Here's the recipe:
Apple Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting
1/2cup butter, melted
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
1 cup chopped walnuts
Cream Cheese Frosting
Chopped walnuts (optional)
Stir together first 4 ingredients in a large bowl until blended. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; add to butter mixture, stirring until blended. Stir in apple slices and 1 cup walnuts.
Spread into greased 13 x 9 inch pan.
Bake at 350' for 45 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Spread with Cream Cheese Frosting; sprinkle with toasted walnuts, it desired. Store in refrigerator. About 12 to 15 servings.
Now this dough will look thick like cookie dough, but don't be alarmed. It's supposed to be thick.

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~
Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree
Don't sit under the apple tree
with anyone else but me
anyone else but me
anyone else but me
no no no
don't sit under the apple tree
with anyone else but me
'til I come marching home
don't go walking down lovers lane
with anyone else but me
anyone else but me
anyone else but me
no no no
don't go walking down lovers lane
with anyone else but me
'til I come marching home
I just got word from a guy who heard
from the guy next door to me
the girl he met just loved to pet
and fits you to a "T"
so don't sit under the apple tree
with anyone else but me
'til I come marching home
don't give out with those lips of yours
to anyone else but me
anyone else but me
anyone else but me
no no no
watch the girls on the foreign shores
you'll have to report to me
when you come marching home
you're on your own
when there is no phone and I can't keep tab on you
be fair to me I'll guarantee
this is one thing that I'll do
I won't sit under the apple tree
with anyone else but you
'til you come marching home
don't sit under the apple tree
with anyone else but me
I know the apple tree
is reserved for you and me
and I'll be true
'til you come marching home
with anyone else but me
anyone else but me
anyone else but me
no no no
don't sit under the apple tree
with anyone else but me
'til I come marching home
don't go walking down lovers lane

ReplyDeleteThat cake is pure D (as in declicious) sin! Oh, how delicious it looks! I can just taste it. :-)
Have missed you and am glad to catch up with you wandering wayfarers. So glad your trips were fun and wonderful!
And yes, that was a green glove you spied, you mirror person you! LOL! I have been freezing my pinkies off in Florida, and I took those pics when I couldn't get warm, even inside. I stayed IN the bed and UNDER the covers for days on end. I would get so cold at night I couldn't sleep. One night, I wandered to Walgreens to buy some THICK socks, and my feet felt better. Then another night, I wandered to Walmart and bought a hat for my head that matches my new fleece PJ's Mr. Magpie gave me for Christmas. But the green gloves were an impulse buy from the $1.00 bin at JoAnn's fabrics before Christmas. Something told me I might need them, and I did... had to creep about every night in the bushes, turning on water for days. Mr. Magpie and I divided and conquered at various properties. We don't get cold for more than two nights, and we were bombarded by it. Our plants are deader than doorknobs.
I read your England post, and Shelianess, did your poor toes ever unfreeze??? It was too cold for me there in October, so I can't imagine what January is like there. But I bet it was beautiful. London is one of my favorite cities no matter the temp!
Love you much...
XO,
Sheila :-)
