There you have it, Dear Ones. A simple project you can all achieve with just a little cash. Heck, save your cash and use your credit card! You can spend more on this project if you buy these lovely little dishes elsewhere! But remember, Marshalls and Ross are a project gal's best friend. Don't you agree?
No credit cards were seriously hurt by the making of this project and I saved my tiny dollar bills to buy a milkshake! A gal needs nourishment after such an intense project as this! :)
Make your husband happy like I make my Mr. Precious happy - save him some money! And if you hide, um, I mean gently put away your dishes until a later time, when you hubby says, "Honey, where did these dishes come from?" Your tiny reply will be, "These old things! I've had them quite a long time!"
Now go on out to Marshalls and save your hubby some money! ;)
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song~
If you've got the money I've got the time
We'll go honky tonkin' and we'll have a time
We'll make all the night spots dance drink beer and wine
If you've got the money honey I've got the time
There ain't no use to tarry so let's start out tonight
We'll spread joy oh boy oh boy and we'll spread it right
We'll have more fun baby all way down the line
If you've got the money honey I've got the time
If you've got the money I've got the time
We'll go honky tonkin' and we'll have a time
Bring along your Cadillac leave my old wreck behind
If you've got the money honey I've got the time
Yes we'll go honky tonkin' make every club in town
We'll go to the park where it's dark we won't fool around
But if you run short of money I'll run short of time
Cause you with no more money honey I've no more time
If you've got the money I've got the time
We'll go honky tonkin' and we'll have a time
We'll make all the night spots dance drink beer and wine
If you've got the money honey I've got the time

You are so funny! I do the same thing with clothes...just don't tell my hubby.
ReplyDeletesheila,
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious! Love your saving money idea and hubby should be proud! hehe Cindy
Great work, Shelia!!
ReplyDeleteMarshalls at the lake didn't have those dishes...or you can bet I would have saved J lots of money, while we were there!! I did find some pretty nifty red square salad plates with a cherry blossom twig or something like that, in white. I thought they would be great with some of my white dishes. Of course they came home with me. Alas, that was the only money I saved, though!
Hi Shelia! Great plates, and you have done so well saving money, Mr. Precious should be proud!
ReplyDeleteLove the colorful, spring-time dishes! Can't wait to see your table all decorated with these! Tell your Mom hello and hope you all have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI am sure Mr. Precious has given up on that receipt thing by now! Just tell him you are doing your part to boost the economy--we all appreciate it! :)
ReplyDeleteShelia, Love those dishes.Just tell Hubby that it's part of the stimulus package. Yep, you my dear one are helping the economy. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteKathleen
Oh Shelia...I have saved my husband millions over the years. And I tell him ALL the time how fortunate he is to have such a savvy shopper! I Know he is so grateful...in fact, I may just have to save him some more money real soon!!
ReplyDeleteOh!! That's my type of project - very little effort expended - just walk into the store, whip the card out, and walk out again!! Enjoy your new dishes. Sally
ReplyDeletePerfect springy dishes and you couldn't pass up those deals!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI am reeeeeealy laughing out loud! This sounds a little too familiar! I save my dh money the exact same way! But you put it into words so much better than I could have! Love your new dishes. laurie
ReplyDeleteI definitely learned a few things from you tonite! I will from now on consider my crazy spending habits actual money saving adventures for my dear husband!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, we do not have Ross up here in the Midwest. What is it like?? Is it part owned by TJ Maxx or Marshalls? I am soooo curious about this store!!!
xoxo

I like the way you think! That is even a project that I'm pretty sure I can handle!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, love those dishes Sheila ! You knew I would didn't ya ? :)
ReplyDeleteHi there, Shelia! Well...this is a projsct at which I have become rather accomplished without a whole lot of training! Hmmm...I am now wondering if it can be classified as an Olympic event? I had better get serious...just think how good I could be with a little more effort!! Hope you had a great weekend...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeletePS...Gorgeous plates!!
Oh Shelia...I loved these hints. And I always hide, I mean wash my dishes and put them away neatly...so there you have it. I am doing things right! :)
ReplyDeleteI just bought a set of cherry dishes..just so cute..but..for some reason I am having buyers regrets...do you ever do that? Jump right in and get something...and can't reverse it. Ah well...these dishes better not be minus any cherries...or I am gonna just plain come unglued!
I'm still lamenting over my loss of all those dots. 24+ just on two sides of that baking dish. But still...I love it. So what the heck and I saved Mr. Wsprs money by NOT sending it back plus I got a $5 refund!! :)
Shelia...thank you so much for the sweet comment on my last post. I love you for that!!
Mona
Oh I am so with you in that I've got this saving my hubby money thing down pat. lol Love the dishes, they're gorgeous. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLOL You are too funny...love this Met Monday project...I am a master at this...have had lots of experience. And guess what, I bought those same dishes about a week ago, too! :-) I didn't get the dinner plates, but I bought the chargers and the dessert/salad ones. They are just some spring times...I loved the colors! And the price...wow...couldn't beat it with a stick!
ReplyDeleteShelia, I saw this and fell in love, but I didn't get them. NOW I wish I had so we could be twins! LOL! I absolutely thought they were the cutest things EVER! And they are Spode. Glad you got them, Shelady!
ReplyDeleteXO,
SHeila :=)
You are so funny! And quite the shopper, great deal on the dishes-they're beautiful.
ReplyDeleteShelia, your post just makes me smile. So cute and funny. Great plates and chargers! Linda

ReplyDeleteCute dishes, and I do like that song.
ReplyDeleteThose dishes are adorable! And I'm so impressed with the way you come right home and hide...I mean tuck your new dishes away! I do that too!

