Tablescape Thursday

Hello, Dear Ones and welcome again to Talbescape Thursday hosted by our Dear Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. If you want to see many lovely tablescapes and obtain some great ideas, pop over to see her.

I've set a Fallen table today and my inspiration comes from my darling little Rooster jugs! That's Rooster with a capital "R"!

If you visit me very often, you've seen these little darling ones. Mr. Precious and I bought these little jugs about ten years ago in Italy. Now don't be scared when you look at that dragon ~ just look at that precious little face! I saw them and it was love at first Rooster sight. I blame these little stinkers for getting me into my Rooster phase.

I'm using an appropriate charger today and layering plates...

I was in TJMaxx and saw these dishes that matched my Rooster jugs! I only bought four plates~ you really don't want to have too many dragons in your home! :) No no Nannette.

The next plate is from a set of four I found at Pier One last year. Perfectness of color, don't you think? Then I found these little darling bowls at my stop at TJMaxx! I think we'll start off with a tiny little fruit salad.

I'm using an ecru colored table cloth along with chicken napkins I made. The napkin rings I found at Marshalls and they are a pale yellow and a pretty blue. The brownish glasses were purchased from WalMart and the silverware is a few years old and is Onieda.

Now I must tell you a little story and you know how I love to tell you little stories. A few years after our visit to Italy, I was out on a shopping trip and popped into Tuesday Mornings and guess what my most gorgeous baby blues spied? This glorious soup tureen that matched my little Rooster jugs! I did not waste any time. I even passed GO without getting my $200! That was a mistake, wasn't it? :) I popped that little thing into my cart and headed right up to the cash register, grinning all the time! I was just thrilled!

I knew I would use this tureen for my centerpiece today.

Just have to have the romance candlelight gives to my table. I also wanted to make another mosaic. :) Well, I made it just for you! :)

You know how I love my faux flowers and my faux flowers just love me to death! I popped some Fallen looking fauxs in my tureen and my floral centerpiece was all ready!

Here's a close up of the base of the tureen and the underplate. I think they're very Fallen looking, don't you?

I just had to show you the pretty little lid with the pear knob on top. Don't you just love it? Actually, this tureen being from Italy, even though I bought it from Tuesday Morning, it is Italian...:) I would have thought they would have put a lemon on top. Oh, well, I have a lemon tree in the yard... I know, I get sidetracked very easily. :)

See the little matching footed stand? Yep, just perfect with my Italian pieces and a perfect spot for a gourd. This was an alive gourd from last year and I killed it! But it was an accident, I promise! I poked it away in a cabinet and just ran across it this year and it had dried all out for me and I was thrilled, well not because I was a gourd killer, but that it still looked great! Look at those cute little stripes! I just love this stuff! Can you go to prison if anyone knows you've killed a gourd? Shh...don't say anything about this, you did not hear a word! No no Nannette! :(

We had some nice sunshine today so I raised the blinds just for you and so Chloe Dawn could see out! :) I just can't ignore my little fuzzy face. Just to clarify ~ if this is your first time to visit me I'm not saying I have the fuzzy face. The fuzzy face belongs to my little black mini Schnauzer, Chloe Dawn. Just making sure you understand. ;)

One more peek at my Rooster jugs. Did you see that? Did you?

Oh, shoot! You just missed it! The little baby jug just winked at you. What a little doll, um, I mean, what a little Rooster jug!

I thought I would show you my Little Richard covered with more Fallness. Little Richard is an old buffet I got from a friend named...can you guess? Richard! Yep, I'm very original like that! Okay ~ you can see I have the tea pot too ~ again, Tuesday Morning and a little matching tray. I also have an olive oil bottle, but decided I wouldn't show you that since olive oil doesn't go well with hot tea! :)

On the other side of the room I have this olden server. I found this little darling at an antique shop a few years ago and only paid $150 for her! I was so excited. It's scratched up and all, but I love it and just think I'll keep it this way ~ character ~ and you know I love character especially since I am quite a character myself! :P

Well, there you have it, Dear Ones, my Fallen table. I've been missing from TT for about the last month but I'm so glad to be able to join all my Dear Dishaholics again.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

  4. Hi Sweet Shelia, I knew when I saw the centerpiece that it was Italian. We have fun collecting odds & ends from thrift stores that are Italian. I love all your matching pieces. I've seen the little pedestal dish at our Tuesday Morning! I love the colors, especially for Fall. Your dishes, the antiques, the napkins.....everything is just beautiful together. Please give Chloe Dawn a hug from us. I love your mosaic especially!

  7. Ooh Shelia, everything looks great, but that server is to die for! And only $150! Wow! Do you know how old it is? I think you're right... any scratches on something that old just shows how loved it was.

  8. You always set such a pretty table, but I especially love today's table setting!
The dishes are all so beautiful and you coordinated everything perfectly! And that tureen is wonderful!
And I am really coveting that antique sideboard! I love it! It is so beautiful and so unique and I wouldn't touch one mark on it! I hate pristine now, it just seems cold and odd somehow, I have been spending the last few years getting rid of all my 'new' and 'perfect' furniture and filling my home with wonderfully comfortable tattered treasures!
Oh, and would I love to get my hands on yours! It's one of the most unique pieces I've ever seen. I absolutely love it! The shape of it, the curves, the details, the drawer pulls, it's all so perfect.
    Beautiful!
    All the best,
    Eileen

  21. Hi Shelia

I love Italian ceramics and have quite a few pieces myself, but I never bought a rooster pitcher...next time I go I'll make sure to pick one up.

Mambo Italiano is a fun song!

I loved seeing Mr. Precious pancakes in the post below!

  22. Shelia, I love your Italian dinnerware... it is SO neat. You need to come visit in St. Augustine because there are shops just calling your name! I can take you to somethat have neat china that could be a good friend to this. :-)

Those roosters are ADORABLE, and I like your turreen, too, and the dragon actually looks like a dolphin to me. They are sort of sea serpent looking, but I think they are supposed to be dolphins of some sort. At least that's what I thought, but I could be wrong.

I love Little Richard and the other server. Such neat pieces.

Sending you love and hoping you feel better...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

Your stories are always so sweet too!

  28. Oh your rooster jugs are just so cute, Shelia, they're like a family of 3. I love your Italina dinnerware too. I need to borrow them to have a bigger set and for a shape variation, lol! How lucky for you to find that tureen. It is really pretty. You know I used a tureen or it might be a vegetable server for a centerpiece today too. Unfortunately, the cover is broken when it arrive. BTW, I took pictures in the bathroom of Marriot's in London cause it is so pretty and I thought of you, LOL....Christine

Of course, I've always thought those rooster pitchers were so pretty, but that Italian tureen from Tues AM is gorgeous! I don't blame you for rushing to the cash register with that beauty. Don't worry...I wiped my feet before going through each room! What a beautiful home you have! I wish I had the room you have! Mine is a little Cape Cod that someday we hope to expand on but for now it will have to do. We need updating in most all the rooms except for our livingroom! Whew...that's one down and many to go!
