Things Change

Well, they do in the den anyway...

This little area in the den is always changing ~ you know how it is. Change is good, isn't it?

This room is a little dark so this area is a little hard to photograph! Don't tell anyone but I've had to use the flash a few times!

Here I have a little chest and guess what's in it? Flatware!! :)

This picture is a recently acquired piece. Each spring we have a historic homes tour on our little island and Mr. Precious and I go every year and have for the last 13. I always buy the little print ~ sometimes framed sometimes not. This year I bought it framed! The artist paints a picture of all the homes on the tour. I love this stuff!

Then I have to poke down a little mama bird on top of olden books. I love my little birdies! Can you love little birdies? Well, you bet your little tweet tweets you can! :)

Here are the baby birdies.

Then I've placed some moss balls under these little stemmed cloches and they're sitting on top of a crocheted doily I made many years ago and you've all seen it before. I think these little cloches may be called cup cake cloches or domes. Don't know ~ but I love them! Can you love little stemmed cloches that you're not sure what they're called? Yes, you can...you bet your little pink icing you can! :)

Shiny mosaic!

I'm flashing here!! :) Just too dark in here not too! I've had fun changing things around in the den and hope you liked it.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

Here Come the Night

Woh, here it comes
Here comes the night, here comes the night

I could see right out my window, walkin' down the street,
my girl with another guy

His arm around her like it used to be with me,
oh it makes me want to die

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Well, here it comes
Here comes the night, here comes the night, woh yeah

There they go, it's funny how they look so good together,
wonder what is wrong with me

Why can't I accept the fact she's chosen him
and simply let them be

She's with him, he's turning down the lights
and he's holding her the way I used to do

I can see her closing her eyes and telling him lies,
exactly like she told me, too

Yeah yeah yeah

Foodie Friday - Self Layering Dessert

Hello, Dear Ones! I'm playing Foodie Friday hosted by Our Dear Michael Lee at Designs by Gollum. I haven't played in so long. I've been thinking about nostalgic things a bit and thought about this simply easy olden dessert. You've all probably made it before.

Self Layering Dessert

Can you see the three layers?

Now can you see them?

This is a very easy dessert using Jello ~ any flavor you want, sugared or sugar free.

Here's the two for Mr. Precious and me. I'll have the one with less foamy on top. I'll give the other to Mr. Precious! :)

I used sugar free Cherry jello and poked little strawberry halves into the foam.
Life is sweet! ;0
Align CenterIf you'd like an easy fluffy and light dessert, this will do just fine.

Self Layering Dessert

3/4 cup boiling water
1 Package (4 servings size) Jello, any flavor
1/2 cup cold water
Ice Cubes
1/2 cup thawed Cool Whip

Pour boiling water into blender. Add gelatin, cover and blend at low speed until gelatin is completely dissolved, about 30 seconds.
Combine cold water and ice cubes to make about 1 1/4 cups. Add to gelatin and stir until ice is partially melted.
Then add whipped topping and blend at high speed for 30 seconds. Pour immediately into dessert glasses. Chill about 30 minutes. Dessert layers as it chills.

Wiggle

Wiggle while you’re wriggling free
Come and giggle while you jiggle in a wiggling spree.
It's a tight squeeze
So come on please
Give me some wiggle room
That's what I want

Do it if you're bad
Do it if you're little
Do it with a jiggle
When you're looking for a giggle
Anywhere, anytime, anyone can wiggle

Puppy Kisses and Tail Wags

Hello, Dear Ones! I want to thank you all who went over to our Fifi Flowers to vote for Chloe Dawn for a chance to be painted for a series of new Beachy Doggy notecards. This was such a cute contest and seeing all of the doggies from Blogland just made me ooh and aww and smile. Hope you enjoyed looking at all of the little fuzzy faces. Don't know how Chloe Dawn fared but we'll all know tomorrow. But, she'll always be # 1 in my book.

Just look at my little darling...

