Blues and Mets and Divas, oh my!

Blues and Mets and Divas, oh my!
Blues and Mets and Divas, oh my!

Today's post is filled with wonderment for you, my little pretties! Don't be scared, grab a friend's hand and follow the yellow brick road! ;)

Blue Monday

Hello Most Blue Ones! Today I would love to share a little gift my Mr. Precious brought home to me from a recent trip! First, notice the lovely little Blue box! Take the lid off and lying on Blue silky fabric is the sweetest little porcelain hinged box with a little hummingbird on the lid and little hummingbirds all around the sides. This was a sweet little gift covered with lots of Blueness and my Mr. Precious received a nice Blue kiss for thinking of me.

Now please think of our Bluest of hostesses, our Most Smiling Sally for this lovely event at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ where you can lay your lovely Blue eyes on many more Blue participants!

Met Monday

Met Monday is hosted by our Most Transformational One, Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/. Please go and visit her today to see great makeovers!
Today for Met Monday I would like to start off with some nekkedness (Texan for naked)! There's a lot of nekkedness going on at my house sometimes. My dining room and living room needed some clothes! Here you see my dining room windows - nekked. Well, they do have those little mini blinds, but none the less - nekked.

The living room (don't have this sofa, tables or carpet anymore) - nekked windows.

Oh joyness! New blinds! No more nekked dining room windows!

Oh, my joyness is overflowing! No more nekked living room windows either! But something was still missing!

The next step was to add curtains. I sew and thought I would probably end up making my curtains, but found some panels I really liked and just went with those. Now the dining room and living room are across from each other separated by our entry. Same size rooms - not very big and the same long tall windows. So I figured for the windows to look right the curtains would have to be the same in each room.
Well, as I said, both room are not very big so I just treated both windows like one by having one panel per window. I wanted some kind of a valance so I bought two extra panels. I fiddled and flipped and hung and draped and just couldn't get anything to work right for me. I had bought pretty metal rods with little matching rings with clips. I couldn't make anything work! I was so frustrated!
So I just went simple and made gathered valances. I wanted some trim to add to the bottom of the valances and found this sweet little green trim with tassels and a bead. Loved it. Pinned it all down to the fabric - but after sticking myself 7oo times and having to chase away the vampires from my sewing room windows with garlic and a big cross, I thought, "Enough of this blood loss!"
Pulled out my dangerous glue gun and went to town gluing! Oh, that was so much easier. Who would know, right? Shh...don't tell anyone.
Now we're in the living room and have the same curtains with the same valance.

Mr. Precious had to move my dear piano so I could climb up on my little ladder and hang my rods and then my draperies. I do all that sort of stuff. I know, I'm wonderful! ;)
But there is one difference on the living room valances - I used a different trim! Oh, this trim is much fuller and a lighter shade of green with the same cream and gold color in the tassels as the stripes in the fabric! And, there's more little beads! I just love this!
See? Oh, my two room are much more happy now that they don't have to be nekked! Me too!
Hope you like my little transformation today.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Lady Godiva
Seventeen, a beauty queen
She made a ride that caused a scene
In the town

Her long blonde hair
Hangin' down around her knees
All the cats who dig striptease
Prayin' for a little breeze
Her long blonde hair
Falling down across her arms
Hiding all the lady's charms
Lady Godiva

She found fame and made her name
A hollywood director came into town
And said to her
"How'd you like to be a star?"
"You're a girl that could go far"
"'specially dressed the way you are"
She smiled at him
Gave her pretty head a shake
That was Lady G's mistake
A-hey-hey-hey
Lady Godiva

He directs certificate 'X'
And people now are craning their necks
To see her
'cause she's a star
One that everybody knows
Finished with the striptease shows
Now she can't afford her clothes

Her long blonde hair
Lyin' on the barber's floor
Doesn't need it long anymore
Lady Godiva

  11. I love the way the curtain panels are the same (so from outside looks organized and sleek) but that you used different trim! Love the beaded trim, too. Also, I'm old enough to know who Peter and Gordon are. :)

By the way, in Georgia, naked means no clothes...nekkid means no clothes and up to something...we know this thanks to the late Lewis Grizzard!

First, Mr Precious is amazing and he seems to know exactly what you like. I think I would keep him hanging around if he brings more presents like that home with him. Its lovely.

Now I am so glad you are no longer nekked too! Its amazing how different a room can be when fully dressed isnt it? I love what you did with the curtains. That's your artistic streak coming to the fore again! Beautiful fabric, trimmings and finish. You could have been an interior designer too. I am glad you are having so much fun - its also fun for us to see what you are doing!
