Monday Memes - My Incredible Hutch! :)

Hello, Dear Ones and welcome to another Monday. Hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween. We had over 100 children come by and ran out of candy at 8:30! Good thing, because I love Resse's Peanut Butter Cups if you know what I mean! :)

Well, I hope I'm not committing a Blog sin - I'm playing four memes today! I'm joining Dear Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday, Dear Sally at Smiling Sally for Blue Monday, Dear Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday and Dear Cielo at The House in the Roses for Show Off Your Cottage Monday. So after your visit with me please pop on over and check out all of the fascinating things that are happening all across the Land of Blog on this Monday.

This is my tiny incredible hutch in my breakfast room and it's my favorite play toy! I have just recently painted my walls in the kitchen and breakfast room from red to yellow! You can see the before and the after.

Now I really did love my red walls and think maybe they even look better over all than the yellow. But I love change and my walls had been red for about five years and were beginning to close in on me. That's enough! Time to change.

Here's my hutch up against the yellow walls. The yellow, Whisper Yellow by Behr, is a little deeper than it shows in these photos. I do love this color and it even makes my tiny room look a little larger. But now I'm going to have to repaint all of the creamy color of the trim and cabinets. Here you can see I've already painted the wainscoting white. I have a little health affliction that has just popped up and now I'll have to wait awhile before I can start painting again.

Now you can see I've changed out the top of my tiny hutch to hold my tureens. I like this look! And of course I had to pop a Rooster up there! :)

Here's a mosaic of the three shelves.

Ms. Hen...
Little precious Rooster creamers with their matching underplates. We bought these in Italy. I love my little Rooster creamers. Can you love little Rooster creamers? Well, you bet your goat's milk you can! :) These little dears are sitting on a folded up paper towels - why? you ask? Well I had washed them and they're made of pottery. Being the impatient one I am, I didn't want to wait until they fully dried on the bottom (the bottom's are not glazed) so I popped them up here anyway ~ therefore ~ sitting on folded up paper towels. Do you do stuff like this? :)

Here are some of the serving pieces to my dinnerware - Old Britain Castles by Johnson Brothers. See the tiny little personal creamer? I just love it! Can you...yes, you can! :) The pattern for this little tiny treasure is called 'Spode's Tower' by Copeland Spode. But it's a perfect fit with the family, don't you think?

Well, shut my mouth! I have lined the backboard of my tiny hutch with scrapbooking paper and there is some of it poking out and making me look bad! For shame. I didn't even notice till I snapped! Isn't that the way it always goes? Anyway, before I was so embarrassed, here is a platter, not the same pattern, but the same color as my dinnerware. So it works just fine. I don't know the pattern, but it's made by Churchill.

Here's another plate, doesn't go with my dinnerware, but it's the same color and I love it! I have another one of these too. This is called Myotts "Country Lane" by Staffordshire Ware.

Oh, joyness! Oh, hallelujahness! I was in my beloved Marshalls and saw this pitcher and it does go with my dinnerware. Do you want to know how much I paid for it? Well, you had better sit down - I paid a whole $2.99 for it! Can you believe it? No no Nannette, I would never lie to you!

I do believe this is a coffee server but I use it as a tea pot! It's beautiful, the same color as my dinnerware, but is not the same pattern. Do I care? Heck no! This just makes my dishes look more juicy! Don't you think? :) This is called "English Scene" by Adams, a member of the Wedgwood Group.

Now just a few snaps of Fallness that seems to be going on in my tiny incredible hutch.

I traded out my Rooster paintings and little round Rooster plates for these cutie square plates. I hung one on each side of my tiny incredible hutch. Do you like these?

Well, Dear Ones, I suppose you could say I've gone from darkness to light in my tiny breakfast room. From red to yellow and oh, I'm a happy fellow (well, gal, but 'gal' didn't rhyme!).

There you have it, Dear Ones, and again I do hope I'm not committing a Blog Sin by playing so many memes today. I'm just having so much fun and I can't help myself. So I guess I could say, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". :P

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

I come home in the morning light,
My mother says "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh,mother,dear,
We're not the fortunate ones,
And girls,
They wanna have fu-un.
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have fun.