Isn't she pretty? Well, I sure think she is.
She is the sweetest little mini Schnauzer with a little stubborn streak!! :)
Can you see her long eyelashes?
We really do have to cut them or they'll grown so long and will begin to turn downwards.

She'll be ten years old this September and as she gets older she stays closer and closer to me.
Of course I love it! She sleeps with me and Mr. Precious and doesn't even snore! :)
She only plays with her 'babies' and toys and has never chewed up anything other
than a facial tissue left on the floor!

Can you tell I love my little fuzzy face?

So to show her appreciation, Chloe Dawn says she's sending you all lots of kisses and believe me she is stingy with her kisses and lots of little sausage tail wags (her tiny tail looks like a little smokey sausage to me)!

You are all so dear to us!!

You are a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Brown Eyed Girl

Hey where did we go,
Days when the rains came
Down in the hollow,
Playin' a new game,
Laughing and a running hey, hey
Skipping and a jumping
In the misty morning fog with
Our hearts a thumpin' and you
My brown eyed girl,
You my brown eyed girl.

Whatever happened
To Tuesday and so slow
Going down the old mine
With a transistor radio
Standing in the sunlight laughing,
Hiding behind a rainbow's wall,
Slipping and sliding
All along the water fall, with you
My brown eyed girl,
You my brown eyed girl.

Do you remember when we used to sing,
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da

So hard to find my way,
Now that I'm all on my own.
I saw you just the other day,
My how you have grown,
Cast my memory back there, Lord
Sometime I'm overcome thinking 'bout
Making love in the green grass
Behind the stadium with you
My brown eyed girl
You my brown eyed girl

A Little Bit of Yellow Sunshine

Hello, Dear Ones! I just have to share with your something! I have some sunshine in my tiny breakfast room sitting on my little round table! Oh, it makes me happy and I love to share my happiness with you! :)

Pretty sunflowers, filled with sunshine! Sunshine, sunshine in my soul today!
Isn't that a song? :)

So what do I do when I have sunshine on my little round table? Set up a vignette!

First I have this lovely little square plate ~ it's hip to be square! Isn't that a song? :)
The pattern is Bluebird of Happiness, I believe by Dario Farrucci.

I have a little matching jar, maybe it is a canister. You know you just never can tell!
Was that a song title too? Maybe Chuck Berry. :) You know I just can't help it! Help!!
By the Beatles! I've got to stop this! :)
Anyway, precious birdness on it!

Sunflowers filled with sunshine! Yellow ~ Mellow Yellow! Yep! :) Donavan!
Are you with me?

Olden vase. It looks like my Fostoria crystal but it's glass called Whitehall.
I can see clearly now!
Wasn't that a song too? :)
Olden vase filled with yellow sunshine. Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy!
Yep! John Denver! :)

Then I've set up a little vignette with birds in the sunshine!
Bird is the word!! Isn't that a song too? :)

Wink!

Basking in the light!

A little fruit to please me and our birds! Oranges!

Hope you like my little vignette filled with sunshine and a few song titles!
You know I'm a silly. Can't be any other way! :)

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high

If I had a day that I could give you
I’d give to you a day just like today
If I had a song that I could sing for you
I’d sing a song to make you feel this way

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high

If I had a tale that I could tell you
I’d tell a tale sure to make you smile
If I had a wish that I could wish for you
I’d make a wish for sunshine all the while

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high
Sunshine almost all the time makes me high
Sunshine almost always

Doin' Dishes

Hello, Dear Ones! I've been washing dishes ~ by hand. My most dainty creamy fingers have been dipping into these lovely sudsy waters and cleaning my little dishes.

Sudsy. Foamy. Warmy. Watery.

Stacked and drying.

Sitting pretty on top of the dryer.

Yep! I'm doing dishing in the laundry room.

I'm doing dishes in the laundry room and I'll tell you more about it later, Alligator! :)

And...this is my tiny glass just about to be filled with ice and Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper with a tiny little chuck of lime. Mmmm....

