I must tell you ~ I love to play! Of all my pieces of furniture, this little hutch in my breakfast room gets messed with alot! During the summer I lined the backboard with scrapbooking paper! I love that!! So I'll show you how it looks at the moment!
Ain't We Got Fun
Every morning
Every evening
Ain't we got fun
Not much money
Oh but honey
Ain't We Got Fun
The rent's unpaid dear
We have'nt a bus
But smiles were made dear
For people like us
In the winter
In the summer
Don't we have fun
Times are bum and getting bummer
Still we have fun
There's nothing surer
The rich get rich and the poor get children
In the meantime
In between time
Ain't we got fun
Every morning
Every evening
Don't we got fun
Twins and cares dear
Come in pairs dear
Don't we have fun
We've only started
As mommer and pop
Are we downhearted
I'll say that we're not
Landlords mad and getting madder
Ain't we got fun
Times are bad and getting badder
Still we have fun
There's nothing surer
The rich get rich and the poor get laid off
In the meantime
In between time
Ain't we got fun
Night or day-time
It's all play-time
Ain't we got fun
Hot or cold days
Any old days
Ain't we got fun
If wifie wishes
To go to a play
Don't wash the dishes
Just throw them away
Street car seats are awful narrow
Ain't we got fun
They won't smash up our Pierce Arrow
We ain't got none
They've cut my wages
income tax will be so much smaller
When I'm paid off
I'll be laid off
Ain't we got fun
~sung by Doris Day
oh, you precious thing, you...
ReplyDeleteI just know that your marble and flooring will get done before you can turn around twice and say "hurryupness"!
Your hutch with all it's wonderfulness is so pretty, Sheila..those little plates are to die for!
love, bj
I love those pretty little plates!! Especially the couple sitting!! Their sooooo cute.
ReplyDeleteOh, sweetie, I can't believe it...no flooring...and no Christmas decorations. That must be so hard for you. I know it's difficult for me NOT to decorate this year. (Well, I have 1 small, little tree sitting on a chest in the Living Room.) But, we will be gone off and on through the holidays, that we decided not to decorate...so I could continue with my re-decorating chores.
~Blessings,
Jan
Similar situation happened to us at our last house about two weeks before Christmas. I ended up putting up a tree and made them lay flooring around it - and move it around. It was crazy!!
ReplyDeleteYour china hutch looks beautiful! I wish I had open shelving like that.
Bless your heart, Sheila! I feel for you! Our remodel put my decorating way behind schedule, too! I'm just now getting started, but am worn out and don't have it in me this year! LOL! The remodel sapped my energy and creativity! LOL! So it will be toned down and much simplier this year! Just think how fabulous it will be when it finally gets here! :) Your hutch is really pretty! ...and I LOVE your dishes! How festive and pretty! ~hugs, Rhonda :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you showed us close-ups of the little dishes. I was trying to get a peak at them in the first photos. They are the cutest things.
ReplyDeleteWe aren't decorated for Christmas yet either. Boxes and chaos reign supreme. My husband is going out to cut our tree this morning.
So many beautiful things, I don't even know what to comment on first. I'm sorta laughing about the flooring. We had the same thing happen except it was the marble for the hearth...and he had started laying them. Yikes...down they came.
ReplyDeleteLove soup tureens, I also have hissy fits on the occasion...and I have a Mr. Dumpling. ;-)
I love transferware as you could tell from my header!
Blessings always...
Those sweet dessert plates are the perfect thing to quench a hissy fit. Now life can go on.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I DO understand how frustrating remodeling can be. Workmen canceling, products not the right shape or color. I've been through it too. (*sigh*) But in the end, you'll live "happily ever after."
I love all the pictures - so pretty! Your plates with the nostalgic designs are priceless. The one with the little boy playing reminds me of old childhood games.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you have this aggravation, but I know with your little bright and sunny attitude, you'll get through it, me? I would be turning somebodies desk over. :) . Well, you've been tagged sweatheart., come over for a visit and see.
ReplyDeleteLove ya,
Chris
Just think it won't be long and you'll be posting your beautiful new floor. I used to sell flooring. It can happen. But, everything will be fine in the end.
ReplyDeleteI love the white dishes you have on your hutch. I wish I had a nice place to display dishes. You've done a wonderful job!!
