We must have gravy. I make a pretty good turkey gravy but have run across some of your recipes that I may just try this year.
Mr. Precious dearly loves his cranberry sauce. This is one thing I always pass up, just don't like the stuff!
I will never pass up a big heaping spoonful of garlic mashed potatoes and a little gravy drizzled over the top!
Sweet potato casserole...we all love this dish! Can't make this with canned sweet potatoes. You just must use the real thing. There really is a difference in the flavor! Trust me! ;)
I know, please don't laugh or gag! We like Green Bean Casserole.
A few roasted carrots on the side!
Rolls hot from the oven smeared with butter!
Take a ten minute break while I clear away the dishes and I'll cut you a slice of pumpkin pie with a little dollop of whipped cream!

The Thanksgiving Song
Love to eat turkey
Love to eat turkey
Love to eat turkey
'Cause it's good
Love to eat turkey
Like a good boy should
'Cause it's turkey to eat
So good
Turkey for me
Turkey for you
Let's eat the turkey
in my big brown shoe
Love to eat the turkey
At the table
I once saw a movie
With Betty Grable
Eat that turkey
All night long
Fifty million Elvis fans
Can't be wrong
Turkey turkey doo andTurkey turkeydap
I eat that turkey Then I take a nap
Thanksgiving is a special night
Jimmy Walker used to say Dynomite
That's right
Turkey with gravy and cranberry
Can't believe the Mets traded Darryl Strawberry
Turkey for you and Turkey for me
White meat, dark meat
You just can't lose
I fell off my moped
And I got a bruise
Turkey in the oven
And the buns in the toaster
I'll never take down My Cheryl Tiegs poster
Green beans and sweet potato pie
Sammy Davis Jr.Only had one eye
Turkey for the girls and
Turkey for the boys
My favorite kind of pants
Are corduroys
Gobble gobble goo and
Gobble gobble gickel
I wish turkey Only cost a nickel
Oh I love turkey on Thanksgiving
Sounds and looks scrumptious. I'll be posting what Mr. Tom and I will be having on Thanksgiving, too!

Good Morning Shelia
ReplyDeleteOh that looks so totally delicious even at 7:56 AM! I love a turkey dinner like that. I had never had the green bean casserole until I met the Love Bunny. We now share it with friends here and they in turn love it too. Oh my yum those pictures are soooo good. We like to make cranberry sauce and add some grated orange to it and just a teaspoon or so of orange juice as we cook it. Its a nice little change.
Well I can imagine you are busy getting ready for your Thanksgiving and setting up your favourite china. I hope you take pics so we can see your choice.
We're going to friends for Thanksgiving this year.
Have a lovely day
Judi

Shelia, I love green bean casserole too. Unfortunately I have served it so many times that my hubby says he never wants it again!! So it's broccoli and cheese casserole for us instead. :)
ReplyDeleteShelia, I just did a double-take! Apparently, we are not only both members of the SheLady club, but we both love the same blog Christmas page! LOL! I just decorated last night, and I needed blue... so we're twins again! :-)
ReplyDeleteLoving you much,
Sheila
Morning Sheila , I am taking a break right now. We are having our dinner today at my house. The daughter in laws have to go to their parents tomorrow. I hope I can get through this. ReplyDeleteOkay, I am glad Bobby G. isn't reading your blog over my shoulder or surely he would be at your house for dinner. He LOVES the Green Bean Casserole but alas, it's not on my menu this Thanksgiving. :) Happy Thanksgiving Sheila.

You are making me hungey!! I have no idea what to expect. My sister in law does Thanksgiving and I do Christmas. With two deaths in her family a cousin is hosting dinner. I am not sure whrther to go or not. It is going to be strained. To you and yours , joy peace and love. Kathy

Got to have green been casserole!! Your menu sounds wonderful and traditional. Love it. Sally
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving. It looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks yummy! I hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving enjoying this tasty food.
ReplyDeleteDH doesn't much care for turkey but adores bar-b-que, so I will serve a bar-b-qued turkey breast along with his preferred honey glazed ham. He counts on potato salad, which I seldom make. I prepared it yesterday. Along with mashed sweet potatoes, Italian green beans, and fresh creamed corn that should pretty much complete the sides. Of course we'll also have rolls and sweet tea.
ReplyDeleteMy heart is heavy as I think of all who are still suffering the effects of Ike. A special prayer for them.
I hope you and yours have a blessed upcoming season and a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year.
that looks wonderful!!! Wishing you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeletexoxo,

ReplyDeleteHi Glenda, oh, your menu sounds delicious!! I prefer ham myself, but am a good girl and always roast a turkey. Are you Susan's sister from Between Naps on the Portch? She mentioned her sister, Glenda, yesterday and I thought it may be you!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Thanksgiving,
Shelia ;)
Sheila, your menu is lovely. it doesn't sound so simple. I also do everything I can ahead. More time to spend with our loving family. I have two pumpkin pies in the oven now, Yum. Next I am making yeast rolls. We will drive to our son's house in the morning for dinner. He lives 2 hours away. Your food looks so beautiful and made with loving hands.
ReplyDeleteI stopped by to wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Blessings..Jeanne
Dear Sheila, you are so precious! I loved all those pics of that delish food, I think I'm coming to your house! Hope you and yours have a wonderful day together & thanks for being a sweet friend. xoxo
ReplyDeleteOkay, you've made me hungry! Your food looks delicious. Yes, I use the same recipes every Thanksgiving and Christmas and forget about several of them at any other time of the year. When I fix them for a holiday, I always wonder why I haven't included them in a menu during the year. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. laurie

Gobble Gobble, Shelia!
ReplyDeleteI forget about Waldorf Salad! I think I'll put that in my book for Christmas brunch. Many a year ago..Christmas at the kids paternal grandparents, always included Waldorf Salad.
Thank you for the beautiful card!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh Shelia..This looks yummy! And my whole family loves green bean casserole! I know what you mean about the once a year dishes. That's true for sweet potato casserole at my house. Have a great Thanksgiving...Debbie

Beautiful and yummy!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your Family!
Well, Shelia, that menu looks divine! We are having a very similar meal. My daughter is fixing the green bean casserole. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVED your Tues. Tablescape! You have developed quite the knack for setting a wonderful table.
I do so appreciate the sweet comment you left on my post, Shelia. I feel so fortunate to have "met" you through blogging--you are such a joyful person and it just OOOZES throughout your posts. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family----how lucky you are to still have your Mom! Dana
Happy Thanksgiving, Shelia -
ReplyDeleteYour menu sounds wonderful. And too different from ours. We love the green bean casserole, too. It will disappear right away. I'm doing several things ahead this year. For the first time the mashed potatoes will be done early in the day and heated in the crockpot. I'd love to make the gravy early, too, but we love it from the pan drippings. So many things will be delicious and we won't remember the last-minute rush to the table.
You are on my list of blessings. So glad to wish you a wonderful Day of Thanksgiving.
~Adrienne~
Alas Shelia, poor Susan is saddled with me for her big sister (she's ten years my junior). Hope you have had a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteYum yum! I want to come to YOUR house for Thanksgiving! You'll have to come see what I cooked for Thanksgiving! lol
