Tablescape Tuesday

Dear Ones, I had preposted this TT before the event of my mother breaking her arm. I want to thank you all so very much for all your prayers and good wishes. I really felt those prayers yesterday! I need an extra boost this morning. She is still in lots of pain. I bought home intercoms for her bedroom and ours and one for downstairs so she could contact me when she needed me. Well, a disaster happened last night! She tried to call me, turned off the unit so she couldn't get me and decided she would get up out of bed on her own and go to the bathroom. Horrible ending! She fell on the floor on her stomach and I came to check on her and she had been lying there for an hour or so! I cannot tell you how we struggled to get her back on the bed, not being able to touch her broken arm and the shoulder.

This is where I need your prayers. I don't have any siblings to help out, I'm not able to lift because of a surgery and Mr. Precious' back is just not that strong. We need help! I'm going to call her regular doctor and see if she can recommend putting mother in the hospital or a place that can care for her. I feel so badly that I can't do what I need to do for her. We have her upstairs and I don't think we could get her down without assistance. Please Dear Friends, pray for us.
When I find out what we're going to do I'll certainly get back with you. This is so hard.
thank you so much, Dear Ones.

Hello, Dear Ones and welcome to another fantastic Tablescape Tuesday. I'm finding myself looking so forward to this day each week so I can get a little glimpse at all of your dishy talents! If you'd like to gaze on more lovely tables, just go see our hostess, Dishy Diva Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/
This was my Christmas table. I draped the table with a white tablecloth and used wine colored place mats and napkins.

These Christmas dishes are very simple with holly leaves and berries circling the plate. I bought these a few years ago from Target and I liked them so much I kept going back and buying more. I have service for 20 or more! I forgot exactly how many I have! lol But if all of my sweeties come for dinner, I can give you a plate to eat from! ;)
Now I've shown you the little Christmas tree napkin rings before, but I love them! Can you love Christmas tree napkin rings! Ho Ho Ho, Yes!!
Here's the dinner plate sitting on a golden charger (I wish!) Isn't the design sweet?
Just plain beverage glasses to be filled with peach tea. How I love my peach tea! Can you love...you know me! :)
Now I have quite a few pieces of this dark red glassware. I didn't put anything edible in this little creamer, but I did sit a little votive down in there and it flickered ever so sweetly during dinner.
Cute little salt and peppers - think these came from Target too! I have a couple of sets so I can set a pair at each end of the table. Do you want to ask me if I love my salt & peppers!? Woo Hoo, I do!!
Now, I think I was really feeling good and a bit silly here! Let me tell you a little story: I don't have a gravy bowl to match my Christmas dishes and I looked high and low around my house looking for something that would work. You cannot serve turkey and dressing without gravy and gravy cries and weeps to be poured into a gravy bowl! But being the most clever one, I found a solution! This is a very large cup and saucer that was filled to the brim with Godiva chocolates! After Mr. Precious went to town on those chocolates this pair was just clicking and clacking to sit on my table filled with turkey gravy! And so a gravy bowl was born on Christmas morn. ;) well, it was Christmas evening but that didn't rhyme!
Another piece of the wine colored glassware - a bowl filled with vintage Christmas balls. Would you like one? They're vintage and they're very crispy! Aw, come on, try one just for me! :)
Here is my centerpiece. I'll tell you another very short story and you know how very much I love to tell my little stories: Once upon a time I saw these three trees in Hobby Lobby. Actually it was a few weeks back but I fell in love with them and walked right out of the store empty handed. I became so sad! The corners of my mouth turned down, tears were pouring from my most gorgeous peeepers, I was sad! I dreamed and pined for these pretty softly colored muted green trees and three days before Christmas - I went back. To my delight they were still on the shelves and they were on sale - 1/2 price! Shoutin' Hallelujah! But it's not the end! It's never the end. :)
Aren't they wonderful? So frilly and lovely! I think they look like Christmas tree wedding cakes - the big one is the Bride's cake, the middle one is the Groom's cake and the little one is for ME! ;)

I always have to have a candle and these two candles are scented a wonderful sprucey aroma!
Here I am being silly again. I sprinkled little milk chocolate Santie candies and green and red wrapped candies all around the table.
I gave each person a little votive with one of those little flickering 'fake' flames. No sleeves were caught on fire at my table! No siree! :)
Are you sure you won't have just one vintage crispy Christmas ball?
Look at my little trees again and see all the candies sprinkled around just tempting my diners.
Now, I must tell you something - I'm a copy cat. I think I've told you that before. If you do something and I like it - I'm going to copy you! I hope you don't mind. You've been hanging pretties from your chandy arms and I wanted to do that too!
See these little iciclely drops? Well, I found five of these and hung them from the chandelier and thought they looked pretty and a bit like Christmas icicles hanging down even if it was 70' outside! A gal must have her fun!
See how pretty?
Well, there you have it - my Christmas table. I think my guests enjoyed themselves and I hope you did too!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~ Oh, no! my little Note Song girl disappeared! I'll have to find her!