Hi Sheila, I know just how you feel, I have a few projects here that I wanted done before decorating and one is a floor in my kitchen and living room but it's not going to happen. So I will just have to decorate around it. I put my tree in my foyer also. I love it there because you can see the lights from outside. I love your housey things! So cute and a great buy!
ReplyDeleteYour Thanksgiving dinner looked yummy! Tablescapes were so pretty, cute Blue Mondays also.
Congrats on winning the Joyce Meyer 100 Ways book, I've been looking for that. I love her she is so inspiring!
Blessings, Shirl

Hi Shelia...My eyes flew to those adorable dessert plates...I just hope Chloe Dawn doesn't get jealous of that weenie dog or whippet dog in one of the pics...if she does, just tell her it was a stray that came along. LOL...I'll cross fingers for your flooring to be finished pronto. Big hugs, ;-) Bo
ReplyDeleteOh, what a horrible time of the year to be waiting on flooring to get done, but I know it will be so worth it when it's finished. Can't wait to see. Your hutch looks so pretty. Love the scrapbooking paper in the back of it. I'm afraid I am coveting your darling dessert plates! At least something wonderful came out of the hurricane! laurie
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to be patient, I imagine, when all of blogland is decorating for Christmas. I know that when you get a chance, it will be wonderful, just like your hutch. Sally
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, sorry I'm not a very good visitor lately, apart from broadband troubles I have been extremely busy with my job hunting and it seems parental duties are doubled this time of year!
ReplyDeleteLove all your pics today, I hope you get your flooring soon, does your mom really say 'hissy fit' lol!!
Oh.. I love it!! :-) so many cute and beautiful dishes!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI think you CAN love Marshalls! hehe
Monica
Well if you can love tea pots then I can LOVE those German plates you found! Awesome find!
ReplyDeleteBuffie ;)
Hope your marble gets done SOON!
Would it be a hissy fit if I stomp my feet for you. How dare they get it wrong. I will be hoping that they get it layed down soon. I absolutely hate when things happen like that, but usually it turns out just fine, sometimes for the better! Dishes are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you got over the hissy fit and moved on to playing while you wait for your floor to come. It will come. Now you just gotta be patient. Easier said than done I know. Have a good day! (while you are waiting)
ReplyDeleteGood morning sweetest of sweets... I am so sorry about your flooring but when it does come in think of just how gorgeous it will be... just a temporary bump in the road... On the other hand I just adore those little plates and you breakfast hutch... Thank you so much for sharing them with us... L♥ve you!!!
ReplyDelete(((HUGS)))
Donna
I LOVE that breakfast room hutch filled with those delightful goodies!!!! Oh yes, you can LOVE everything about it!!! I do hope your floor gets installed quickly so you can get on with your Christmas decorating!
ReplyDeleteDid you say waiting for flooring?
ReplyDeleteWe are too!!!
Yes, honest! Right now so many things from the kitchen and dining are in other rooms..oh it is mayhem!
We are decorating the basement (that is our plan) if the flooring is still not here!
Oh so happy to know I am NOT alone!
Will you come to my house and play with rearranging things? I slap stuff out and they pretty much stay in the same spot---BORING!!! I wish I could get some enthusiasm about moving stuff around, but I think (bottom line, here) I'm tooooo lazy!
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy seeing all of the things YOU'VE been doing while waiting on your floor--frustrating, isn't it!!!
When you have a chance, check out my post for today!!!!! Dana
It looks great!! I love your little German plates, sooo cute.
ReplyDeleteAnd I loved your tablescapes yesterday. One of the first I've seen that was as functional as pretty. Good job.
*hugs*
~Magical & Festive~ :)
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful. I got me a new teapot too. A customer made me a black and white toile tea cozzy, so I bought a simple tea pot to go with it. Kathy
ReplyDeleteOh honey, I am so sorry that you did not get your flooring put down. That is so frustrating when that happens. I hope the right color comes in soon so they can get it down for you. Meanwhile, I have some desert over at my place and a bathroom diva shot for you!
ReplyDeletesorry about the floor...I am so not patient either and that would make me cry too!
ReplyDeletethe whole house is wonderful...and thanks for showing just a few shots of it!
