Ice Cream!!

I hope you all had a wonderful fourth of July with your family and friends. I am so proud to live in America, be an American and have the freedoms we all share. I'm so glad I have the freedom to eat all the homemade ice cream I want! No, I don't mean the store bought kind. It's good, but it's not the same! So if you didn't get your fair share of ice cream, this recipe is for you! I've been making this ice cream over 35 years and believe me, it's delicious! Enjoy!

Homemade Ice Cream - makes 1 gallon

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup sugar
5 eggs
1 tbs. vanilla
pinch of salt
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
12 oz. can evaporated milk
whole milk to fill
Electric ice cream freezer

1) With mixer, beat sugar and eggs til light and fluffy. Add vanilla and pinch of salt
2) Next pour sweetened condensed and evaporated milk into sugar/egg mixture and stir
3) Pour this entire mixture into the center container of your ice cream freezer. There should be a 'fill line' printed on the inside of the container. Fill with whole milk to that line. I've used 2% before and the taste of the ice cream isn't as good. So just go all out and use the whole milk!
4) Put the lid on the container and place in ice cream freezer. Finish preparing with alternating ice and rock salt. If you have an ice cream freezer you know all of this.
5) Plug cord into electrical outlet and let the machine go to town! When it's stopping turning - you have this marvelous delicious ice cream. Hope you enjoy

Optional: If you want another treat, just add 1 or 2 ripe smushed up bananas. Yummy!

  1. Good Morning POOH,

Hope you finally got to sleep last night. It rained here late, last evening and I love falling asleep while listering to the rain.:) I think I'm starting to get the hang of things on my blog, I hope to be able to give more time to it in the future, it's been busy around our house with different projects going on. I have been visiting you, but was having difficulty with my password, I think I have in right now.
    Have a great day.