The phone rings in the middle of the night,
My father yells "What you gonna do with your life?"
Oh,daddy,dear,
You know you're still number one,
But girls,
They wanna have fu-un,
Oh,girls,just wanna have
That's all they really want.....
Some fun....

When the working day is done,
Oh,girls,
They wanna have fu-un,
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have fun....

Girls,
They want,
Wanna have fun.
Girls,
Wanna have

Some boys take a beautiful girl,
And hide her away from the rest of the world.
I wanna be the one to walk in the sun.
Oh,girls,
They wanna have fu-un.
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have
That's all they really want.....
Some fun....

When the working day is done,
Oh,girls,
They wanna have fu-un.
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have fun...

Girls,
They want,
Wanna have fun.
Girls,
Wanna have.

They just wanna,
They just wanna.....
They just wanna,
(Oh....)
They just wanna.....
(Girls just wanna have fun...)
Oh...

Girls just wanna have fu-un...
They just wanna,
They just wanna....
They just wanna,
They just wanna....
(Oh...)
They just wanna...
(They just wanna have fun...)
Girls just wanna have fu-un...

When the workin',
When the working day is done.
Oh,when the working day is done,
Oh,girls...
Girls,
Just wanna have fu-un...

They just wanna,
They just wanna....
They just wanna,
They just wanna have fun...

Girls just wanna have fu-un..
They just wanna,
They just wanna....
They just wanna,
They just wanna....
(Have fun..)

They just wanna,
(Girls wanna have fun)
They just wanna....
Oh,girls...
(Wanna have fun....)
Girls just wanna have fu-un.

When the workin',
When the working day is done.
Oh,when the working day is done,
Oh,girls,
Girls just wanna have fu-un.

They just wanna,
They just wanna....
(Oh,girls...)
They just wanna,
(Have fun....)
Oh,girls..
Girls just wanna have fu-un

They just wanna,
They just wanna...
When the working day is done...

  2. Hi Shelia...Happy Day After Halloween to you! Change is good isn't it...love your yellow walls and the hutch is beautiful against them! Such pretty, pretty mosiacs! What a lovely turren collection. You could have a soup part like Artie did...remember his? :-) Your transferware is gorgeous...love that you can mix the patterns and it looks even better that way! What a steal on your pitcher...WOW! I hope whatever health issue you are confronting is easily fixable. Hugs to you,
    Susan

  3. Hi Sheila! Hope you had a great Halloween. Isn't it fabulous the way a can of paint can transform a space? I love your transferware. Have a great week!

  4. Mornin' Shelia, I love the yellow paint. Our upstairs is painted that color and it's very calming and pretty. Your hutch is so sweet. I have one very similar of Mama's that is maple. I would love to finish it a pretty color like yours. What a grand idea to line the shelves with scrapbooking paper. I love your dishes and the many bargains you have been able to find. Those rooster plates are nice on either side of the cabinet - just the right pop on that wall and I do like the white trim with the yellow. Wishing you a good day and a very nice week. Thanks for sharing all these great pics.

  5. Happy November, Sheila!

I love the yellow, too...your red walls were beautiful, but I'm a light person, so yellow is it for me. I once painted my living room and dining room red..loved it...for about 3 months!

Love all your beautiful china...looks so pretty on your sweet hutch.

And I love that song...its so cute...thanks for putting the words up for us to read...now we can sing along with you and Cindy!

    God bless,
    Mary

  6. Shelia, Good Morning! I'm still asleep after this weekend. WHEW! Glad it is over. LOL! Thank goodness for Daylight Savings Time when we "fall back."

I really like your new walls (I have yellow, too). I think they are pretty, but like you, I do like the red, too. I just always like to see what you've done.

And I love the transferware. So neat! I can't believe you got that pitcher for $2.99. Did I read that right??? Marshall's and the Maxx are two of my fave stores, and they can be veeeeeeery dangerous with the lure of shiny objects.

