New Grandma in Action

Hello, Dear Ones! Most of you know we've just had our first darling grandchild ~ a little girl...

Carter Ashlan...our little darling!

Just so you'll know, we're home now and I'm a little sad having to leave our daughter and son-in-law and especially our little precious Carter. But we were able to spend two weeks and I helped out as much as I could...cooking, cleaning, changing diapers...you know ~ Grandma stuff. Isn't that the neatest little contraption? All the baby things have changed so much since I had my babies, but I was learning.

Like I said, I peeled fruit ~ that's cooking, right? :) No, no, I really did cook nutritious meals for my family! Yes, I did!

Tended to my two granddogs. They were exhausted visiting us and learning to be a good dog brother and dog sister to little Carter. The chocolate lab is named Finnley and the grayish one is named Zoe. Did I say they were exhausted? :) Being a dog brother and dog sister is very hard work you know!

I thought I would show you some photos of Dear Daughters house. A friend had taken these with a wide lensed camera and they seem a little blurry. Here's the living room. Dear Daughter decorates so completely different than me. I'm rather froo froo and I think she's a little craftsman style. Is there such a thing? She got the coffee table in England when they lived there and it's as long as a bed.

Here's her little galley kitchen. Yes, it's purple and wakes you up in the morning. She is just so organized and keeps everything in it's place so cooking in here was not hard. I think she could work as a professional organizer. She didn't get this talent from me! :)

The top photo is her dining room. Their next door neighbor in England made the table and bench for them. Well, as you see over the French doors there are some transferware plates. We both agree transferware is the bomb! :)

The bottom photo is their laundry room and it's big! See the great Hoosier cabinet there? I love that piece and it holds her wedding crystal and fancy dishes plus all her baking appliances.

The weather was so nice while we were there and I took little Carter outside a few times so she could get an early start to work on her baby tan! Now you know I'm kidding! :)

Dear Daughter has a green house and a green thumb! I'm so proud of her. As a little girl, she used to help me plant flowers and work in the flower beds, but I never grew any veggies. She has surpassed her Mom and grows so many things from seed. She has some lettuce growing in there planted from seed. I was just so impressed.

Dear Ones, thank you for all your sweet comments about our little grand daughter. She is doing well and I want to thank you for your prayers! I know this photo is a little blurry but just had to share it with you and let you see some of the fun little Carter and I were having. I was beginning to teach her some songs and she thought my songs were funny! :) Oh, to be a grandma! I am lovin' this stuff!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Close To You

Why do birds suddenly appear?

Everytime you are near

Just like me they long to be

Close to you

Why do stars fall down from the sky?

Everytime you walk by

Just like me they long to be

Close to you

On the day that you were born

The angels got together and decided

To create a dream come true

So they sprinkled moondust in your hair

Of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue

That is why all the girls in town

Follow you all around

Just like me

They long to be

Close to you

Indulge Me ~ Please!

Hello, Dear Ones!! I've missed you so much but I've been busy! :)

I know you probably do not enjoy baby filled posts but I ask if you'll just indulge me a little! I'm new at this Grand Mother stuff and I just have to show you my little grand daughter.

Isn't she the cutest little thing?

Snug as a bug. I giggled when I read one of your comments, my sweet friend Mona from Wsprsweetly of Cottages asked "Where's the pink?" Well, we didn't know if we had a little girl or a little boy so all of her clothes were generic. But never fear...Grand Mother brought lots of pink but unfortunately, she'll have to grow into them. :)

Mr. Precious is in hog heaven too!

Three generations...I love this stuff!

Little angel!!

Perfect in every way! Thank you God!

Mirror mirror on the wall...who's the sweetest one of all? Was there ever any question? :)

Magic carpet ride. Wait where is Carter?

There she is! All buckled up for safety.

Sweet pea in a pod!

Girls are always concerned about their weight!

See why I've been so busy? I just can't help myself.

Please know I've read all of your precious comments - yes, every one of them. If you don't hear from me ~ just be patient because I'll get there eventually. Because you see I'll be doing this..

...and this!

Dear Ones I would like to ask for prayer one more time for little Carter. She's doing well, but had her first checkup today and she is not gaining weight as fast as she should. I know she's very new to nursing and is learning how to do it properly. My daughter was just so upset and I would love you to say a prayer for her too. She's trying so hard at new motherhood.

I know all is well. I think I'll slip little Carter some candy and a bit of ice cream! That's pack on the pounds don't you think? Now, you really know I'm kidding.

Thank you so much for being my sweeties. I appreciate you so much. You have stuck with us through thick and thin. I ask God to richly bless each of you.

You are my bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Baby Mine
Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine,
Dry your eyes

Rest your head close to my heart

Never to part, baby of mine

Little one, when you play

Don't you mind what they say

Let those eyes sparkle and shine

Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too

All those same people who schooled you

What they'd give just for the
right to hold you
From your head down to your toes

You're not much, goodness knows

But you're so precious to me

Sweet as can be, baby of mine

We've Just Had Our Baby!!!

