Reason for the Season Party

Hello, Dear Ones! I'm joining Our Dear Lynn at Happier Than a Pig in Mud for her Reason for the Season Party. We'll be showing our Nativities today. So here goes...

If you came to Marty's Christmas Cloche Party you saw this one and the following one...

This one is musical.

This Nativity is one of my larger ones and I always love to place it on my coffee table.
I just think Christmas need some doilies, so I pop them down wherever I can! :)
So much softer than hay don't you think?

Here's a small Nativity I found a few years ago at Marshalls ~ very tropical looking.
Look how Joseph is leaning over and peering at baby Jesus! :)

This little Nativity sits on a wooden base.
I love the sweet little Mary in this set.
I hate to say this, but everyone seems to have turned their focus
from baby Jesus and now they're all looking at Chloe Dawn being silly!
It's okay, Jesus loves me! :)

This is my oldest and dearest Nativity. It's close to 30 years old
and Mr. Precious bought this for me in Austin, Texas, at a Christmas Shop.
It's an Italian set by Fontanini and the pieces are so beautiful. When my children were small, each morning during the Christmas season, Mr. Precious would hide the baby Jesus and the kids would go looking for him. Sometimes he was in the stall with the animals, sometimes on the roof. It was a sweet little game. Sometimes even now, I'll walk pass this Nativity and sure enough, little baby Jesus is missing from the manger.
Mr. Precious still loves to play this game! :) We're so silly!

This is a set I bought for my Mother and Daddy years ago while we were on a visit to Mexico. When Mother moved to the retirement home,
she was downsizing and asked if I wanted it back?
Yes, indeed I did! So here it sits! I love it too.
I don't think you can see it, but the cow is missing a horn.
It was rough in the stable back then! :)
Of course you notice the fire on the right hand side to keep them all warm!
Not one Nativity piece was injured or burned in the making of this post! :)

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my Nativities and will go and visit Our Dear Lynn's blog to see so many Nativities - The Reason for the Season.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Away In A Manger

Away in a manger,
no crib for His bed,
The little Lord Jesus
lay down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky
looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus,
asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing,
the poor Baby wakes,
But little Lord Jesus,
no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus,
look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle
till morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus,
I ask Thee to stay,
Close by me forever,
and love me, I pray!
Bless all the dear children
in Thy tender care
And take us to heaven,
to Live with Thee there.
~sung by all of us!

  1. Well, honey, of COURSE the nativity scene needed some doilies!

Your Fontanini nativity just took my breath away -- my mother had one and I remember looking at it over and over again --- and now I realize that I don't know where it is! I'm going to have to track it down.

I used to let my girls hide the baby Jesus each year, and they would start clear across the house and bring him a little closer during each day of Advent, until Christmas Eve, after church, he would arrive at the manger.

When they come home this week, I'm pretty sure that if I have Jesus already in his crib, I'll hear about it, and he'll get hidden again!

    Lovely creches, Shelia.
(And BTW Your granddaughter is ADORABLE!!!!!)
    Merry Christmas! Cass

I've always admired that Fontanini set. Aren't you blessed to actually own one? So beautiful. And the one you gave your parents is just stunning--I love how the figures are all the same color!

Here's a question for you: when you sing "Away in a Manger," which tune do you prefer? I'm sure you know them both!
