Song Title Twist

Hello, Dear Ones! I have missed so much of the fun going on in Blogland and wanted to join our Dear Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday! Now I'm cheating a bit. Since I've been grand babying, I've used a post from last year. I've enlarged the photos and changed the wording so that makes it an 'almost new' post, don't you think?
Make sure you go and visit our Dear Susan after you leave here and see lots of dishes and lots of pretties.

I've set the dining room table for Easter with lots of sweetness. I just love sweetness. You may ask, can you love sweetness? Well, you bet your pink and yellow peeps you can! :)

As I said, I'm going to change the wording of my post from last year. I believe I'll just caption each picture with the name of a song. Would you like that? Would that be okay?

Okay, here goes...

Don't Leave a Mess at Lunchtime -preschool song

Polk Salad Annie - Tony Joe White

I'm Putting All My Eggs in One Basket - Ella Fitzgerald

Anticipation - Carly Simon

Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations

You Don't Bring Me Flowers Anymore - Neil Diamond/Barbara Streisand

I Never Promised You a Rose Garden - Lynn Anderson

Long Tall Glasses - Leo Sayer

Dizzy, I'm So Dizzy - Tommy Roe

Red Roses (Hydrangeas) For a Blue Lady - Wayne Newton

In Your Easter Bonnet - Fred Astaire

A Tisket, A Tasket - Ella Fitzgerald

I'll Get By With a Little Help From My Friends - Ringo Starr

And Then He Kissed Me - The Crystals

You Lift Me Up! - Josh Groban

I Only Have Eyes For You - The Platters

Baby Love - The Supremes

Come On Baby Light My Fire - The Doors

He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother - The Hollies

You've Got a Friend - James Taylor

I Saw The Light - Hank Williams

Happy Trails To You - Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans

I hoped you've enjoyed my little 'song title twist' for Tablescape Thursday. Please pop in to see our Dear Susan.

Shoot! I can't help myself. I just have to show you another picture of my dear little Grand daughter, Carter! Will this Grandmotherness wear off? I sure hope not! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll spare you a little Note Song today since I have you humming so many olden songs.

New Grandma in Action

Hello, Dear Ones! Most of you know we've just had our first darling grandchild ~ a little girl...

Carter Ashlan...our little darling!

Just so you'll know, we're home now and I'm a little sad having to leave our daughter and son-in-law and especially our little precious Carter. But we were able to spend two weeks and I helped out as much as I could...cooking, cleaning, changing diapers...you know ~ Grandma stuff. Isn't that the neatest little contraption? All the baby things have changed so much since I had my babies, but I was learning.

Like I said, I peeled fruit ~ that's cooking, right? :) No, no, I really did cook nutritious meals for my family! Yes, I did!

Tended to my two granddogs. They were exhausted visiting us and learning to be a good dog brother and dog sister to little Carter. The chocolate lab is named Finnley and the grayish one is named Zoe. Did I say they were exhausted? :) Being a dog brother and dog sister is very hard work you know!

I thought I would show you some photos of Dear Daughters house. A friend had taken these with a wide lensed camera and they seem a little blurry. Here's the living room. Dear Daughter decorates so completely different than me. I'm rather froo froo and I think she's a little craftsman style. Is there such a thing? She got the coffee table in England when they lived there and it's as long as a bed.

Here's her little galley kitchen. Yes, it's purple and wakes you up in the morning. She is just so organized and keeps everything in it's place so cooking in here was not hard. I think she could work as a professional organizer. She didn't get this talent from me! :)

The top photo is her dining room. Their next door neighbor in England made the table and bench for them. Well, as you see over the French doors there are some transferware plates. We both agree transferware is the bomb! :)

The bottom photo is their laundry room and it's big! See the great Hoosier cabinet there? I love that piece and it holds her wedding crystal and fancy dishes plus all her baking appliances.

The weather was so nice while we were there and I took little Carter outside a few times so she could get an early start to work on her baby tan! Now you know I'm kidding! :)

Dear Daughter has a green house and a green thumb! I'm so proud of her. As a little girl, she used to help me plant flowers and work in the flower beds, but I never grew any veggies. She has surpassed her Mom and grows so many things from seed. She has some lettuce growing in there planted from seed. I was just so impressed.

Dear Ones, thank you for all your sweet comments about our little grand daughter. She is doing well and I want to thank you for your prayers! I know this photo is a little blurry but just had to share it with you and let you see some of the fun little Carter and I were having. I was beginning to teach her some songs and she thought my songs were funny! :) Oh, to be a grandma! I am lovin' this stuff!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Close To You

Why do birds suddenly appear?

Everytime you are near

Just like me they long to be

Close to you

Why do stars fall down from the sky?

Everytime you walk by

Just like me they long to be

Close to you

On the day that you were born

The angels got together and decided

To create a dream come true

So they sprinkled moondust in your hair

Of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue

That is why all the girls in town

Follow you all around

Just like me

They long to be

Close to you

Indulge Me ~ Please!

Hello, Dear Ones!! I've missed you so much but I've been busy! :)

I know you probably do not enjoy baby filled posts but I ask if you'll just indulge me a little! I'm new at this Grand Mother stuff and I just have to show you my little grand daughter.

Isn't she the cutest little thing?

Snug as a bug. I giggled when I read one of your comments, my sweet friend Mona from Wsprsweetly of Cottages asked "Where's the pink?" Well, we didn't know if we had a little girl or a little boy so all of her clothes were generic. But never fear...Grand Mother brought lots of pink but unfortunately, she'll have to grow into them. :)

Mr. Precious is in hog heaven too!

Three generations...I love this stuff!

Little angel!!

Perfect in every way! Thank you God!

Mirror mirror on the wall...who's the sweetest one of all? Was there ever any question? :)

Magic carpet ride. Wait where is Carter?

There she is! All buckled up for safety.

Sweet pea in a pod!

Girls are always concerned about their weight!

See why I've been so busy? I just can't help myself.

Please know I've read all of your precious comments - yes, every one of them. If you don't hear from me ~ just be patient because I'll get there eventually. Because you see I'll be doing this..

...and this!

Dear Ones I would like to ask for prayer one more time for little Carter. She's doing well, but had her first checkup today and she is not gaining weight as fast as she should. I know she's very new to nursing and is learning how to do it properly. My daughter was just so upset and I would love you to say a prayer for her too. She's trying so hard at new motherhood.

I know all is well. I think I'll slip little Carter some candy and a bit of ice cream! That's pack on the pounds don't you think? Now, you really know I'm kidding.

Thank you so much for being my sweeties. I appreciate you so much. You have stuck with us through thick and thin. I ask God to richly bless each of you.

You are my bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Baby Mine
Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine,
Dry your eyes

Rest your head close to my heart

Never to part, baby of mine

Little one, when you play

Don't you mind what they say

Let those eyes sparkle and shine

Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too

All those same people who schooled you

What they'd give just for the
right to hold you
From your head down to your toes

You're not much, goodness knows

But you're so precious to me

Sweet as can be, baby of mine

~sung by Alison Krauss
