I'm Still Fallen

Hi Dear Ones! Are we ever through Falling around in our homes? Well, I'm still Falling! This time in the breakfast room.

This is my olden bookcase usually used in offices but it stands proudly in my breakfast room holding ever so neatly my cookbooks!

The top is the perfect spot to decorate with a little Fallness!

My most special Rooster sits here most all of the time guarding. That's his job! With a few Fallen leaves at his most tiny feet - he's Fallen too.

Just in case I forget and think it's still summer, especially with temps over 90', I can walk in here and see my little blocks of Fallness and my memory will get crystal clear! :)

My little porcelain basket filled with fruit looks all Fallen surrounded with autumn leaves and berries.

I have a little small lamp that always sits here and waits patiently for darkness to fall so she can shine her special moonlight all around! :) Of course now with the Fallen leaves all around she casts a Fallen glow.

So autumn has Fallen all over my bookcase in my breakfast room. The air feels cooler, soup sits simmering on the stove and...

...the leaves are blowing all around! :)

Happy Fall Y'all!

Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Try to Remember

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a tender and callow fellow,
Try to remember and if you remember then follow.

Try to remember when life was so tender
That no one wept except the willow.
Try to remember when life was so tender that
Dreams were kept beside your pillow.
Try to remember when life was so tender that
Love was an ember about to billow.
Try to remember and if you remember then follow.

Deep in December it's nice to remember
Altho you know the snow will follow.
Deep in December it's nice to remember
Without the hurt the heart is hollow.
Deep in December it's nice to remember
The fire of September that made us mellow.
Deep in December our hearts should remember and follow

Autumn, The Year's Last, Loveliest Smile

Hello, Dear Ones. I am feeling a bit reflective today so I give you this...

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;

Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core

To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,

And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.
John Keats
Ode to Autumn

Shelia :)

My Fallen Hutch

Hello, Dear Ones. Well, my little tiny hutch in my breakfast room has hopped on the band wagon of Falleness. I hope you don't get tired of seeing my little hutch - I show it to you so often. It is my favorite play toy after all. ;)

before the Falleness

after the Falleness

I've thrown in one artsy play photo just for fun.

Hope you like the change of my Fallen hutch. I'm diggin' it! Most all of my dishes have come from Marshalls or Ross. My pumpkin tureen was found at my favorite thrift store as well as my white tureens sitting on top!

Did you notice I didn't talk as much today? I thought I'd be a little more quiet for a change. :)
It was hard to do but I managed! :)

I'm joining our Dear Cielo at The House in the Roses for Show Off Your Cottage Monday,
our Dear Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday,

Turn! Turn! Turn!

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

My Fallen Mantle

Hello, Dear Ones! I've still been Falling around all over my house. One of you sweet ones said it was so much fun to Fall! I totally agree.

I wanted to bring you into the den today and show you my Fallen mantle. It's just poked full of Falleness!!

Here's a little closer peep!

First of all you'll see my starfish on the left hand side of the mantle. It's always somewhere on display in my house. I love my little starfish. Can you love a little starfish? Well, you bet your shells by the seashore you can!
I found the green vase a few years ago at a thrift store and had to have it. The green vase makes its appearance each fall. I've placed all kinds of Fallen faux flowers in it. I know some of you don't like faux flowers but they have places of honor in my home! You know what I say - I love my Fallen fauxs and my Fallen fauxs love me! :) I actually have plastic tubs filled with my darling fauxs and I use them over and over again.

I've placed a platter up here, it's not Fallen at all, but I love it and it has some nice colors so I thought I'd use it.

Then on the right hand side I've poked a couple of candlesticks up here.

I've added some pumpkins and a Fallen garland and now I think I'm done. If the temps outside would just get a little bit cooler then I could light a fire and I could truly be a Fallen women! :)

September Morn

Stay for just a while

Stay, and let me look at you

It's been so long, I hardly knew you

Standing in the door

Stay with me a while

I only want to talk to you

We've traveled halfway 'round the world

To find ourselves again

September morn

We danced until the night became a brand new day

Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play

September morning still can make me feel that way

Look at what you've done

Why, you've become a grown-up girl

I still can hear you cryin'

In the corner of your room

And look how far we've come

So far from where we used to be

But not so far that we've forgotten

How it was before

September morn

Do you remember how we danced that night away

Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play

September morning still can make me feel that way

Deadheads

Hello, Dear Ones! Before I start my post today I wanted to invite you all to a blog party I'm having. It's called Heart of the Home Party and it's about showing your kitchen. I hope you'll all come. For the information you need just click on the little party button I made with my mosty dainty fingers!! :)

Okay! I wanted to show you what I have sitting on my breakfast room table today! Flowers!! I know you're not surprised since most of us place flowers on our tables from time to time. :)

Well, this little ivory vase is filled to the brim with florals and guess what? They're faux! If you visit me often you're not surprised are you? Because I always say ~ I love my fauxs and my fauxs love me. I'm very sweet to my fauxs and used just as many as I could in this arrangement so as not to make any of them get their tiny feelings hurt! Especially the hydrangeas, as they tend to be a tad moody.

Then I popped down a couple of little pitchers and poked a hydrangea into each one. Now I have a delima ~ these were living, breathing, talking, live hydrangeas that came off my little bush out back. I chopped them off to dry them and dried they have. So...are they faux or dead now? I don't like calling them dead. But I could call them deadheads. Yep, Deadheads - then they would could be fans of the rock group the Grateful Dead! Truckin'...oh there I go. I just can't help myself sometimes! :)

A little mosaic of my Deadheads! They are lovely aren't they?

Come a little bit closer you're my kind of man so big and so strong - that's a song by Jay and the Americans! I'm just haunted by songs. I meant for you to come closer to see the pretty hydrangeas. So let me get back (Get Back - by the Beatles! I need to stop this. I think I need help!) ...Help, I need someone!...to my Deadheads! Listen, do you hear anything? Very soft singing perhaps? :)

Well, I decided the little pitchers needed to go and laid down one Deadhead bloom. I like this.

Then I laid down the next tiny little Deadhead bloom and this was the look I was after all along! I like this now. Fauxs and Deadheads ~ I love it! Hope you like it too!

I'm joining Our Dear Mary at Dear Little Red House for Mosaic Monday,
Our Dear Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday,
Our Dear Cielo at The House in the Roses for Show Off Your Cottage Monday,
and
Our Dear Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday.

Make sure you pop in to see the Most Dear Hostesses and see all of the talented ones around The Land of Blog.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Ripple

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music?
Would you hold it near, as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of man

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall, you fall alone
If you should stand, then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way, I would take you home
~sung by The Grateful Dead

Taking Care of Business

You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warning
Take the 8:15 into the city
There's a whistle up above
And people pushin', people shovin'
And the girls who try to look pretty
And if your train's on time
You can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day
And I'll be...
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime
Work out
If it were easy as fishin'
You could be a musician
If you could make sounds loud or mellow
Get a second-hand guitar
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of fellows
People see you having fun
Just a-lying in the sun
Tell them that you like it this way
It's the work that we avoid
And we're all self-employed
We love to work at nothing all day
And we be...
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime
Take good care of my business
When I'm away, every day whoo!
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
~sung by Bachman-Turner Overdrive
