Leftover Lane Cake

Dearest Ones, I know you're all sick of seeing things about Christmas, but I just had to post one more thing - this gorgeous cake. Now most of you know our most darling Dot/Picket at Picket's Place - she's a southern gal and we all just love going to visit her. She posted a recipe for this cake called a Lane Cake. It sounded just so yummy, I decided to make it for our Christmas dinner desert!
Is this not the pretties thing, or what?

This cake just is the gooiest yummiest sweetness you're going to pop into your little mouth. Sweet oosh just oozes out from the layers so you have to keep it in the fridge until you're ready to eat a piece. Well, needless to say, my dinner guests loved it! Go on over and visit Picket and get the recipe. I'm sure you're going to enjoy it as much as we did. Thank you, Picket! Oh, I'm sorry, there were no leftovers! :)

Now, on to other things. I think some of you have wondered and asked where Chloe Dawn has been. Dear Ones, she's been hiding from me and hasn't wanted to be in any of my posts for sometime now. I think she is jealous that my Mother is here with us and if she can't have all of the attention, then she'll just hide.

I did finally get a picture of her on Christmas Day! Mr. Precious is holding her and he put the table napkin around her most gorgeous little fuzzy head and tied it under her chin. Doesn't she just looked thrilled to death?! lol

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Tell Her No

And if she should tell you "come closer"
And if she tempts you with her charms
Tell her no no no no no-no-no-no
No no no no no-no-no-no
No no no no no
Don't hurt me now for her love belongs to me

And if she should tell you "I love you", whoa whoa
And if she tempts you with her charms
Tell her no no no no no-no-no-no
No no no no no-no-no-no
Don't let her love from your arms
Oh oh oh oh
Don't hurt me now for her love belongs to me

I know she's the kind of girl
Who'd throw my love away
But I still love her so
Don't hurt me now, don't hurt me now

And if she tells you "I love you", whoa
Just remember she said that to me
Tell her no no no no no-no-no-no
No no no no no-no-no-no
Don't take her love from my arms
Oh oh oh oh oh
Don't leave me now for her love belongs to me

  1. GM Sweetness, I'm going to make that cake, I'm sure I don't have to wait until Christmas, do I? Just yesterday I made her Orange Cake, oh my goodness, it was so good and moist. My DH-PITA, is so picky about food, but he ate two pieces of that cake. LOL . I love when Dot posts her easy downhome recipes.Have a great day.

  6. Oh, I am sooo fat that I don't dare make Picket's cake. I can SEE that it's good, and you're the third person who's posted about how great it is! That Picket, she's on a diet and thinks that she gets thinner by making us get fatter: she's thinner by comparison!

Chole Dawn does not like to be teased.

  12. Shelia, that cake looks so good. I do believe a slice would be so yummy with my morning coffee.

Your post about drawing reminded me so much of myself. I am an only child, too, and I spent many hours drawing. I still love to draw, but it has been years since I did anything seriously.

Do you think we might be sisters separated at birth? ;-)

  13. If I could afford a beautiful house like yours and know that I could make it as sweet and warm as you have made yours, (and I could afford a maid...remember...I'm old) I would choose one just like yours..with the Am. flag and the Tex. flag flying..just like yours.
You sweet little dog is so cute in her REDness.....
    have a good day, bj

How is Mother Precious doing now? I'm sending prayers and love your ways and hers.

And I probably ought to be thanking you for not having leftovers as I have got to go on my most unfavorite four-letter word: D-I-E-T. Sigh.

There's a little something for you at my blog if you get a chance. :-)

    XO,

Sheila who can't click on your email because something is wrong with this new laptop... but Mr. Magpie can and did. Will get my email off to you soon! :-)