Sheila, I adore all of your pretty things in your hutch. I have that white tureen and I broke my ladle. I am hoping to find one too. Yes, I love Marshalls. They have the greatest things in odd dishes etc. I love your little plates. Each scene is so cute. I could not have resisted them. Something good came from that flight from IKE.
ReplyDeleteCome over there is four more days for the giv-a-way. Good luck sweet friend.
Love...Jeanne
Sheila, I'm back because I did something backwards. I looked at all of your pretties and didn't read your first paragraph. I missed your sadness over the marble. How very upsetting to say the least. You are allowed a fit or two. I might have had three at least. Smile.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. OK, now it is time to smile and remember all good things come from those who wait. Who said that?? Bah Humbug!LOL.
Hugs...Jeanne
Boy I think I would be in tears over the disappointment of my floor!!!
ReplyDeleteYour hutch looks very nice. I like the way you displayed your dishes and the little houses. It looks nice. You are quite the decorator!
take care,
Dawn
Hi Shelia, I love it all...yes, I love tea pots too, and you better believe I love Marshall's !!!! Good luck with your flooring! I know a little bit about that stuff! We have had a family flooring business for 25+ years! Sometimes things like that happen! Blessings to you, Nancy
ReplyDeleteOh how I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to be a bathroom Diva.
Just tell me what to do.
Claudie from Canada
those plates are beyond cute...let me know when you will give them to me k?
ReplyDeleteYa know, I just dont play anymore--I need to. I think somewhere in my life-I just forgot to play.
Dear Shelia, You have so many pretty things. I just love coming to visit you. I have never seen anything like those little plates. They are so unusual and charming. So pretty...
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you don't have any way to put up your tree, Shelia! Here's a big hug from me to you {{{hug}}}. Love all your white china! And I love the people plates. So cute!
ReplyDeletexo,
Sheila :-)
I'm SO sorry about your flooring but proud of you that you had the sense to succumb to a hissy fit. Sometimes that's just the best thing to do. Get it out of your system, it always feel good to do that! I'm glad you choose to make lemonade out of lemons. I enjoyed your pictures in this post.
ReplyDeleteEvening Shelia~ I must say I love your dishes and oh yes, I love Marshalls, too. I am a big tea pot and you have the prettiest I've seen. Can't wait to see your floor and your Christmas decor. I just know it's going to be wownderful!
ReplyDeleteHugs~ J
So sorry about the marble Shelia--how frustrating that is! I just love your teapot collection. I am a big tea drinker, and have a collection of tea pots too, my favorite ones come from England. My sister lived there for several years and sent them here to me. Tea brewed in them tastes extra special!
ReplyDeleteKeeping my fingers and toes crossed that your marble comes in really soon!
ReplyDeleteYour hutch looks lovely...I saw somewhere, when someone could not find a ladle for a vintage tureen, they found an ornate vintage silver plate ladle and used that. It looked great!
Hugs,
Penny
Love those dessert plates, they are unusual. And I like unusual.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you use to attach your paper to the back of your hutch ?
You aren't alone: I haven't decorated at all. I only have pictures of Christmas Past, like poor Scrooge. Dr. Gollum is home tomorrow, so I hope we can bring the boxes upstairs. I have a cookie jar that goes with your house pitcher. And I spy all of that glorious white pottery!!!!
ReplyDeleteUgh! I'm so sorry the flooring isn't there yet. There is just nothing worse then waiting anxiously for something to arrive, watching it arrive and then realizing it is the wrong thing! Blah! I hope the company is working quickly to make you a happy customer :0)
ReplyDeleteI like your breakfast hutch and those little plates...aww!
All I can say is they better be glad you had a hissy fit instead of a conniption fit. If it had been the latter you might not have mellowed quickly and been so forgiving of their bungling of your order. Hopefully they will get the mistake rectified very shortly.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you have at least one good memory of the rude interruption to your life that Ike caused. I am thankful, as I know you are, that you still have a house that you need the marble for. It will eventually get there and hopefully next year won't be so chaotic.
I love your hutch so much...it is like mine, always being tweaked! It is fun isn't it? Your pretties are just SO pretty!! I love seeing all of your treasures and those plates are adorable!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Sue