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~ this song has nothing to do with my post except it's just the way I feel today! :)

Who put the Bomp

I'd like to thank the guy
Who wrote the song
That made my baby
Fall in love with me

Who put the bomp
In the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?
Who put the ram
In the rama lama ding dong?
Who put the bop
In the bop shoo bop shoo bop?
Who put the dip
In the dip da dip da dip?
Who was that man?
I'd like to shake his hand
He made my baby
Fall in love with me (yeah!!)

When my baby heard
"Bomp bah bah bomp "
"Bah bomp bah bomp bah bomp bomp"
Every word went right into her heart
And when she heard them singin'
"Rama lama lama lama"
"Rama ding dong"
She said we'd never have to part
So

Who put the bomp
In the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?
Who put the ram
In the rama lama ding dong?
Who put the bop
In the bop shoo bop shoo bop?
Who put the dip
In the dip da dip da dip?
Who was that man?
I'd like to shake his hand
He made my baby
Fall in love with me (yeah!!)

Each time that we're alone
Boogity boogity boogity
Boogity boogity boogity shoo
Sets my baby's heart all aglow
And everytime we dance to
Dip da dip da dip
Dip da dip da dip
She always says she loves me so
So

Who put the bomp
In the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?
Who put the ram
In the rama lama ding dong?
Who put the bop
In the bop shoo bop shoo bop?
Who put the dip
In the dip da dip da dip?
Who was that man?
I'd like to shake his hand
He made my baby
Fall in love with me (yeah!!)

Paint Your Wagon, Um, I Mean 'Kitchen'

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I'm going to show you a little change to my tiny kitchen today that I started last October!! I wanted to change the color of my walls from red to soft yellow so I'll be showing you my kitchen walls and also lead you on a little tour of the both the kitchen and breakfast room. Now I must warn you ~ picture overload!! I got lots of 'em so get ready! But I do give you permissin to leave but I hope you'll stay awhile! :)

Here we go...

I climbed up my little ladder just for you to take this snap!! And guess what? I didn't get any 'wall' in it! :)

I wanted to show you a few befores. These photos were taken at night so they're a little dark.

I have loved my red walls but after about seven years it was time for a change! Yes ma'am!

Here's a before and after ~ walking from the breakfast room into the kitchen.

Ta Dah! The lights have been turned on now! The yellow color is so much softer than it shows here. The sun was shining so brightly outside it looks a little glowy in here!

Since Mr. Precious retired in January, he's been helping me paint. We repainted the cabinets too. They looked white before but they were really a creamy color and when I repainted the walls yellow the cabinets screamed, "We look so nasty!" And they did!! :)

Notice anything here? I don't have an island but a tiny little peninsula and I wanted to paint it a different color! I did and the color of choice was a pretty soft green!!

Here's the cooking side! I'm loving it!

I showed you my little tea towels that I made for the Rooster Party a few weeks back ~ the bottom ones! But what I'm really showing you here are the little rods. I knew I wanted a couple of rods to hang some little towels on. Everywhere I looked the rods were too big and would have stuck out too much that my tiny fridge door would be knocking them off every time I went to pour myself a glass of diet Cherry Dr. Pepper! I was getting so upset! I took a deep breath and went to Ikea! Guess what I found? Rods? No no Nannette! Cabinet hardware! Yep, that's what these two little rods are - those slinky dinky moderny looking cabinet hardware that hang on the sleek modern kitchens that are totally not my style. They were absolutely perfect, only a little over two inches deep! But they were shiny silver! No no Nannette, I couldn't have this! That wouldn't work. So I took them outside and spray painted the socks off of them and now they sing my praises!! I love them! I know, I do get excited!! :)

Here we're looking toward my double ovens and pantry! I keep saying I'll show you my little pantry some day ~ it's really neat and you'd be surprised at how big it is inside, or rather how much it will hold! Anyway, you can see the little red plates I hung high upon the wall.

