North To Alaska

Hello, Dear Ones! I wanted to share with you my latest trip and hopefully my last trip for some time! :) We went on an Alaskan cruise and it was wonderful! We took the same cruise 20 years ago and had always wanted to do it again and we got the chance!

I'm going to post for the entire week in this post...Blue Monday ~ blue is everywhere Dear Sally. Met Monday ~ me! Being transformed from place to place Dear Susan ( I know, I'm fudging a bit! ). Foodie Friday ~ you can see some of the delicious food I did not prepare but I sure did devour it Dear Gollum! Pink Saturday - Pink is in the flowers and DD's shirt Dear Beverly! :)

Is this legal in the Land of Blog to post once for the entire week? Well, I think it is! :)

We left from Seattle, Washington. I must tell you ~ it has been so hot in Texas and it was a wonderful change to have cooler weather!

We were on the MS Amsterdam, Holland American Cruise line. This is a much smaller ship than what we've sailed on before, but a very lovely ship!

Now I'd like to tell you a little story and you know how I love to tell you little stories...We kept seeing 'dam ship' on t-shirts, mugs, just all kinds of items. At first I thought, that's a little vulgar and it's spelled incorrectly! Then I understood why 'dam' was written on everything! I realized it was okay to say 'dam ship'! All the ships in the Holland American fleet have 'dam' in their tiny names...Amsterdam, Norderdam, Oosterdam, etc. Cute huh? I know the spelling isn't what you think it should be...but it's the way it's spelled in the names. Those 'dam' ships! :)

Mr. Precious and I took our Dear Daughter and Son-in-law along. It was their first cruise. We all sailed off with excitement (did I tell you I'm going to be a grandmother?)! See how we're all smiling our tiny faces off?

If you've been following my blog you know we've just received the news that our Dear Daughter is going to have a baby! We're thrilled! She is due in March and we just couldn't keep from smiling! She and hubby have been married eleven years! Move over granddog baby! :) Just look at that smile on Mr. Precious' face! That says it all! :)

We had a Veranda Suite. Mr. Precious just has to have a tiny balcony! :) I like it too! We had the smallest little bathtub! Even in all my shortness, I had to angle just right to get out of it! :P Do you see me snapping for you in the picture on the bottom right? Hello, Dear Ones!

Gorgeous flowers all over the ship! Real ones, I know because I touched them. I always must touch the flowers.

If you've been on a cruise, you know there is always food! All of the food was wonderful! Here's Mr. Precious and me looking ridiculous in our chef hats. I ate my share of all the lovely tasty food...and ate and ate and ate...

Alaskan views...

Lovely eagle...not in the wild, but injured and being taken care of and posing for me! Then a sweet little lady owl - she was about eight inches high. Isn't she cute! That's the back of a hawk. He didn't want me to see his tiny face! What a little booger! :)

Walks in the Forrest, salmon swimming upstream and a tiny mushroom!

Hubbard Glacier...so lovely and so cool!! We also viewed a whale flopping around in the water and spraying his little water pipe up in the air and little sea otters playing on the ice.

Beautiful starfish...fat and sassy!

More views...

God painted us quite a few lovely pictures!

On the streets and shopping. We always have time for a little silliness! Between silly me and silly Dear Daughter what is my Dear Grandbaby to be gonna be like?! Silly, I hope! :)
Is this moose hat me or what? :) Do you remember.."Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat! Oops, wrong hat!" I know, I know, I'm showing my age. If you're a young one you probably didn't get it!

Our ports of call were Sitka, Juneau, Ketchican and Victoria Island. We arrived after dark at Victoria and we just walked around a bit and I didn't take any pictures. I was waving my tiny dainty hand off to all of my Canadian friends!

We had a great time but how wonderful it feels to finally be home. Hope you've enjoyed seeing a bit of my cruise. Shoot! We didn't see Sarah Palin! :) Did I tell you I'm going to be a grandmother?? :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

North To Alaska

Way up north, (North To Alaska.)
Way up north, (North To Alaska.)
North to Alaska,
They're goin' North, the rush is on.
North to Alaska,
They're goin' North, the rush is on.

Big Sam left Seattle in the year of '92,
With George Pratt, his partner, and brother, Billy, too.
They crossed the Yukon River and found the bonanza gold.
Below that old white mountain just a little south-east of Nome.

Sam crossed the majestic mountains to the valleys far below.
He talked to his team of huskies as he mushed on through the snow.
With the northern lights a-running wild in the land of the midnight sun,
Yes, Sam McCord was a mighty man in the year of nineteen-one.

Where the river is winding,
Big nuggets they're finding.
North to Alaska,
They're goin' North, the rush is on.

Way up north, (North To Alaska.)
Way up north, (North To Alaska.)
North to Alaska,
They're goin' North, the rush is on.
North to Alaska,
They're goin' North, the rush is on.

George turned to Sam with his gold in his hand,
Said: "Sam you're a-lookin'at a lonely, lonely man.
"I'd trade all the gold that's buried in this land,
"For one small band of gold to place on sweet little Ginnie's hand.

"'Cos a man needs a woman to love him all the time.
"Remember, Sam, a true love is so hard to find.
"I'd build for my Ginnie, a honeymoon home.
"Below that old white mountain just a little south-east of Nome."

Where the river is winding,
Big nuggets they're finding.
North to Alaska,
They're goin' North, the rush is on.
North to Alaska,
They're goin' North, the rush is on.

Way up north, (North To Alaska.)
Way up north, (North To Alaska.)
Way up north, (North To Alaska.)