Oh, Dear Ones, I had to tell you! Our daughter has given birth to a 7 lb. 2 oz. baby girl - 20 in. long. Her darling little name is Carter Ashlan! Well, shoot! We were not there, little Carter decided to come a tad earlier than we expected but we're leaving Wednesday. They live in Washington state. So...as soon as I have pictures I'll share those with you.

I couldn't wait to tell you and wanted to thank you all for your prayers and best wishes. God is so good. Our daughter's labor was only a little over two hours! Hallelujah! I've already talked to her and she's doing well. She had the baby at a birthing center with a midwife and it was a wonderful experience for them. Son in law was right there with her the entire time! The midwife said Daughter's labor was what every first mom would want.

Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers! I may be missing for a while. But had to share with all of you sweeties.

You can call me Grandma!
You are my bunch of sweeties,

Wimpy Wimpy Wimpy - Hefty Hefty Hefty!

Hello, Dear Ones! I'd like to share some happenings in the dining room!

I 've had these little lamps sitting on my "Little Richard" in the dining room for some time. I took a good look at them and realized they were so wimpy!! Too dinky!!

...from wimpy wimpy wimpy to hefty hefty hefty! I'm loving these new lamps!! Went shopping at Hobby Lobby and these were half off! Fantastic! Love a bargain and love my new lamps! Can you love new hefty lamps? Well you bet your little light bulbs you can! :)

Here I will give you a closer look.

I'm just loving everything about these new lamps. Look at the pretty finial, tiny little edging, a little bit of gathering on the corners of the shade, pretty shapely body and the base is just so nice. Also look at the top photo on the right - the lampshade is lined with this pretty paisley fabric.

Well, with a change of new lamps on the "Little Richard" (olden buffet that once belonged to my friend Richard) I was going to have to make a change on the top of the "Little Richard". You do name your furniture too, don't you? :)

Ta dah!! Newness of top on the "Little Richard". A little bit of springness!

One more look at my new lamps! I'm milking this aren't I? As they say, milk does a body good ya know! :)

Nothing like a little springness in the dining room to put a smile on my most gorgeous tiny face! :) You know I'm kidding!

It's beginning to look a little like Easter on the "Little Richard", don't you think?

These are some sweet little rabbits I've had for sometime but they live upstairs and I'm always forgetting about them! Shame on me! They're so cute!

This is a fashion plate that I made last year. Well, I didn't exactly make the plate but I did Modge Podge the fabric to the back and I love it! Can you love Modge Podged fashion plates? You bet your stuck together fingers you can! :)

Can't have Easter without an Easter basket and I have the perfect one! Olden glass Easter basket filled with eggs! Lovely faux Easter eggs. Faux eggs are great because they will never go bad and will never smell rotten. Not that I've ever experienced that, I'm just sayin'. :)
Now if you'll look ever so closely at the base of the Easter basket you'll see a teeny tiny little bunny spreader just in case my little rabbits need it to slice their little eggs! They have such nice manners! ;)

Well, there you have it, Dear Ones...a change in my dining room!

I'm joining our Dear Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday.

I'm also joining our Dear Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.

I'm joining our Most Beautiful Cielo at The House in the Roses for Show Off Your Cottage Monday.

And, last but certainly not least, I'm joining our Dear Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Table Top Tuesday.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Wonderful Wonderful

Sometimes we walk hand in hand by the sea And we breathe in the cool salty air, You turn to me with a kiss in your eyes And my heart feels a thrill beyond compare Then your lips cling to mine, it's wonderful, wonderful Oh, so wonderful my love. Sometimes we stand on the top of a hill And we gaze at the earth and the sky I turn to you and you melt in my arms There we are, darling, only you and I What a moment to share, it's wonderful, wonderful Oh, so wonderful my love This world is full of wondrous things it's true But they wouldn't have much meaning without you Some quiet evenings I sit by your side And we're lost in a world of our own I feel the glow of your unspoken love I'm aware of the treasures that I own And I say to myself, it's wonderful, wonderful Oh, so wonderful my love!

Little Things

It's the little things.

It the little thing like tiny little toes that will one day soon fill the footies.

It's the little things like tiny fingers that will soon find their way to the pocket.

It's the little things like a tiny little crocheted star.

It's the little things like tiny little chubby legs.

It's the little things like tiny little hands with little short chubby fingers that will soon be poking out from the sleeves.

It's the little things like sunshine from our mighty God shining down on our little soon to be miracle!

It's the little things like holding a brand new little life and bowing my head in prayer with thanksgiving and praise in my heart.

It's the little things like knowing a tiny bit of myself will be living on in that little new life.

It's the little things that mean so much in life. The little fact that we are soon to become grandparents fills my heart with joy and love.

It is not a little thing that I value all of you, Dear Ones, and ask that you would say a prayer for my Daughter as the day draws near for her to give birth to our first grand baby. I would so appreciate your prayers for a safe delivery for my Daughter and a healthy born grand baby.

You are my bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Word of God Speak

I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say

Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak

I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice
~sung by Mercy Me
