Getting Back to Normal

Normal? What is normal? Well, 2009 in our house has started off with a bang! Isn't that how you're supposed to end the year? Well, we decided we would reverse it and bang it is! Even went to bed at 7:00 pm on New Year's Eve. You know we're such party peeps! lol

You know Christmas decorations have to come off the tree and be put away in their special little places. So that's what I've been doing between nursing and running all over the house.
How come each year when you start to put away your Christmasy things, they seem to multiply? Well, I guess I did buy a few extra things or two.
How come all the pretty glass ornaments didn't come with special boxes so they won't get broken? Oh my goodness, I'm tired! I've almost gotten everything put away.

I am still so grateful for all you, my sweeties, thinking of us with my Mother all busted up! She's doing pretty well and we do have home health care nurses coming this week and helping her and some occupational therapy folks to help her learn more how to use her left hand (she's right handed and she broke her right arm). Thank you again for your prayers.

Now, to the funny stuff. You know I told you my Mother was talking crazy while taking the nasty ole Vicodin? She was asking me why I had changed my hair color to snow white? Well, one of my precious sweeties just couldn't help herself and she sent me a picture of my most gorgeous self and she made my hair white or is it platinum?
Ta dah!!! Look at me! All Snow White Headed! Am I gorgeous or what? ;) I'm printing this out to show my Mother - she'll laugh. Hopefully I can get back to blogging. I've missed you all so much and I am slowing getting around to see all of you! Love love hug hug!!

You are a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night

Last night your shadow fell upon my lonely room
I touched your golden hair and tasted your perfume
Your eyes were filled with love the way they used to be
Your gentle hand reached out to comfort me
Then came the dawn And you were gone
You were gone, gone, gone
I had too much to dream last night

Too much to dream
I'm not ready to face the light
I had too much to dream
Last night
Last night
The room was empty as I staggered from my bed
I could not bear the image racing through my head
You were so real that I could feel your eagerness
And when you raised your lips for me to kiss
Came the dawn
And you were gone
You were gone, gone, gone
Oh, too much to dream
Oh, too much to dream
Too much to dream last night

  3. Shelia, you look gawjus with white hair. White hair has a special place in my heart and on my head! Of course, I prefer the platinum description!

  9. Hi Blondie,
I'm so glad your mom is doing better. I feel your pain.
Last year my mom had back surgery and I had to help her do everything from bathing to dressing. Her at 82 was no easy task. I just kept remembering how time does go full circle. They did for us and now we do for them.
I still have my decorations up for a few more days. Not looking forward to the task.
    Happy New Year.

  12. Good morning Goldilocks! It looks good on you! I'm so glad to hear that things are in a better place for Miss Lucille and for you. I can't imagine how frustrating it is for her to have to use her left hand when she's a righty. My mom had to do the same and actually got pretty proficient with her left hand by the time her right arm had healed. Just take it one day at a time and hang on to your sense of humor for dear life!

  13. To live a life as a right handed person and then at this age to have to learn to use the left--what torture. I'm glad that she's getting some professional help. She's fortunate to have a devoted daughter and son-in-law. Thanks for sharing.

  18. I am sure it will be an arduous journey to complete recovery with many unknown, at this time, pitfalls ahead. Hopefully any setbacks encountered will only cause a brief slowdown in progression to a return of good health and self sufficiency.

  19. I think you may be one of those women who look good in any hair color. Glad things are settling down and almost back to normal.

  24. Ha Cha Chaa.....wow-wee....what a Hottie! NOW you should try a Farrah Fawcett type hairdo to go with your platinum locks!

I know what you mean about putting away Christmas....it' just seems to get bigger and bigger. I told myself NO MORE BUYING CHRISTMAS stuff...I have plenty. But then when I go to the store and see 50-80% off and everything's so cute..I buy anyway.

Glad to hear your momma's doing better! I'm back at work today and wish I was at home in my pj's blogging.

  33. I was just telling hubby the same thing about the decorations. I said I have enough! He said, but you get more each year! I said...you don't help!! He loves the BIG things, but there is no place to store them. He saw a life size Santa that he wanted. I said where do I store him. Hubby said, I will put him in the closet, but I will make him face the wall!!!
We are over the top...!!! and what am I planning on doing tomorrow???

  38. Don't get too "normal" Shelia, and don't rush w/ the Christmas decor, it'll get put away eventually. It isn't even Little Christmas until tomorrow! Do you always have 1 Christmas thing that doesn't get put away? I do!

  41. Hi Sheila, your make a great white hair or is it platinum? Which ever it is your pretty face still shines through.

I haven't taken the first Christmas treasure down. We were in Atlanta for two days and that leaves it to do this week. Sigh. Such alot of work. Such is life.

I am glad to hear your mom has some home health and therapy. also that she sat up in a chair. She must feel helpless. I must tell you when my mother-in-law was ill one time she too said the funniest things. Medication was to blame.

I am still praying for your mom and for you to have the strength to care for your mom.
