You Light Up My Life

DHello, Dear Ones!! Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend. Well, it's time to get down to the nitty gritty again. I'm joining Our Dear Susan for Met Monday, Our Dear Cielo for Show Off Your Cottage Monday and Our Dear Marty for Tabletop Tuesday. Make sure you pop in to see each hostess and your tiny most gorgeous baby blues will thank you!

Now on with the show...

This is my entry and you will see the Gone With the Wind Lamp that was given to Mr. Precious by my Mother many years ago. We love this lamp and it's always on to welcome guests. At night time we turn off the top and turn on the bottom that serves as a night light. Lamp love all the way.

Well, as you know things change.

Mr. Precious and I were in one of our favorite thrift shops and we spotted it! Another Gone With the Wind Lamp - a big 'un! Texas big even! Mr. Precious just loves these lamps! We looked at the price ~ $95 ~ not bad! Okay, I was going to buy it for my Mr. Precious. I took it up to the counter and the lady said "$75"! Woo Hooness! I jumped up and down and spun around a few times, sang a song and kissed her. Well, I didn't really kiss her! But I was so excited!!

It looks very similar to the lamp we had ~ but it's a lighter more mossy green and much bigger!

Hand painted top part.

Hand painted bottom part.

Just loving this lamp to pieces!! But other things needed to change.

My olden floral arrangement was a bit too modern looking and I was tired of it! So I pulled out my glass basket ~ got this at a garage sale in New Orleans for $10 and saw it in an antique shop here in Texas for $65! I love this glass basket! I filled it with the most beautiful blooms in colors which looked nice with our new lamp! Faux blooms of course! :) You know how I love my fauxs and how my fauxs love me! :)

Kept my little biscuit jar on the table. Just love this little jar but I'm sorry to say ~ I have no biscuits (that's what cookies are called in England) in my jar! :(

Hanging above my table is this lovely picture of pretty little cockatoos! It's very olden and I love it too! I believe you must love your things or toss 'em out! :) You know I'm just kidding, but it is important to like what you use in your home.

Speaking of tables, this one was given to me by my Mother in the late 1970s and she calls it a Six Leg Table. I call it that too and I love it! Wouldn't you know that? :) I've had it in lots of rooms but just love it here in the entry. Also it just doesn't look right to me without a doily spread across the top of it ~ so we're all doilified! On the little shelf underneath is a sweet little hand painted porcelain tea set!

Here is our new GWTW lamp all lit up just for you ~ the top and the bottom!

And if you're coming to see me in the evening, I've turned off the top and just have the bottom of the lamp lit to welcome you to my home.

Hope you've enjoyed seeing the transformation of a regular Gone With the Wind lamp into a big ole Gone With the Wind lamp!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

You Light Up My Life

So many nights I sit by my window
Waiting for someone to sing me his song
So many dreams I kept deep inside me
Alone in the dark but now
You've come along

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

Rollin' at sea, adrift on the water
Could it be finally I'm turning for home?
Finally, a chance to say hey,
I love You
Never again to be all alone

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

It can't be wrong
When it feels so right
'Cause You
You light up my life

  28. Hi Sheila Sweetie...
Oh my gosh how beautiful this lamp is, whether it is on or off, lamp or nightlight, it is EXQUISITE. My gosh I love it. And your glass basket looks so festive beside it with the beautiful floral arrangement. You are quite talented sweet friend.

I love the little biscuit jar. The florals are so pretty it just sets the green right off. What no biscuits? What kind of jar is that? Knowing my grandkids they would be peeking and peeking and peeking each time they passed, looking to see if at some point I had added biscuits.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful entry way with me sweetie. I have so enjoyed my visit.

Have a gorgeous evening. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  38. Sheila: I love your post today--a peak inside your lovely home!! I grew up surrounded by "Gone With the Wind" lamps. Did you know that in the GWTW scene where Ashley is carried into the bedroom after a brawl, Melanie picks up one of those lamps with the electrical cord attached? One of the filming "booboos".

    Have a great day!

    Best,
    Bonnie
