Blue and Met Monday- Mantlefestation

Hello, Dear Ones! Welcome to Monday!! I'm joining our Dear Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday and our Dear Sally at Smiling Sally for Blue Monday. Pop in to pay them a visit and it will just make your Monday. :)

It's Mantlefestation time! Now that Christmas is over (well long time over) I've tried to make some changes on my mantle. This was my Christmas mantle.
We were traveling quite a bit so I was not able to take everything down until mid January!

Well, this is my change. I think I like it. I've had it this way before.

I found these urns years ago and just fell in love with them. I decided to make little topiaries for them. So I bought the forms, poked em in the urns and then poked on some greens and here they are.

Since we live coastal, I always have to have a little shell or two hanging around. I love this star fish! Can you love little star fishes? Well, you bet your Pirates of the Caribbean you can. :)
Here's some Blue for you, Dear Sally!

Sitting beside my topiary urns are these little Staffordshire dogs! I have a collection of these little beauties and this is my largest pair! Too cute.

Sitting in the middle of the mantle is this old mantle clock! Appropriate name, don't you think?

On one side of the hearth I've placed two candle jars. Light the candles inside and you get - twinkle twinkle! :)

On this side of the hearth I have this...(?) At first I thought it was a pineapple but no no Nannette! I don't think so now. Could this be a pine cone? Or maybe it's an artichoke? I really don't know but I do love my (?) Can you love little (?) Why, you bet your little whatchamacallits you can! :)

Now any self respecting fireplace hearth must have a cricket for good luck. So here sits mine. Don't be scared - he's not going to jump on you. He's dead, well, he's metal. :)

Well, this is my contribution for Met and Blue Monday! Please go visit Dear Susan and Dear Sally and you'll be delighted!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

I'll Be Watching You
(this song has nothing to do with my post, I just like this one!)

Every breath you take
And every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
Ill be watching you

Every single day
And every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
Ill be watching you

Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
Now my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
Ill be watching you

Since youve gone, Ive been lost without a trace
I dream at night, I can only see your face
I look around but its you I cant replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please

Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
Now my poor heart aches
Every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
Ill be watching you

Every move you make
Every step you take
Ill be watching you
Ill be watching you

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
(Ill be watching you)

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
(Ill be watching you)

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
(Ill be watching you)

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
(Ill be watching you)

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
(Ill be watching you)

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night

  3. Yes, you had better watch me, as I love the Staffordshire dogs. And, I don't own any --- so if yours are missing, you had better come to Colorado to find them! I also enjoy seeing your mantle clock - That was one thing I would have liked to have had out of my grandmother's house; but, alas, my uncle took it. Oh well, I really inherited more than my share. Yes, that little red pillow on my bed is our favorite fabric. Have a good week. Sally

  9. I might be tempted to keep the holiday decor up year round - I love the "dripping" ornaments! The urns are lovely, pairing them with the dogs is nice. I had an artichoke(?) like that in our last home. I think DD2 took it away... I may need to look that up!

Thanks for stopping by AtticMag and for leaving your sweet comment. Be sure to come back on Tuesday and Wednesday for more!

  17. Those urns are fantastic Shelia. I love decorative objects with lots of color. The cricket is so whimsical. It's a good thing he's "dead" because he's big! But then again, you are in Texas if I remember right.

  24. Good morning Sheila, time on my computer this morning is lovely. Your mantle at Christmas was stunning. Aren't you glad it was!!! I do love your new mantel look. I can see you are into balance. Me too. Your urns are beautiful and of course the dogs are treasures. I too have a mantel clock but I don't put it there. There is such a reflection from the tall wall of windows you can't read the time. Love the cricket and all of your lovely decor. You do have the touch Sheila.

Have a happy 'Blue Mom.' A contradictory of terms huh??? LOL.
    Hugs xoxo, Jeanne

  26. Your new mantel dress looks beautiful....tell me..is your mirror just propped up against the brick or is it hung? I am thinking of propping a mirror over my mantel in the dining room...but unsure yet. The mirror is so heavy, I hate to work getting it there and then find it has to be propped TOO much or it will fall..then I have to struggle to get it down again. O...I better wait until Mr. Sweet can do it. He is a much stronger person than tiny lil' o me !!:)Telling him that gets me a whole lot of things done around here!! tee hee...
Love those little S. dogs on either side of the clock..So pretty.
    hugs, bj

It's still snowing in England. Can you believe that? We have not decided what to do in the summer yet. At this moment in time anywhere that's not snowing would do!