I had to laugh - it strikes close to home!!! My DD got some of the Spode Buttercup Faire like this last summer. She was only 17 and used some of her babysitting cash. I think we have a dishaholic in training!!! LOVE the Emma's Garden - good find. :D Jewel
ReplyDeleteGreat dishes and love your humor to start my week off with a SMILE!
ReplyDeleteJoyce
Heeheeheeeeeeeee... you're very squirrely putting those dishes away as soon as you get home. 'Cause you're right. Once hubby sees them you CAN say you've had them for "quite a while". That's not a lie!
ReplyDeleteJustiney :o )
You are too funny! I do the same thing, act like stuff has been here forever.
ReplyDeleteWhat cute plates!
~Michell
Boy, Shelia.... I like the way you think! Those are strikingly pretty. What a great project and then to end it all with a milkshake...shoot, I'd be in hog heaven!
ReplyDeleteYou are crackin me up this morning girlie!! Those cute little dishes are to die for!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to save your tiny dollars to buy yourself a milkshake. As for me I could spend a major part of my day sucking down an extra thick chocolate malt. YUMMO!!!
Oh goody, goody, I can't wait to start this project!!! The only problem is that it is still to early here, they aren't opened yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the "how to" today!
Hugs, Bridget
OMG...you are such a hoot Sheila! What a riot reading about hiding the loot and your shopping spree! The plates are lovely and I enjoy Marshalls too. We actually have one locally I have not been to in a while. One of my favorites around here is Mardens. They sell buyouts from big name companies...the items may be slightly irregular and sometimes nothing is wrong with them. I could be a Mardins junkie if I allowed myself. I have actually thought about getting a part time job there just so I could check the stuff out on the truck when it comes it before the shoppers!
ReplyDeleteI love that you hid...I mean put away everything. Those dishes are great. And Spode, what a deal! Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteLOL Good morning Shelia. I just loved your post. You are a great little shopper and your dishes are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI like how you think!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to go out and buy everything I've been coveting and hide it away till it's time for the "this old thing" reveal :-)
Thanks for your kind comment on my virtual kitchen post. I hope I get the kitchen of my dreams too!!
Kelly @ DesignTies
Oh Sheila - I DO love you! And your dishes too! I "save" money all the time too! I live within walking distance of a Marshalls -- it's a beautiful (and scary) thing! LOL
ReplyDeleteSheila: I don't know why our husbands don't appreciate all the money we save them! I mean it is just boundless how much we actually save them!
ReplyDeleteI love these dishes and you did such a good job "saving"!
Lou Cinda :)
Oh, my dear Sheila...you have got to be the CUTEST little Southern gal ....EVER !! You bring a smile to me and I laughed out loud when you "hid....uh....put them away" cause I've done it sooooooo much!!
ReplyDeleteLove those dishes....no matter how you paid for 'em!!
xo bj
Those are darling.I do so hope you do a TT with this this wek.Are they going to be cute or what?
ReplyDeleteMy Mom and I used to do that with my Dad.I don't know if he ever caught on.But...we would buy me some new clothes and hang them in the closet for a few days. Then,of course get them out and he would always say,'new dress?".I would say,oh Dad you always say that,I've had this awhile".Ann
I am stopping by via BNOTP. Love the dishes!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia! I love your post. I too believe in saving my hubby money! I told my daughter I never lie to your dad about what I spent...but I don't offer any information either! Hahaha. Don't you love dishes. I too am crazy over them and love the ones you got. But....I think you are going to have to go back...and get some gorgeous placemats, tablecloths, napkins, centerpieces....after all you might need something to go with those wonderful dishes. Tell your hubby I am just trying to help!!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Debbie
Shelia, you are too funny!
ReplyDeleteI do love your plates...woweeeee!

ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I read your posts on your vacation with your daughter and SIL and it you had such a lovely place for dinner and visiting. I knew you were going to take a little break and just get away. You needed that...it looks like you had such fun. The pics are lovely...
I sure wish we had a Marshalls in Canada. We don't.. :o( but sometimes I do get there when I'm in the states...which I'll be doing again next month.
I especially love your idea of saving and look you still came ahead with such wonderful dishes and chargers and you had money left in your pocket...and not even on your card! Mr. Precious will be so proud of you.
Thank you for sharing.
have a lovely day
Judi
Sheila, you are darling and hillarious! Thank you so much for thinking of such fun ways to save our husbands money. I almost saved mine some yesterday at Ross, but darn, I listened to that "other voice" instead. If I had seen your Spode dishes I would have listened to the more fun voice!!! I too, love, love dishes. My sweet 95 year-old Grandma just gave me a darling set of some of hers, so I guess I am okay. Vist our "Look What I got" page if you would like to see mine!
ReplyDeleteMermaid Debbie
I am going to go and do a metamorphosis on some plates right now!

Well, I'm sick...just sick. I had those dishes in my buggy. I loved them...adored them...and then talked myself out of them. Well, I'm just in a real snit now seeing them. They are so beautiful. I'm just kicking myself.
