Deck the Halls

Hello, Dear Ones! I truly hope you all had the most wonderful Thanksgiving! We sure did at our house. We ate and ate and then ate a little more! :) But we were ever so thankful!

I know you all are getting out your decorations for Christmas to make your home look so pretty and festive. Well, I have started decorating...got two trees up and Mr. Precious has put some tiny lights outside. But that's all I've been able to do.

I've got a couple of really busy days coming up and won't be able to start on my serious Christmas decorating until the end of the week so I thought I would show you a couple of pictures from my church. Last Sunday afternoon a group of us met and decked the halls! We put up the tree and I think it's so pretty!

This is a large Nativity of mine that I always bring to church each year. I like to share! :) We all enjoy it until our Christmas Eve service then I take it home and put it under our tree. Can you see it is sitting upon the piano? This is where I sit each Sunday and play my note songs for church and to God. I love to play the piano and I feel this is my gift each week to give back to God for all He does for me.

Well, I'll be back in a few days and maybe then I can show you some Christmas around my house.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan's tyranny
From depths of Hell Thy people save
And give them victory o'er the grave
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Key of David, come,
And open wide our heavenly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to misery.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, O come, Thou Lord of might,
Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height,
In ancient times did'st give the Law,
In cloud, and majesty and awe.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

  4. Hi sheila, the tree is gorgeous. Your Nativity is so special. Your church is very lucky that you share it with them. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Shingles aren't easy to get over. Mr. P had a bout with them about 8 years ago and was quite miserable with them.. I'll be saying extra prayers for you darling..

  10. Oh I so remember the days of decorating the church! The tree is lovely. I should take a pic of ours. And the nativity is beautiful. At one of our churches we had a huge hand carved nativity that sat on the communion table. It was gorgeous!

  13. Thank you for sharing you church decorations! I can just see you sitting there at the piano every Sunday! I was the worship committee chairman and headed up the altar guild at our church years ago! Yesterday was the first day of Advent and we had our tree up but not decorated! I plan on doing a post on our Chrismon tree! God Bless! Lauralu :)

  20. That's a beautiful nativity set. I remember last year how you struggled with your floor project and being unable to decorate. So, I just know you will have a double good time this year. Take care, Sally

  22. I like that the wise men are back from (and still traveling to) the manger. I'm sure everyone appreciates your gifts of beauty and talent.

  23. I love what you shared today, especially about sharing your notesongs for church. I play the piano, too, and I know what you're talking about. There's something special to give back from the talent you've been given. And I loved your Nativity. I have a really busy week, followed by an even busier weekend, so I'm decorating here a little - there a little. It will get done but I'm doing a much simpler decor this year. The sights and sounds of Christmas always touch my heart - can't wait to see more of yours.
    ~Adrienne~

P.S. - I shared this wonderful, old song on my blog yesterday.

  26. It's beautiful Shelia!

We have a pretty good start here, but it seems the flu has come to visit. I even had the shot, last month!! It may just be a cold, but it sure has put a damper on the decorating. I sort of ran out of steam.

Looking forward to seeing your beautiful home all done up.

    Feel better soon!

  27. Shelia~ How sweet of you to share your lovely nativity with your church friends. Did you trim that pretty tree too?
I had a holiday Bazaar on Saturday, so that kept me from trimming my tree. I'm hopin' we can get to decorating this weekend.
My son and DIL stayed in Seattle for Thanksgiving. This was the first year they cooked dinner for her family.
We enjoyed the tryptophan playoffs with my youngest son (who lives up the street in our condo).
You know I'll be back to see your house and table all dolled up.

    Sweet Holiday Wishes,
    Sara

  28. The tree looks wonderful and I love the nativity. I've become a bit of a nativity collector. I just picked up another old one today at a local vintage store. I had to have my mammogram, so this was my reward :-) I love the song too. I just wanted to sing along as I was reading the words.
    Blessings,
    Marica

Since I hurt my hand and wrist 2 weeks ago, I don't know how much decorating or anything, I'll get done around here.