The Gobble Song

Gobble, gobble, gobble that turkey gobble
Gobble, gobble, gobble that turkey gobble
Gobble, gobble, gobble that turkey gobble
Come on to my house tonight

We've Had An Accident!

Dear Ones, let me tell you...it's amazing how fast plans and life can change is just a few seconds. Most of you know I'm the pianist at my church. Well, I leave on Sundays at 8:45am to practice with our Praise Team. Mother is living with us after the storm and she goes to church early with me. We were all ready to go and she turned to go get her purse, I turned to get my car keys and Mr. Precious screamed out! I turned around and Mother was on the floor crying out in pain!

Since the hurricane our hospital beds are only for mothers having babies. So urgent care is what we have and very limited at that. We take her, she's x-rayed and her arm is broken above her elbow and they tell us she probably needs surgery. She needs an orthopedic doctor and Galveston has none at this time. So the ER doctor calls all the hospitals - "Can you take an elderly 85 year old female with a broken arm?" Blah blah blah. Long story short - we finally find a place for her at Houston's Methodist.

They transport Mother in an ambulance andMr. Precious and I follow. We take the x-ray on a CD and they look at it, give her some pain meds and tell her to make an appointment in a few days with the doctor they've recommended and send her home! They said the way her arm broke, it should heal on it's own - hopefully~

I am so thankful she didn't have to have surgery. That would be very hard with her age. But Dear Ones, I'm asking for prayer...she is in such pain. They did put her arm in a sling and that helped to keep it from moving around. But she is so allergic to so many pain meds that it's difficult to give her the ones that would help the most. Please pray she will heal correctly and the meds will work.

I feel so badly for her! I feel responsible! She caught the toe of her shoe under an area rug and that's what made her fall. I was just thinking a couple of days ago that I should take them up, but I didn't do it and now she's hurt!

Here she was at Christmas dinner telling one of her stories to some of our friends feeling good and not broken.

After cooking and spiffing up the house for two days, I was exhausted and Mother was so glad to help clean up the kitchen while I rested.

I believe in the power of prayer and I know I can count on my Dear Ones to be praying for my Mother. Her name is Lucille. I probably won't be blogging much in the next few days, but I'll try to keep you updated on her.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :(

Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Pretty Baby

You ask me why I'm always teasing you
You hate to have me call you Pretty Baby
I really thought that I was pleasing you
For you're just a baby to me
Your cunning little dimples and your baby stare
Your baby talk and baby walk and curly hair
Your baby smile
Makes life worthwhile
You're just as sweet as you can be

Your mother said you were the cutest kid
No wonder, Dearie, that I'm wild about you
And all the cunning things you said and did
Why, I love to fondly recall
And just like Peter Pan it seems you'll always be
The same sweet cunning little baby dear to me
And that is why
I'm sure that I
Will always love you best of all
Everybody loves a baby that's why I'm in love with you
Pretty baby, pretty baby
And I'd like to be your sister, brother, dad and mother too
Pretty baby, pretty baby
Won't you come and let me rock you in my cradle of love
And we'll cuddle all the time
Oh, I want a lovin' baby, and it might as well be you
Pretty baby of mine

I've Changed My Christmas Dress

Well, Dear Ones, Christmas is over and my blog was just dying to change it's dress. So I went shopping and found a new one. Isn't it fun to have on new blog clothes? I know my blog is so much happier now! We'll see how long this outfit will last until my finicky little blog screams for another outfit!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

Vintage Clothes

Don't live in the past
Don't hold on to something that's changing fast
What we are, is what we are and what we wear
Is vintage clothes, vintage clothes:

We jump up for joy
Who cares if we look like a girl or boy
What we are, is what we are and what we wear
Is vintage clothes, vintage clothes:

A little more, a little tall
Check the rack
What went out, is coming back

Don't live in the past
Don't hold on to something that's changing fast
What we are, is what we are and what we wear
Is vintage clothes, vintage clothes:

A little more, a little tall
Check the rack
What went out, is coming back

Merry Christmas to My Sweeties!

My Dearest Ones, I want to thank you for supporting me and coming to visit me with your sweet comments for six months now! I had no idea what I was in for, but you all have become so dear to me and I appreciate you so much. I want to wish you and your families the most wonderful Christmas ever! My family and I feel so blessed at this time and our hearts are filled with joy for our Lord Jesus chose to leave Heaven for us! Merry Christmas and I'll be posting more later.

You are My Sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

I Need a Silent Night

I've made the same mistake before
Too many malls, too many stores
December traffic, Christmas rush
It breaks me till I push and shove

Children are crying while mothers are trying
To photograph Santa and sleigh
The shopping and buying and standing forever in line
What can I say?

I need a silent night, a holy night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise
I need a midnight clear, a little peace right here
To end this crazy day with a silent night

December comes then disappears
Faster and faster every year
Did my own mother keep this pace
Or was the world a different place?

