Changes to Suit My Mood

Before I get to my post today, I would love to ask you to vote for me at Paula Grace Designs. I have entered her giveaway and would love it if you would pop over and vote for me. I'm the second one! Thank you, Dear Ones!

Hello Dear Ones and welcome to Monday Memes! I'm joining Mosaic Monday hosted by our Dear Mary at Little Red House, Blue Monday hosted by our Dear Sally at Smiling Sally and Met Monday hosted by our Dear Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. So after you visit me, please pop on over and check out all of the fascinating things that are happening all across the Land of Blog on this Monday. I've also been invited to join our most beautiful Cielo at The House in the Roses with her 'Show Off Your Cottage Monday'. So go pop in to see her lovely blog and the other participants showing their homes. Isn't this so much fun?

Now I must tell you, Dear Ones, I've been very busy here at Note Songs. Instead of Spring Fever I think I have Fallen Fever - I've been wanting to change stuff! So let me show you what I've been up to.

See this mess? Now you know I have a disease and just can't help myself - I'm a dishaholic! I have dishes all over the place and have just packed this little bookcase in my breakfast room plumb full of dishes and more dishes! More than full, Dear Ones, packed and cluttered! Yes! and you thought I was as neat as a pin, didn't you? You don't have to answer that! :)

Well, I watch Mission Organization on HGTV and before they can get a space organized - they take everything out! That's just what I did! See? Empty and nekked (Texan for naked). This is an olden Barrister Bookshelf/Lawyer Bookcase Mr. Precious brought home to me many moons ago. It was probably built around the 1940s. If anyone knows for sure, you can correct me.

So I began to shuffle, pull out and pull down, arrange and prettify (to me, anyway) my olden bookcase. Ta Dah!!!

I decided I'd have no more dishes in this piece and put in my cookbooks with some chickens and roosters! I think I like this now! What do you think?

It's rather hard to take a clear photo through those glass doors so I'll just open them up for you to see.

Much better, don't you think? I can see clearly now the rain is gone! Oh, I'm just singing to you! Ignore me! Well, don't actually ignore me, just bare with me! :)

This is the top shelf and I must tell you my little chicks are just having the best of times in here!

Second shelf ~ more content chicks along with my cookbooks. I'm loving this!

Bottom shelf. The first photo in this mosaic shows a stack of those little cookbooks from churches and schools (which are the best tried and true recipes, I think) and I use these the most but they're not really pretty! You know you have some of these too. Then more cluck clucks! I'll bet you're thinking, 'Shelia must really be a great cook with all of these cookbooks!' Naw, I just cook pretty simple around here, but I do love my cook books and read them like novels! :)

I kept going and arranged the top of my olden shelf - filled with Fallness! I just love being Fallen!

I found these cute little Fallen blocks and added my tiny little Pie Bird and some Fallen leaves.

Then borrowed my Fallen cloche from the kitchen.

Last but certainly not least is my King of the Kitchen, Mr. Wonderful Glorious Rooster!

Also redid my wall shelf. Do you like my changes? I sure hope so. I must tell you, I've already made a change here. I didn't even notice until I looked at my picture above - but you don't stack your chickens on top of each other! I did that! Notice the first and second shelves - stacked chickens! Oh, for shame. Well, don't shoot me because I've already flipped the second shelf and it looks so much better. Aww. I'll show you how it looks another time.

Do you notice anything else that is different? No no Nannette ~ not the messy background, I told you I've been busy! You have to make a mess to make pretty! :) Do you notice anything like maybe my wall color? Like maybe it's not red anymore? Like maybe I've been really busy? Like maybe I've been...

