Keep snapping Divas!!!
***************************

Hi! I wanted to participate in the Tablescape Tuesday that is hosted by our Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/.

I have some very sad news to tell. Susan and her family had to put their dog Jake to sleep last week. He was twelve years old and her heart was just broken. Please drop into her blog and leave her a note, I know she would appreciate it. Let's keep her and her family in our prayers. Those of us who have animal children know how deep our love grows through the years for our little fuzzy faces.

Since last Tuesday was Susan's first time to host her Tablescape Tuesday, I wanted to go ahead and post about tablescaping again this week. If you would like to participate, just go and tell her and I'm sure she'll be back in no time and will be thrilled to see we love to do this. She is really gifted in decorating the table and I want to support her in her efforts. I, in no way can work the magic like she!!

Okay, I will start...

First of all, I would like to show you my tablecloth. I just love it! Mr. Precious and I have been to the French Riviera a few times and found this in Monte Carlo. I used to have lots of blue and yellow, but alas, no more. I still love the combination though and thinks this is a nice look for the summer time.

Now there is a story about these dishes, you know how I love to tell stories!! No, no, not that kind...'true' stories! I was out and about a few years back and saw a garage sale, stopped and spied these dishes, turned them over to see what they were ~ Royal Copenhagen!! Woo Hoo!! I asked the lady how much she wanted - $15 for 15 dinner plates, 12 salad plates, 12 bread and butter plates, one cereal bowl, the sugar and creamer. I said, "I'll take them." I know they're rather plain but you can do so much with them.

I found out the pattern is called 'Blue Line'. I could have guessed that one ~ see the little blue line? I can use these dishes with other patterns or just stay all white by using other white pieces. Do you see those tall blue thingys? My Mother gave me those many moons ago and I never did know what they were! So I just use them as candle holders, maybe that's what they are. I'm a silly and put those little fake votives in them that you turn on and they flicker. These are a little too orange to look right, but hey, orange is a fall color and it's almost fall, right?

Now, here is another white table setting using the same tablecloth and napkins. These are very old dishes I've had for soooooooooo many years. They were even old back then. On the back side they say J. & G. Meakin England - Classic White.

I think these white dishes are very sweet with their little ruffly swirl around the edges. Again, I can use other white serving pieces with them.

Now, I just dearly love these little salt and peppers. They come from Target and are just the sweetest little things. I have two sets and that way I can have a set at each end of the table for my dinner guests!

Don't you just love these flowers from my garden?! Well, actually, they're fake, but I think they're lovely in my crystal vase. Notice the starfish! How tropical of me!

Hope you'll join me in Tablescape Tuesday each week. I'm hoping Susan will feel better soon and will show you what she can do to turn a table into a masterpiece!

If you'd like to participate, go to her blog and tell her, take the logo (I made this for her - I'm so creative ;) and put it on your blog with a link to hers and then post your tablescape on your blog next Tuesday or even today!!

Dinner always taste better on a properly set beautiful table!!

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Bread and Butter

I like bread and butter,

I like toast and jam,

That's what my baby feeds me,

I'm her loving man.

He likes bread and butter,

He likes toast and jam,

That's what his baby feeds him,

He's her loving man.

She don't cook mashed potatoes,

She don't cook T-bone steaks,

Don't feed me peanut butter,

She knows that I can't take.

He likes bread and butter,

He likes toast and jam,

That's what his baby feeds him,

He's her loving man.

Got home early one morning,

Much to my surprise,

She was eating chicken and dumplings

With some other guy.

No more bread and butter,

No more toast and jam,

I found my baby eating

With some other man.

  6. Now, who wouldn't love to sit at this table? It's heaven on earth--or on table.

I want to get some of those little fake votives! I have seen them before, and I think they're darling!

And, the dishes--what a bargain! But, Shelia, WHERE do you keep all of your dishes? Does Mr. Precious rent you a warehouse?

  24. Your tablescapes are lovely. My "everyday" dishes are plain white. I picked them out when we got married, and I still love them. They are so versatile.

I need to get some more, I just have one set, haha white so some color is due. Love the song too. I get lazy sometimes when I set the table and I should not be that way. I love a table set pretty with lite candles adn soft music. Thanks for showing me the way.

...and you ought to try making a tassle. They are so much fun and I know you could do it! "You're clever like that!" ;) ~hugs, Rhonda

  27. Lovin' the french blue & yellow!
I know some of your dishes might seem plain to some people, but chefs prefer to serve food on plain white or cream plates because seeing food on a busy pattern can actually effect our taste and perception of food! And think of everything you can do w/ white dishes and then different accessories. It's cheaper, too!
Maybe I'll have time to participate in the future.