Where people stayed home wishing for snow
Watching three channels on their TV
Look at us now rushing around
Trying to buy Christmas peace

I need a silent night, a holy night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise
I need a midnight clear, a little peace right here
To end this crazy day with a silent night

What was it like back there in Bethlehem
With peace on earth, good will toward men?

Every shepherd's out in the field
Keeping watch over their clock by night
And the glory of the Lord shone around them
And they were so afraid

And the angels said fear not for behold
I bring you good news of a great joy that shall be for all people
For unto you is born this day a Savior, who is Christ the Lord
And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace

I need a silent night, a holy night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise
I need a midnight clear, a little peace right here
To end this crazy day with a silent night
To end this crazy day with a silent night

A Tour and Tablescape Tuesday

I'm so glad you popped in to see me today! I am so excited to share with you MY NEW FLOORS! Man, was this hard on me! Now I didn't do any of the work - but the waiting, the frustrations, the stress! Hallelujah, it's over!! So allow me to show off just a bit...;)
Here are the three amigoes - the granite floor of the entry (I thought it was marble, what did I know?) the carpet for the dining/living rooms and the patterned carpet going up the stairs. I think we did a pretty good job of blending them.

This is at the top of the stairs looking down. Saturday was a nightmare! This helped me get to be a few bubbles off, you know! Just to make my long story short - the carpet layers came and started to work on the stairs and they didn't even know what they were doing! The little guy said, "You don't want to match this pattern do you?" I almost passed out! Story continues...I'll spare you. Then Sunday after church one guy came and did a beautiful job and even worked on some of the granite that was messed up. He came at 1pm and didn't leave until 11pm! Folks, I'm pooped! While my house was a total wreck, I missed out on showing some of my Christmas things. I hope you're not just sick of looking at Christmas decorations because I want to show you a little of mine and then on with Tablescape Tuesday.

This is where I play my little Note Songs just for you! ;)

Special Note Songs Christmas balls
I love to display my Nativities in my living room. I have more, but just didn't feel like putting all of them out this year.

I love these little copy cat Limoges boxes Nativity. They're very small.
I painted my dining and living rooms this spring and don't have it all decorated yet. Draperies - I don't have any yet and need more things on the walls I think. So just very simple traditional red and green Christmas in here. It does look prettier in person.

This is an old punch bowl my aunt passed down to me and each year I fill it with little simple ornaments that hung on my tree when I was a little girl. Yes, I was a little girl once and we even had Christmas trees waaaaaaaaaaaay back then! :)
These are Mr. Precious' little houses sitting atop my Little Richard (vintage buffet). The two large ones are from the Snow Village collection. I don't think he wants any more, he just wants these out each year - so I obey. You know how obedient and submissive I am!! lol

Cloche just filled with pretty little ornaments. I love cloches. Can you love cloches? Just ask me!

When I emptied out my china cabinet for the carpet to be laid, I decided to fill it with some Christmas dishes.
Now we're in the den. This is the wreath I showed you a few weeks back that I made and it was hanging on my front door. Well, I bought one of those little sticky hangers and stuck it on these 1970s mirrors and hung it there. I really like it here.
This vase filled with Christmas lights sits below the wreath in my crystal bar. This is a dark picture but the lights look so pretty in here bouncing all around on my crystaly things.
I just love sparkly thingys!!
Behind the little nutcrackers, aren't they precious, is an old glass basket filled with ribbon balls like the one in front that I made many years ago.

Woof! Woof! This is Chloe Dawn's little doggie figurine! She's so silly. Thank you for allowing me to show some Christmas.
Now on with Tablescape Tuesday...
Hello Dear Ones and welcome again to Tablescape Tuesday hosted by the Diva of Dishes, Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/. Be sure to visit Susan to see all of the dishaholics!!
Today I'd like to share a very simple little tablescape with you. The table is set just for Mr. Precious and me. I sent my Mother to bed! lol
I'm using the Old Britian Castles dinner and salad plates.
I've mixed in newer and vintage crystal. This little sherbet dish is Fostoria crystal - the pattern is called Colony. I'd love to fill this with a shrimp cocktail! Yummy to my tummy~

Newer crystal glasses.
The sugar and creamer are also Fostoria - Colony. In the background is a three footed candy dish - Colony. The tiny little salt and peppers are Fostoria - Americana pattern.

I dearly love this glass basket and use it all over the place.
Candlelight is a must.
Well, there you have it, my little tablescape for two.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

The Look Of Love

The look of love
Is in your eyes
The look your smile can't disguise
The look of love
Is saying so much more
Than just words could ever say
And what my heart has heard
Well it takes my breath away

I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you

You've got the look of love
It's on your face
A look that time can't erase
Be mine tonight
Let this be just the start
Of so many nights like this
Lets take a lovers vow
And then seal it with a kiss

I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
Don't ever go
Dont ever go
Dont ever go
I love you so

~sung by Dusty Springfield