Painting! Yes, Dear Ones, I've been painting my tiny socks off. Well, not that I wear socks, I'm usually bare foot! Yes, I'm painting my red walls yellow and I'm painting all the yucky creaminess of trim to bright white! I'll have to show it all to you down the road ~ I'm far from being finished. Let's see, I'm thinking of that old song by Crystal Gayle 'Don't It Make My Red Walls Yellow?' Wasn't that a song? Yep, I'm sure it was or was it...oh, never mind. ;)

Thanks for joining me today for Mosaic Monday, Blue Monday and Met Monday!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue

I don't know when I've been so blue
Don't know what's come over you
You've found someone new
And don't it make my brown eyes blue

I'll be fine when you're gone
I'll just cry all night long
Say it isn't true
And don't it make my brown eyes blue

Tell me no secrets, tell me some lies
Give me no reasons, give me alibis
Tell me you love me and don't let me cry
Say anything but don't say goodbye

I didn't mean to treat you bad
Didn't know just what I had
But honey now I do
And don't it make my brown eyes
Don't it make my brown eyes
Don't it make my brown eyes blue
~sung by Crystal Gayle

  1. Oh my, Miss Sheila, you have been busy. Glad you changed the second shelf around - we wouldn't want chickens stacked upon each other. Probably only you noticed that. Looks great. Looking forward to seeing your new paint job in ALL of it's glory. Have a great week. Sally

  3. Oh, oh Shelia...I am so inspired by your lovely bookcase. I also have a bookcase (not exactly like yours) in my breakfast nook. Because of your inspiration, I'm feeling the urge to fill mine with recipe books. It's truly an idea that makes sense - recipe books near where people eat!

  21. Hi Shelia! I love your roosters and cookbooks on your Fallen bookcase! You are so right about those little church/school cookbooks! People usualy have to put their names with their recipes so they know you can call them up and give them a piece of your mind if they are not good!! lol And thanks for the idea about my whatsit. I do believe you are right! That would explain the shape and the lack of candle wax. Now I will be on the lookout for little hurricane/ votive thingys! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie

What did you do with the china that was in them? I have the exact barrister's case in my kitchen, but I'm not showing pix of my shelves! Yours may look like mine before long (the bottom shelf has doll house furniture set up like a few rooms, and the grandchildren play house on that shelf all of the time. I only put the glass door down when company is coming! laurie

  64. It does looks great and "freshly arranged!" I wish I could stop decorating one of these days. I think it's an addiction too! I'd love to have that Barristers bookcase. Say, do your unsuspecting chickens know that they are perched on, ye gads! Chicken cookbooks? Oh my! Maybe they can't read. I love red so, but have never been able to have my walls painted red. Looks very crisp and neat now, Shelia!

  86. Oh God Sheila you are a hoot! The first order of business when I came here was to vote for you! I voted and it told me you were at 19%...so I thought...we can't have that! She MUST win this thing...so I voted again! I was prepared to vote until they wouldn't let me do it again...kind of like American Idol I guess...not that I ever voted on that show...but you know what I mean? Well...this is a very clever site and they only let you vote once I guess. I was not allowed any more...that I can see? I tried Sheila!! I gave it the good ol Yankee try! Now I love that bookcase redo. I have the same antique bookcase with all of it's labels intact too. I inherited it from my folks. They are from the 1920's I think? Great job on filling it ...it looks fabulous and can't wait to see the new painted look too. Hope you win even if I can't cheat to help you..."wink"

  88. Hi Sheila
Your changes look great. Your bookcase is such a special piece of furniture and I love how you have it arranged. Isn't it good to have a change around now and then? Good luck with your painting. We have just gone the opposite way to you because after years of white walls we have just added some color and it's taking a bit of getting used to! I really enjoyed your previous post too. Your fallness is so beautiful. Thanks for the tour.

  90. Hello dear Sheila, I am sorry I missed your last couple of posts. company has me overwhelmed. Computer time is just not happening. My company goes home Thursday. That will be 18 days of company with a two day break in the middle. Whew. I have been cooking my tiny hands off. Really, my hands are not tiny but they have been working very hard. Laughing.

Now the important part!!! I voted for you. Love your entry. How fun to join the contest. I didn't know about it.

Your barrister bookcase looks great. I do love the new look and the area around it. Good job. Of course chickens and hens always make me smile. And now your cookbooks are all organized. I wish mine were. I love those church cookbooks too. I have several. What I really love is the recipes with my aunts and cousins names on them. Lots of people I love from MI. have given me their church cookbooks as gifts. I treasure them but they are not pretty, I agree.

I better get busy with tomorrow's post. My cousin's schnauzer will be the lead into my post. Guess what her name is...Chloe.

    Love ya...Jeanne