I need to learn to do mosaics with you. I like to take lots of pictures and usually have so many that I think they would be best in groups. I tried the other meme last week, but I'm back to my one trick pony with Sally and my blue (which seems to be the color of choice for many things in my house). I find that when I do several memes, I wear myself out. Getting old, I guess. LOL! Love Susan's Met Monday, but I always forget to take the befores and hate to disappoint with a bunch of afters. ;-)

    Love to you...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  7. While I really liked the red, the yellow makes much more of a statement for the hutch, sweetpea!! Just gorgeous. I painted a kitchen yellow once and the pine cabinets just dazzled. I would never have thought yellow could be so beautiful on a wall but it was, chickee!!

  10. Shelia~~

The yellow wall color is beautiful. I wrote the color down because I am doing our loft and guest room at the lake in yellow and I want a nice, soft shade. And we prefer Behr paint. The color makes your hutch pop a bit more. Love it!!

Love the Old Britain Castles. It will take me forever to find a whole set, but my husband was told that the newer stuff is not made as well as before Johnson Bros sold out to Wedgwood. So you have some mighty good stuff there. And the pitcher is gorgeous. Great deal. I love to mix and match. People will be oohing and ahhing that they never thought of that!!

I love your tiny little chickadees and the plates below...my heart just sped up a notch when I saw them. I am not big on whimsy, but I love cute little birdies!!

I hope you feel better soon!!

    xoxo

  19. Thank you so much for your kind comment on my post about Kathleen King’s Memory Mitten Ministry! I just want to clarify that it is not I who is to be commended! It is Kathleen, a wonderful young wife and mother who has helped many recapture their memories after the loss of a loved one. It is her ministry that so stirred me that I wanted to write about it and share it with others!

Have a great and beautiful Sunday! Coralie

  20. Hello Shelia! ANd now that Halloween is over, it is officially "The Holidays"! YAY! I just LOVE this time of year!!
Boy, do I understand about the need for a change. I would kill to paint my entry/living/downstairs hall/stairs but it is 2 1/2 stories tall - I can't do it - and I see dollars signs flying out the window to hire someone. So - it remains the faux paint of gold and cream that it is - that I am sooooo sick of.
Maybe if I stopped traveling all around the country to meet all my bloggy friends, I'd have enough to pay a painter - what do you think? LOL.
I've also met Ginger from the Gingerbread Shed up in Utah. And next week while I am in Michigan, Shelley from Building a Log Cabin and I are going to meet up! I am so excited!!! this is just way too fun!
When I am in Texas - I am soooo coming to your house to meet you! And Brenda from Cozy Little House too!
Love your hutch, and I do like the yellow. You will have a nice and bright winter season.
Have a wonderful day! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!! YAY!
    Hugs. Karen

  22. Gosh, Shelia. It all looks beautiful. You have such lovely things.

My walls have been a soft yellow for years, and I don't think I will ever tire of it. Yellow is my favorite color.

I definitely think no blog rules have been broken. You covered Monday quite well.

You need to come play Pink Saturday again sometime. We miss your fun and smiles.

Take care of yourself, my dear sister. Do you need me to come over? ;-)

  49. Hi Sheila, I am at my daughter's home in Jacksonville, FL and spending the whole evening on my computer. I am loving it!!! I will be here for a week and I can play on my computer all day and all night if I want to. Actually it IS late and I am going to bed but I wanted to say hello to you first.

First I think you should play along with as many events as you want to. I am doing two tomorrow. Sally's and Cielo's. Fun is the key word.

I love your hutch and your yellow walls. The lighter walls make a great contrast. The hutch just looks beautiful in every way. The new look is festive and so pretty. I adore your square plates and your soup tureens with the rooster on top. I do love your dishes. My daughter has some in her kitchen on display. I will post it on Foodie Friday. Her walls are red. I helped her decorate her kitchen and breakfast room a couple of years ago. I did share a small part of her breakfast room before.

Next weekend when Bill comes to FL for another Gator game we will pick up our new puppy on our way home on Sunday. She is so adorable Sheila.

I better say good night now. See you tomorrow.

