won a few weeks ago!! Oh, I just love giveaways don't you? I just feel so special when ever I win one. Yep!! I'm feelin' the love!

Do you recognize this lovely lady? I know she looks a little like a black and white illustration, but really this is Angela from Sew Loquacious Blog. I won her giveaway and want to show you all the goodies I received!

Loads of treasures...

Sweet card...

Two pieces of darling fabrics and a pattern for this adorable bag! I love it!

Then all kinds of scrapbook embellishments that will help me get back to scrapping!

Then a wonderful 'Thank You' stamp!! Thank you so much, Angela, for drawing my tiny name!!

Then I received another giveaway from this most beautiful one!!
This is Martha from Mid-Atlantic Martha and I won her giveaway! Woo Hooness, Bloggy love!

Wonderful books - very Southern books! :)

Sweet note on an adorable paper.

Look at this title and then the sub title...I love this stuff!! Oh, course, like Martha said, I was the most perfect Southern Mother! Don't you laugh! No, no Nannette! I was, I really was! :)

This is such a hoot! Did your mother ever tell you this? Mine did and she started with 'Stand up straight'. That was probably because I was so short! :)

Great advice and I can't wait to get started reading these. Thank you, Martha for drawing my most tiny Southern name.

I just love this stuff and I love Blogland and I love Angela and Martha!! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

Blessed

I welcome the sun,
the clouds and rain,
the wind that sweeps the sky clean
and lets the sun shine again.
this is the most magnificent life has ever been.
here is heaven and earth
and the brilliant sky in between.

blessed is this life
and I'm gonna celebrate being alive.
blessed is this life
and I'm gonna celebrate being alive

I dwell in the darkness
I let in the light
I sleep in the afternoon
and become the noise in the night
I trespass in temptation
suffered in sacrifice
but I awake each day with a new sunrise

blessed is this life, oh
and I'm gonna celebrate being alive
blessed is this life, oh
and I'm gonna celebrate being alive
