Deadheads

Hello, Dear Ones! Before I start my post today I wanted to invite you all to a blog party I'm having. It's called Heart of the Home Party and it's about showing your kitchen. I hope you'll all come. For the information you need just click on the little party button I made with my mosty dainty fingers!! :)

Okay! I wanted to show you what I have sitting on my breakfast room table today! Flowers!! I know you're not surprised since most of us place flowers on our tables from time to time. :)

Well, this little ivory vase is filled to the brim with florals and guess what? They're faux! If you visit me often you're not surprised are you? Because I always say ~ I love my fauxs and my fauxs love me. I'm very sweet to my fauxs and used just as many as I could in this arrangement so as not to make any of them get their tiny feelings hurt! Especially the hydrangeas, as they tend to be a tad moody.

Then I popped down a couple of little pitchers and poked a hydrangea into each one. Now I have a delima ~ these were living, breathing, talking, live hydrangeas that came off my little bush out back. I chopped them off to dry them and dried they have. So...are they faux or dead now? I don't like calling them dead. But I could call them deadheads. Yep, Deadheads - then they would could be fans of the rock group the Grateful Dead! Truckin'...oh there I go. I just can't help myself sometimes! :)

A little mosaic of my Deadheads! They are lovely aren't they?

Come a little bit closer you're my kind of man so big and so strong - that's a song by Jay and the Americans! I'm just haunted by songs. I meant for you to come closer to see the pretty hydrangeas. So let me get back (Get Back - by the Beatles! I need to stop this. I think I need help!) ...Help, I need someone!...to my Deadheads! Listen, do you hear anything? Very soft singing perhaps? :)

Well, I decided the little pitchers needed to go and laid down one Deadhead bloom. I like this.

Then I laid down the next tiny little Deadhead bloom and this was the look I was after all along! I like this now. Fauxs and Deadheads ~ I love it! Hope you like it too!

I'm joining Our Dear Mary at Dear Little Red House for Mosaic Monday,
Our Dear Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday,
Our Dear Cielo at The House in the Roses for Show Off Your Cottage Monday,
and
Our Dear Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday.

Make sure you pop in to see the Most Dear Hostesses and see all of the talented ones around The Land of Blog.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Ripple

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music?
Would you hold it near, as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of man

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall, you fall alone
If you should stand, then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way, I would take you home
~sung by The Grateful Dead

  10. Silk flowers have come a long way! When I worked in a florist shop for a short while I honestly could not tell the real from the faux orchids without feeling them.
I've marked your kitchen party on my calendar and plan to attend. Wednesday I get a new countertop and after that, backsplash of ceramic tiles and I can hardly wait to have my kitchen back.

  11. Hi Shiela,
Your little deadheads are so pretty. You cut them at just the right time. I always think that I'll cut some off my moms bush but never seem to make it in time. One day they are beautiful and the next time I see them they are turning brown.
    I love the arrangement, too!
    Fondly,

Oh, and I love faux silk flowers too, like you! :)

  25. Good morning Shelia, I have been out of town the past four days and came back home late last night. My sister went on an antique buying trip and I went along to keep her company. We were all the way up in Ohio. Fun, fun, fun. I'm glad to be home again though.

I too love your faux flowers. I was sure they were real. Very pretty and I adore dried hydrangeas. They are lovely. You do crack me up with all your references to songs. My sisters and I do the same thing all the time. We too LOVE music. It makes me happy just to hear it anytime I am feeling low. That is not often. HA!

  56. I'm glad I stopped by this morning - you have me chuckling before my first cup of coffee!
I do love your mix of faux and deadheads - and I also have the problem of songs popping into my head when I hear certain words during conversations and even my own thoughts! It is enough to make you crazy sometimes...especially when I am compelled to share the songs with whoever I happen to be with.