    Love xoxo, Jeanne

  79. Lovely, lovely. The transferware are my favourite. I remember having a full set back in the 70s, but got rid of them by the 80s...now they are really collectable. I can't believe the deal you got on the coffee pot!! Good for you :o)

  94. Hi Sheila, I came back to tell you I am staying with my daughter in Fl. I did stay in that sweet room when I helped my sisters move their antique business to a new location. That was in Atlanta. I am glad you loved that room too. My sister also has a room in the theme of violets. So charming and pretty all in wicker (white). One day I will share that guest room too. The violet pattern is Laura Ashley. She does have beautiful antiques in there too. She sells antiques and has the opportunity to find great things. Lucky girl!!!

Thank you for your visit I always love to read your comments.

    Love, Jeanne

  97. I Sheila that dinnerware is gorgeous! The color on the walls is such a nice change. The eye goes more to the lovely dinnerware being that the color is soft and silent and the focus is not on the walls anymore.

  105. Hi Sheila, Great post! I love your mosaics! I haven't tried any of those in a long time. Love, Love, Love all of your pieces on your hutch! No wonder it is your favorite play place! LOL! You have such a knack for displaying and creating beautiful vignettes! The creamy yellow walls are really pretty, too!

Thank you so much for coming by and checking on me yesterday! The house tour is this Friday, and I will be glad when it gets here! Things are finally coming together, so I am feeling much better about it! I came to the conclusion Sunday, that everyone that comes through my doors has a house too, and not everything is perfect, so maybe they will be sympathtic and overlook my flaws as well! LOL!

Hope your daughter and "grandchild" are doing well! They've been on my mind and in my prayers! ~hugs, Rhonda

  106. Wow Shelia, I like your walls both ways. I love red and yellow and have quite a bit in my home. Love all the roosters, plates, pitchers and all the loveliness going on in your hutch. Amazing what you are able to pull off with your piece of furniture. Can't wait to see what you do for Christmas!

  107. Hi Sheila! Thanks for stopping by my place and it's ok you didn't take the award. It gets a little overwhelming I am sure to keep up with. I hardly ever get any so it was exciting for me! Love, Love, Love, your new hutch redo. You are one clever girl and every time I come to your place I feel right at home. That pitcher you got for 2.99 just blew me away! That's MY kind of bargain! You are such a natural at decorating and making your home so warm and inviting. The yellow really lightens things up and it will grow on you. The red makes quite a statement but you are right...after 5 years, you were ready for a change. Nice job with the painting and the hutch decoration. I had to laugh about the scrapbook paper...I do that too! I do my light switches and I line my cupboards with it! And yes!!...us girls just wanna have fun....I am still singing that in my head...sorry.:)

  109. I love all your red & white china. I'm like you. I like the different patterns and I enjoy blending it together.

Your breakfast room looks really pretty with the new yellow paint and I love your hutch with the open shelves.

  110. LOVE that hutch and EVERYTHING on it!!! I went from red to yellow recently too in my kitchen. I don't regret it, but I do find myself looking at old pics and missing the red so I know what you mean. The red is more dramatic and has more of a wow factor. But, I love how the yellow make a room brighter so I am sticking with it at least for now. You have a wonderful decorating style and so many of your things would go in my house too. Have a great day!

Well almost all my walls are yellow so I love your choice of color!

Your hutch is looking so pretty! You know I love all that red transferware! Aren't Marshalls and TJ Maxx just the best places for dishes!! So inexpensive and they always have something pretty. I like your little hutch - it's looking beautiful!

  114. Shelia darling, I too wish that you lived close by so that we could take tea together, may be sometime in the future!! Darling, I loved the red walls , but I must say I fancy the yellow colour now. It brings out the beauty if your hutch and the lovely dishes you have so beautifully displayed. I am a big fan of Johnson Brothers dishes and yours I must say are simply divine. Enjoy the new look and all of your lovelies in good health.

  115. Hi there, Miss Perky!

I haven't had a chance to visit blogs in a while, but I am indulging myself today, and yours is such fun as always. I like the changes you have made, although the red walls were wonderful, and I love your "English Pink" display. This stuff is so HOT right now!

I hope the health issue goes away soon.

Your hutch looks so pretty, and I spotted those square rooster plates in the second picture and knew I loved those. I be the kitchen feels a lot brighter with the pretty yellow walls.