Wanted to bring you back to the sink side a minute to show you something. Now our house is olden, 1970 olden to be exact! And this kitchen has some olden amenities! Ha! If you can call them that! Bothermenities is more like it!

We do have a wonderful lazy Susan here under the cabinet! No no, Nannette, we didn't paint inside the cabinets. I guess we should have and the contact paper is what I put on over 13 years ago. Still is in good shape so it stays! As you can see, I poke dishes down here among other things!:)

Oh, Mr. Precious better eat his bananas before they turn to mush!! Sweet little platter and bowl is always filled with some kind of fruit. Now that's a sweet thing but it's not the real reason this little platter and bowl sits here. This is why...

...a very olden doomajiggy! The was the base for a mixer and blender. Just pop the appropriate one down and whrrrrr away! We were even gifted the appliances to pop on here when we bought our home. I played with it a couple times and then got rid of those big old bulky things. But we're left with this eye sore!! Bothermenities!! 1970s bothermenities!! I beg your pardon, I never promised you a beautiful modern kitchen or was that a rose garden! :) You know me and songs!

Very olden bread box made by a friend with whom I played with in my neighborhood when I was a little girl. I've had this since the 70s. It stayed wood stained for years and then I spray painted it and sponged on some little leaves and flowers. I probably should do something else to it, but for now it'll stay sponged!

Oh, I'm so good! I saved Mr. Precious lots of money by spray painting the olden knobs! I think they look just fine! Now the hinges were another story. As I said ~ olden house ~ and the hinges had been painted over and over so many times they were not coming off. So they stayed!! Just painted right over them like they weren't even there.

See this? There was hardware here and above the lazy Susan door that did nothing but aggravate me ~ more bothermenities! So I took them all off and found these cute little wooden medallions. I painted them the same color as the mini island (peninsula) and now I'm happy! I know, we need to touch up some places. I've already chipped some doors and drawers!! Shh...don't tell Mr. Precious. Very olden doors with little paint drips and oldeness all over them.

Kept my same little curtain that I had before. I love this fabric and added a little band of plaid that's the same as my chair seat bottoms in the breakfast room. Got my red Rooster clock above and sink along with a couple of Rooster plates found at Marshalls! Love that place! Oh, and Roosters abound in my window on those little glass shelves. Love the yard birds too! ;)

See the little corner cabinet door to the left of the dishwasher? Well, I'm not going to open it to show you, but it holds platters, cookie sheets and muffin pans. It has dividers and works well. Didn't paint the inside of it either! My so bad!!! :)

Here we are peeping into the dining room.

Peeping into the kitchen from the dining room! :)

This is the breakfast room and you've seen it many times. I love my tiny little breakfast room! That tiny little hutch brings me such joyness! It's my favorite toy and I'm always changing out the contents! Playing is fun ~ even when you're as olden as me! This is where I started painting last year! :)

I had bought some new fabric to make new little curtains. Excitement was welling up inside me! I made one set, hung them up and just hated them! So, I went back to my olden curtains. I think they look fine with the yellow, don't you? I just love this fabric. The reason these little blinds are always closed ~ the sunporch is behind the middle one and the left hand side one. The right window actually looks out to the driveway but it's covered, so no light!

Peeping from the breakfast room into the kitchen. The little louvered swinging doors lead to the laundry room.

Peeping from the breakfast room into the dining room.

You've seen this desk area before too! I blogged about it here if you're interested.

Even little Chloe Dawn has her special little spot in here. She's usually a very neat little diner but I see little crumbs of doggy food on the floor. I'll have to tell her to grab the broom and dust pan!

There you have it, Dear Ones. My tiny little kitchen repainted!!

Gotta dream boy
Gotta song
Paint your wagon

Where am I goin'?
I don't know
Where am I headin'?
I ain't certain
All I know
Is I am on my way

When will I be there?

When will I get there?
